Reflecting on God’s Word
The Seven Pillars of Catholic Spirituality
The Gospel tells us that the magi found Christ “on
entering the house.” The door to your home is a holy
threshold. You can bless those who come in and go out by
inscribing above the door in chalk the first two numbers of the
year+C+M+B+the last two numbers of the year. Tradition tells
us that the letters stand for the name of the Magi: Caspar,
Melchior, and Balthasar. Adolph Adam points out that it may
also mean “Christus Mansionem benedicat” or “May Christ
bless this dwelling.” It’s appropriate to bless your door in
January—janua means “door” and the first month is the door to
the new year.
Have you ever felt disillusioned about your faith and filled with
doubt? Matthew Kelly will take you on the adventure of a
lifetime designed to help revitalize your spiritual life. Bold,
practical, and inspiring, he will help you rediscover the true
meaning of life as expressed in the seven pillars of authentic
Catholic spirituality. One of our most popular talks for many
years now, this CD is sure to stir your soul and invigorate your
spiritual life.
CD’s are available
in the Gathering
Space for $3.00
each.
After inscribing the doorway, say this prayer:
Year of Consecrated Life
God of Bethlehem and Cana,
God of Jordan’s leaping waters,
in baptism you bring us into your family.
You wed us and embrace us
as your beloved.
May we fill this place
with kindness to one another,
with hospitality to guests,
and with abundant care
for every stranger.
By the gentle light of a star,
guide home all who seek you
on paths of faith, hope and love.
Then we will join the angels in
proclaiming your praise:
Glory in heaven and peace on earth,
Now and forever. Amen.
Consecrated life: many possibilities
The Church is blessed with remarkable variety among the
consecrated men in the U.S. In fact, there is so much diversity
in the different kinds of communities, ministries, and
characteristics of male religious that learning more about
consecrated life for men can be overwhelming. We invite you
to explore consecrated life in three ways: by learning more
about consecrated men, discovering the different charisms in
the Church, and by looking at some of the religious
communities in the U.S. Go to
www.yearforconsecratedlife.com for more information. You'll
also find a short glossary that defines some of the key terms
used to describe consecrated life.
(Then sing a Christmas carol.)
Blessed Chalk will be available after Masses today.

Today we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany, where the Magi
find the newborn king and offer him gifts of gold, frankincense
and myrrh.
In the spirit of the Magi, your gift to the St. Vincent de Paul
Society once again offers that comfort and peace
to a newborn child.
On behalf of all the clients that have been assisted throughout
the year, the volunteers of St. Pius X St. Vincent de Paul
Society would like to say Thank You.
Donations of food, like the one shown from the St. Pius X
school students, other St. Pius Ministries, organizations like the
Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Brownies,
Daisies, RCIA, Faith Formation, CCW, outside groups
including Trinity Lutheran Church, Montini HS, Islamic
Foundation school, GM Smith and the hundreds of individual
donors have helped our members serve almost 1,500 clients
this past year.
♫ ♫ Musical Notes ♫ ♫
Too busy to join choir? Now it's easy! Just come at 8:45 am
and learn all the music to sing at 9:30 am Mass! There will be
no Thursday rehearsals any more, so no need to venture out on
a chilly weeknight to practice. You don't need to worry about
being there every Sunday, just come whenever you can!
Music will be easy to learn, upbeat and fun - so please join us!
Yes, we need YOU - even if you can't read music and have
never been in a choir. Let me show you how easy it can be!
You will love how much more meaningful your Sunday Mass
participation becomes when you are singing in a group. He who
sings, prays twice - and walks out of church with a happy heart.

REFLEXION
vez a Felipe (Jn 14,9), y muchas veces a nosotros.
¿Has conocido la punzante inquietud
¿Has visto con qué
significan siempre precios inalcanzables, dinero a montones,
costos imposibles.
Perpetua!

THE 2015 CATHOLIC MINISTRIES ANNUAL APPEAL IS UNDERWAY
“EXTENDING GOD’S MERCY”
The 2015 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal begins with a mailing that many of our
parishioners have received or will soon receive. This is a mailing from Bishop Conlon
asking for a pledge to the 2015 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal.
The Appeal not only funds many of the operations of the diocese, it funds services that
are of great help to the ministries here in our parish. This year, the theme of the Appeal
is “Extending God’s Mercy.” The greatest act of God's Mercy toward humankind was
to send His Son. People lost the way to God, the truth about God and a life in God by
our own fault. Jesus came to give us the Way, the Truth and a new Life. Jesus taught us
to be MERCIFUL as His Father is MERCIFUL. (Luke: 6:36)
How do we acknowledge God’s mercy and show Him our gratitude? One way that we
can show our gratitude is by giving back to God the gifts He shared with us. We can
support our parish, our diocese and the Church throughout the world with gifts of time,
talent and treasure. The gifts we give enable ministries, education, and services that
touch thousands of lives.
With your financial support, we can exceed our goal. When we exceed our goal in paid
