ADIRONDACK MENNONITE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY, INC.
MISSION STATEMENT
Adirondack Mennonite Retirement Community seeks to share God’s love by providing for the older adult a
home and lifestyle that are independent and dignified, secure and sheltering, purposeful and fulfilling,
creative and enriched, all within the framework of our Christian heritage. To that end, we will strive to be
visionary in our recognition of needs and compassionate in our approach to services.
It is feeling and looking
like spring.  Yeah!
This summer when it is
90 degrees, just think of
February 2015, and you
will feel cooler immediately!!!
Our mini vacation/
Christmas present was
the best. The kids and
grandkids couldn’t get
enough of it. Some of
the older ones went back
after dinner and stayed
till it closed at 10 PM.
We had a lot of exhausted kidos, but great memories were made.
Yes, it is time to think
about the garden.  Our
handbook says for you
to let me know by April
1 if you want a garden
plot. Seriously, we live
in Northern NY! But
you do need to start
thinking about the garden and if you want a
plot, it can be as small
as you choose. Plan to
come to the meeting
Tuesday, April 7, at
10:00 AM. Find out
about our community
garden and see if it is
right for you. If you
can’t come to the meeting, be sure to let Denyse know if you would
like a plot.
Have a great week

At a bar in New York City the bartender was so sure that he was the
strongest man around that he offered a standing $1,000 bet.
The bartender would squeeze a lemon until all the juice ran into a glass,
and then hand the lemon to the patron. Anyone who could squeeze two
more drops out of the lemon would win the money.
Over the years many people tried...weightlifters, longshoremen, etc., but
nobody had ever been able to do it.
One day a scrawny little fellow came in to the bar, wearing thick glasses
and a polyester suit. He sat down, ordered a beer, and started looking
around the bar. After reading the sign on the wall about the lemon challenge, he said in a small voice, “I was just reading your sign, and I’d like
to try the bet.”
After the laughter died down, the bartender said, “OK!” The bartender
grabbed a lemon and squeezed all the juice he could out of it. Then he
handed the wrinkled remains of the rind to the little fellow.
Now the crowd’s laughter turned to total silence as the little man clutched
his little fist around the lemon and six drops fell in to the glass.
As the crowd cheered, the bartender handed the little guy his $1,000 and
then asked, “Do you mind if I ask what you do for a living? Are you a
lumber jack, a weight-lifter or what?”
The little fellow quietly replied, “I work for the Internal Revenue Service!”
Although he was a qualified meteorologist, a local weatherman had a terrible record of forecasting for the local TV station. He became something of a joke when the newspaper began
keeping track of his predictions and showed that he’d been wrong almost 300 times a year.
He was fired, moved to another part of the country and applied for a similar job. One question on the job application asked why he had left his previous job. He wrote honestly, “The
climate didn’t agree with me.”
