THE ANNUAL LATIN JAZZ SIGNATURE EVENT IN LANCASTER

Jazz in the Sky featuring Marko Marcinko Jazz Quintet
The Ware Center | Lancaster | Grand Salon | 7:30 pm
Tickets: $25 (includes reserved seating, cocktails and bar snacks)
Led by drummer/percussionist Marko Marcinko, delivering an upbeat mix
of Latin and Brazilian jazz flavors. The quintet was formed in 2007 and also
features conga master Bob Velez, guitarist Bill Washer, bassist Paul
Rostock, and saxophonist/flutist Tom Hamilton. This high-energy
traditional Latin jazz quintet keep this musical style on fire and alive.

Children & Family: “Passport to Latin America”
The Ware Center | Lancaster | 2 pm – 4 pm
Tickets: FREE
Tentative Schedule/Explanation: Families can join us between 2 pm and 4
pm and enjoy activity stations. Each station will represent a country with a
craft activity relating to the country and families/children can browse from
station to station learning & creating. For each station they stop at, they
will get their “passport” stamped. Punch and snacks will be available. An
ice cream social is also planned for 3:30 pm. A film will be shown at 4 pm
(great for parents attending the YO SOY LATINA presentation!).

She was named one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics by Hispanic Business magazine. Her
groundbreaking award-winning play, YO SOY LATINA, has performed on off-Broadway, regional theater, and
at over 400 colleges across the country. Her short story, “The Fly Ass Puerto Rican Girl from the Stapleton
Projects” is featured in Staten Island Noir, an anthology edited by Patricia Smith and published by Akashic
Books in 2012. She is also the author of the novel, Free Style, published by Simon and Schuster in 2008. In
2009, Linda was a key figure in successfully having the MTV True Life: I’m Nuyorican episode banned from
broadcast for its stereotypical portrayal of young Nuyoricans. Her script, Six of Me was a finalist at the 2013
Sundance Screenwriter’s Lab.
