The San Gabriel Educational Foundation is
a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization and the primary
fundraising partner of the San Gabriel Unified
School District. Tax ID# 95-4023144.

Since its inception in 1986,
The San Gabriel Educational
Foundation (SEF) has donated
nearly $1,000,000 to support
SGUSD schools, teachers and
students. Repeated budget
reductions continue to impact
our local schools with reduced
or eliminated programs, bringing
home the effects of the recession
on California’s school funding.
In many communities, foundations have
been created to shore up some of the losses in
school funding. Locally, SEF is the primary
fund-raising entity supporting all 8 schools
in the San Gabriel Unified School District.
Our fund-raising directly results in restored
courses and programs supporting students from
Kindergarten through 12th grade throughout
the SGUSD. Every student in the school district
benefits from a SEF-sponsored program, at all 8
schools in the district.
The success of SEF depends on the strength
of its partnerships—with our schools, our
community and our business leaders. SEF
organizes a number of volunteer-driven fundraising opportunities annually, while actively
pursuing education grants for our school district
throughout the year.
Additionally, SEF oversees the operation
of a tuition-based Summer Academy each
year, providing an affordable local option
for enrichment and get-ahead credit classes
for SGUSD students as well as those from
surrounding communities.
Five times a year, SEF publishes an email
newsletter to inform and entertain our more
than 2,000 community members and donors.
Throughout the year, SEF runs various
fundraisers in the community. In the fall we
hold an annual Phone-a-Thon from each school.

This is in support of our annual Fund the Gap
campaign, which is intended to soften the
impact of recent state funding reductions.
The SEF Summer Academy is a five-week
tuition-based summer opportunity for grades
K–12. Offering a wide variety of enrichment, sport
and reinforcement classes, the Summer Academy
also offers get-ahead classes for credit
at the high school level—all to rave reviews.

annual benefit gala. SEF-A-Palooza is a great
opportunity to celebrate San Gabriel and all our
schools with good friends and good fun.
