Dear Colleague,
Since our 2013 Urban Mobility 3.0 workshop, we’ve seen several interesting developments across the
industry and its stakeholders. More and more electric, hybrid, and connected vehicles targeted at urban
environments continue to be released, such as the Toyota iRoad, BMW i3, and Opel Adam that were
launched last year. The carsharing market continues to grow, with over 3 million members in 2013, and
with a continued evolution of the business model, such as the corporate carsharing schemes launched by
Alphabet’s AlphaCity and PSA’s Share Your Fleet and the provision of new low-cost models such as CiteeCar,
who developed a host model that utilises private parking facilities in return for free driving credits for just
€1 per hour rental to customers.
The market for eRetailing of vehicles continues to grow with car dealers digitalising their urban stores to
appeal to current and future generations of customers by rebranding as technology-led lifestyle stores and
shaping the experience around futuristic mobility concepts such as electric vehicles, two wheelers, and
sustainability. We’ve seen policy-led initiatives such as London’s zero-emission taxi announcements and
new concepts from manufacturers such as Karsan, who presented their Concept taxi to Urban Mobility
3.0 delegates and transport authorities in 2013, a key pillar in their project development. Also, further
investments and priorities are now being given to automated mobility, with significant R&D efforts and
exploration of new autonomous vehicle business models well underway. Finally, there have been several
developments building toward Frost & Sullivan’s vision for a fully integrated mobility platform, with new
services from Deutsche Bahn (Qixxit) and expansion of Daimler’s Moovel for example.
All of these are in line with the focus of Frost & Sullivan’s Urban Mobility workshop, which brings together
high profile industry experts from mobility-related functions across the globe, including automotive, leasing,
public transport, policy, carsharing, and technology experts in particular. Our 2014 sixth annual workshop
will be held at London’s prestigious Honourable Artillery Company, and the five panel discussions will focus
on the mega trends impacting mobility, the new business models such as mobility integration and
carsharing, public transport solutions, big data in the automotive industry and autonomous driving, and
finally new eRetailing methods.

Alex Mitchell serves as Director, Head of
Automotive at the World Economic Forum,
where he is responsible for strategic projects
such as Making Self-Driving Vehicles a Reality.
Prior to the Forum, Alex was vice-president of Coda Automotive,
an electric vehicle manufacturer in California. Alex previously
worked for Toyota Motor Europe in business planning and retail
network development in Brussels, and for McKinsey & Company
as a strategy consultant. He earned a BA in International
Relations from Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton
School, University of Pennsylvania.

Chris Reeves BSc (Hons) is the commercial
manager for Intelligent Mobility and Future
Transport Technologies. With over 25 years’
experience in the research, development and exploitation of
semiconductor, sensors and electronics based technologies
working for MIRA Ltd, QinetiQ Ltd and BT Ltd (formerly British
Telecommunications). He has extensive experience of managing
all aspects of delivery of large multidisciplinary teams and major
facilities and a proven track record for delivering solutions to
complex problems to meet customer and business needs across
a wide range of electronics based technologies. Chris has
successfully won and delivered major commercial and
collaborative R&D programmes in the field of ICT for a diverse
range of international clients and national and international
funding bodies.

Dorman Followwill’s inspirational leadership
and contributions to the global Frost & Sullivan
team have accounted for outstanding
performance in regional EIA sales and profit as
a Partner, Director and Executive Committee member for the
Europe, Israel, and Africa region, in 2008 and 2009, as well as
record profitability in the Healthcare business unit in North
America from 2002-2005. Dorman has played a leading role in
some of the largest consulting engagements in the history of the
firm, including ongoing projects with Bayer Biologicals and Philips,
and key projects with Merck Chemicals, Montagu Private Equity,
and Novartis. He also supports several key sales and new business
development initiatives in EIA. Dorman has a B.A. in The
Management of Organisations from Stanford University and
currently resides in Oxford, U.K., with his family.
Andrew Hooks is currently Director of Motors
for Gumtree.com with responsibility for
growing the Motors business for the UK’s
leading classifieds website. Gumtree represents
the most recent of his roles during a five year tenure at eBay Inc,
during which time he grew the eBay Motors businesses to marketleading positions in both the UK and Germany, and developed the
UK consumer electronics division before joining Gumtree in
January 2014. Prior to joining eBay Inc, Andrew spent a number
of years in banking and strategy consulting. He lives in Surrey with
his wife and two children.

Erik Grab has more than 10 years of market
research experience in the automotive industry
and more than 10 years of consulting and
marketing experience both gained in agency and client-side roles.
Since 2009, he has been taking on different responsibilities in the
innovation and strategic anticipation fields for a global company.
He began his career at Michelin as Sales Representative and then
as Market Research Officer before moving agency-side where he
held a number of senior roles for GfK and Icon / Added Value. Erik
was recruited by Michelin again in 2003 as Worldwide Marketing
Director, first for the truck division then for the passenger car
division. In 2012 he was appointed Vice President Strategic
Anticipation, Innovation & Sustainable Development for Michelin
Group. In his current role, Erik focuses on understanding the
challenges and opportunities presented by the emergence of new
technologies and business models and the increasing demand for
new mobility solutions worldwide.

Hubertus von Roenne is a long standing
business professional in the Global Telecoms &
Internet Industries. From 2000 to 2006, he led
several major international transactions for AOL Europe and was
actively involved in the rapid growth of the internet platform "First
Tuesday". He joined BT in 2006 to run the Strategic Deal
Management team in Germany. In 2011 he was part of the team
setting up BT’s vertical strategy and practices and subsequently
led BT’s Global Logistics Sector and then the Global
Manufacturing Vertical. In April 2014 he became Vice-President for
BT’s Global Industry Practice and holds responsibility for all of
BT’s global industry (vertical) related activities. In the early part
of his career, Hubertus was an international lawyer advising
telecoms and internet companies on market entry matters.
Hubertus studied law and philosophy in Heidelberg, New York and
Berlin and was awarded a doctorate from Humboldt-University
Berlin. Between 2006 and 2012, Hubertus was a board member
of ECTA, and in 2012 chairman of the ECTA board. In this role,
he represented the European telecoms industry in Brussels,
including meetings with European Commissioners and the
European Parliament. A German national, Hubertus lives in Paris,
is married to an English wife and has three children.
John Stanger
Erik Jonnaert is Secretary General of ACEA, the
European Trade Association of the Automobile
industry bringing together all manufacturers of
cars, trucks and buses, operating in Europe, based in Brussels with
offices in Japan and China. Erik has acquired almost 28 years of
global experience with P&G through several leadership roles in
Europe and Asia. Erik has developed a unique mix of experience
and expertise in public affairs, communications and legal affairs
across the different leadership roles he has been playing in and
outside P&G.

Executive-Lead for Mobility Programs in Europe
and is based at the Ford R&D Centre in Essex.
John joined Ford for as a graduate mechanical engineer and since
completing his MBA, has held many senior positions within the
Company, including spells with Ford Asia-Pacific and as head of
European Product Planning based in Cologne, Germany. Most
recently, John has led Global Advanced, Technology and
Sustainability Strategy at Ford, which has provided an excellent
foundation for his lead Mobility Role.
Julia Saini
Franck Leveque was educated in Oxford and
joined Frost & Sullivan in early 2001. Since then
he has been instrumental in the development of the Automotive
& Transportation practice in Europe. He is a member of the
European Management team, driving consulting best practices, and
is responsible for the expansion of the Transportation sector,
including Future Mobility, Rail & Urban Transport, and Intelligent
Transport Systems. Franck is a recognised Transportation expert
and speaks at various events. He has worked and managed
numerous high-value projects across the value chain with many
blue chip companies, including Daimler, Hyundai, GM, Magna,
Thales, Nokia-Navteq, Continental, Siemens and many more.

role as director of consulting, she is responsible for managing the

consulting projects and is considered a highly driven project
leader with a strong focus on project excellence and unconditional
client satisfaction. Julia has founded the European Chassis and
Powertrain programme areas and is now responsible for driving
Frost & Sullivan&s Digital Retailing initative. Julia is trilingual and
holds a Master (LLB, LLM) and Doctorandus in Law (Dr.).

Kalman Gyimesi

Kalman Gyimesi leads the worldwide strategy and
development of Industrial solutions for IBM's
Software Group.
He previously led the
development of new business research for
Automotive clients, at IBM's Institute for Business Value where he
published seven major research studies and is one of the lead authors
for Automotive 2025. He has over 20 years of experience leading
the implementation of complex business solutions. Other leadership
roles at IBM include business development for RFID technology,
commercialization of Intellectual Property assets and the
development of Supply Chain solutions. Mr. Gyimesi has been on the
core team of three new product introductions and several service
offering releases. He has led advanced planning implementations and
has managed numerous process improvement, transformation and
strategic initiatives through his career. He has a B.S. from the State
University of New York and an M.B.A. from Syracuse University.

Kit joined Alphabet UK in 2011 to launch its
industry first Corporate CarSharing solution
AlphaCity. Following this, Kit has worked on a
variety of mobility & e-mobility projects
culminating in the launch of AlphaElectric in 2013. Kit has a
background in the Daily Rental sector and is currently responsible
for all Corporate Mobility solutions at Alphabet including AlphaCity,
AlphaElectric, Internal Car Schemes and Daily Rental.

currently Head of Global Commercial

Sustainability Program globally. She is a well-known researcher,
professor at HEC Brussels, lecturer in several European organizations
and a recognized author. Her latest books focus on International

Misys Financial Systems 15 years ago. However, it was whilst
employed with Total Systems that he saw the opportunity with
telematics based motor insurance and he also met Mike Brockman
and Andy Haynes. In 2009 Mike, Mark and Andy created Insurethebox
with Mark acting as Business Development Director. The business
began trading in June 2010 and today has sold over 350,000 policies
and directly employs over 400 people. Mark has three very expensive
daughters and his interests include Rugby, Formula 1 motor sport
and socialising.

Mark Servodidio has been with the Avis Budget
Group for 13 years and is Managing Director for
Avis Budget UK Ltd. In February 2013, he was
appointed EVP, Franchise and Corporate Services,
EMEA. Prior to February 2013, he was Chief Administrative Officer
for Avis Budget Group, with responsibilities for more than 29,000
employees. He was responsible for Avis Budget Group's worldwide
human resources and also oversaw properties, facilities, construction,
airport concession agreements, environmental affairs, and supplier
diversity. Mark lives in the UK with his wife and two youngest
children.
Mark Walker

Mark Walker is the UK general manager of Zipcar,
the world’s largest pay-as-you-drive car club. Mark
joined the business full-time in 2010. Under
Mark’s leadership, Zipcar helps form part of a
smarter transportation system in the UK, complementing public
transport and reducing congestion by taking cars off the road. Today,
Zipcar has over 731,000 members and more than 11,000 vehicles in
urban areas across the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Spain
and Austria. In the UK, Mark oversees Zipcar operations in London,
Bristol, Cambridge and Oxford, alongside local authority partnerships
in Kent and Surrey. London is the largest Zipcar network in the UK,
with thousands of cars across 31 London boroughs.The Zipcar model
is based on positive collaboration and pay-for-use business model,
which is relevant to businesses and consumers alike. Mark worked in
the investment banking industry, holding a number of senior positions,
latterly as managing director of the UK Branch of Carnegie
Investment Bank AB, between 1998 and 2010. Mark has a BSc (Hons)
in Data Processing and Management Studies at the University of
Leeds.
Martyn Briggs

Martyn Briggs is the programme manager for
Mobility Research, in the Automotive and
Transportation practice at Frost & Sullivan.
Martyn is currently managing strategic mobility research and
consulting assignments, helping clients to identify growth potential
through leveraging technology and new mobility business models.
Martyn has particular expertise in Car Sharing, Mobility Integration,
and Sustainable Transport Planning. Prior to Frost & Sullivan, Martyn
spent more than five years at MVA Consultancy, specialising in
Transport Planning, Smart & Sustainable Travel, economic appraisal,
and transport market research.

senior staff, Michael Schwarz consults with senior
executives from the manufacturing industry
looking to capitalize on the transformative power of the Internet for

experience. Schwarz brings more than 18 years of top management
consulting experience and solid industry knowledge to the
organization. Before joining Cisco, he worked for Booz Allen
Hamilton based in Munich and Chicago, Siemens Nixdorf and ZF
Friedrichshafen. Schwarz also stays in contact with academia and
regularly gives lectures, e.g. at University Nürnberg-Erlangen and the
Karlsruhe Institute of Technology KIT. Schwarz graduated from the
Technical University of Karlsruhe/Germany as an industrial engineer.
In addition, he studied economics with a scholarship from the
German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and received a master’s
degree in applied economics from the University of ParisDauphine/France.
Nick Ford

Nick Ford has worked closely with business
planning, providing strategy guidance and market
development support throughout his career. In his
previous role he was product planning director at TRW with global
responsibility for their £3 billion automotive steering business,
providing strategy guidance for their electric steering products. Nick
has nine years of automotive experience, preceded by 23 years in
Aerospace and Defence at British Aerospace and Lucas. As well as
holding senior management positions in these corporations, Nick has
been managing director of EMM Computers, a technology start-up
company that exceeded $1 million turnover in its first year of
operation. Since joining Frost & Sullivan, Nick has been working
closely with senior executives in the automotive domain, developing
their business and product strategy. Recently, he has been involved
in the development of the EV market.
Niranjan Thiyagarajan

Niranjan has close to six years of experience in
strategy consulting and research across the
automotive sector, having worked on more than 40 European and
global projects. He is a thought leader and developing business on
topics such as connectivity, big data, diagnostics and future smart
mobility trend for the European Market. He did his Bachelors in
Information Technology from the University of Madras in 2003.
Niranjan is a strong consultant with deep interest and knowledge of
the next generation of connectivity technologies.
Olivia is a Master of Law with an LLB from
Durham University UK and LLM in International
Criminal Law from Nottingham University UK. Her research and
consulting focus is global mega trends – and she is currently leading
a study into the empowerment of women in the automotive industry.
Olivia has worked on and managed numerous high-value consulting
projects across the automotive value chain, ranging from inward
investment to new product development and competitive
benchmarking. Recent clients have included Continental, Nissan, 3M,
Bosch and Fincantieri.
Paul Gordon

Paul started his career in big London ad agencies
working on major car brands including Mini. MG,
Rover Cars and Mitsubishi. He was also part of the
management team that created Kevin Morley Marketing (KMM), the
UK’s first integrated marketing communications agency which ran
Rover’s entire £50m marketing budget covering brand, national and
dealer marketing. After a stint as European Board Account Director
at Lowe Lintas he started his own agency which he and his partners
sold to CELLO PLC. On completion of his earn out, Paul joined
Autotorq to expand its established technology offering into new
services, markets and geographies.
Redmer Van der Meer

Nissan
Redmer has three roles within Nissan. As
Corporate Planning Director, based in Nissan’s
European headquarters in Rolle Switzerland, he is
responsible for Corporate Planning for Europe and Russia. He is also
the Overseas Program Director for the Nissan LEAF, the first true
volume production electric vehicle, highly rewarded globally with
over 100,000 vehicles sold worldwide.In addition, as Overseas
Program Director for Nissan and Infiniti telematics programs,
Redmer has responsibility for where telematics have been
introduced: on the Nissan LEAF as Carwings from 2010, on Infiniti
Q50 from 2013, and most recently on New Qashqai from 2014. In
his role as Corporate Planning Director, among his other duties
Redmer is responsible for the battery business operations in Europewith involvement in several projects that make the link between
buildings/housing and energy management/storage. Nissan has a
holistic approach to the new era of electrical vehicles, where there
is a focus on the complete value chain. Redmer has been with Nissan
since 1993, and has contributed in many different areas, from
aftersales, vehicle engineering, and sales, to new technology
development and product planning for future Nissan vehicles.

Rittmar von Helmolt started his career at General
Motors and Opel in 2000. He led the fuel cell
application for Opel’s first “HydroGen” fuel cell
electric vehicles. Since then, he worked on various
positions in advanced technology and strategic project development.
In his current position, he is responsible for General Motors
positioning and cooperation projects in Europe for urban transport
solutions. Before joining GM/Opel, he worked in the energy research
department of Siemens Corporate Technology. He holds a PhD in

Sarwant Singh joined Frost & Sullivan in March
1999, and has managed more than 250 strategic

He heads up two teams in Frost & Sullivan: the Automotive and

which works on Mega Trends. Sarwant is responsible for managing
the global team, and for developing and implementing business
strategies and fulfilling high-value consulting projects. Sarwant is the
author of "New Mega Trends: Implications to our Future Lives." The
book has been sold in over 30 countries since its launch in September

She is now Senior Delivery Planning Manager for Motorised Road

safety cameras, Congestion Charge, Low Emission Zone and The
Mayor’s Electric Vehicle Delivery Plan.
Simon is the Customer Experience Manager for
Volvo in the UK. Having joined Volvo in 2000
following a broad franchised dealership
background. He has worked in a variety of Dealer
Performance and Competence Development roles. Now responsible
for C- Sat, Retail Quality and Customer Journey Development he is
passionate about ensuring the Customer’s view, no matter how big
or small, is considered across all parts of the business.
