THE ABARTH
WORLD
Welcome to the third edition of THE ABARTH
WORLD. The publication, which began a year
ago, continues to this date teaching about
adrenaline and performance. These pages
aim to provide information and share ideals,
something that will be reinforced even more by
our presence at the 2012 Paris Motor Show
and the Bologna Motor Show.
To get back to the present, let’s start with
what is on show at Geneva: from the Abarth
695 Assetto Corse, which will make its debut
in the in the single marque Trofeo, to the 595
Turismo and Competizione, and the Limited
Edition Punto EVO Scorpione.
The other exciting event for our followers is
“Make It Your Race”, an initiative that has
grown exponentially becoming, to all intents
and purposes, a huge talent show for aspiring
young European drivers. The success enjoyed
last year (more than 5,000 participants in Italy)
made us think that “democratisation of racing”,
the formula chosen, in his day, by Karl Abarth,
is as relevant as ever today.
Let’s discover the less well known, but no less
interesting, side of the founder of our brand,
Karl Abarth the fashion style icon. And also:
our world, built on passion and commitment
to things that are well made, a sort of parallel
universe made up of people, products and
brands that share the same principles as us.
Let us take you on a journey through style and
“sports without excess”. Lastly, a “map” of
how many people on the worldwide web refer
to us and the latest news about the scorpion
accessories and merchandising. All that’s left
at this stage is to say we hope you enjoying
reading all about us.

RULER OF THE
RACE TRACKS
THE ABARTH 695 ASSETTO CORSE WILL MAKE ITS DEBUT IN THE SINGLE MARQUE TROFEO.
A THOROUGHBRED WITH 205 BHP, SEQUENTIAL TRANSMISSION AND 17” ALLOY WHEELS.
THE CAR LOOKS LIKE A TRUE COMPETITION CAR WITH ITS LARGE AERODYNAMIC SPOILER.
Destined for competitions on the race track,
the Abarth 695 Assetto Corse will make its
debut this year in the single marque Trofeo.
It represents the continuity of the historic 695
marque, which begun with the Abarth 695
Tributo Ferrari and continued with the 695
Competizione, the first street legal Scorpione
racing car.
The car displays a distinctly sporting character,
with an aggressive front carrying the badge
with the Abarth logo, while underneath, the
widened bumper features an aerodynamic
spoiler and screen-printed grilles replacing the
plastic surrounds on the production models.
Under the bonnet, fitted with the classic racing
style bonnet hooks, the 1368 cc turbocharged
engine delivers an incredible 205 horsepower.
Meanwhile, the rear of the car features a
spoiler and badge with the Abarth logo.
The 17” light alloy racing wheels are combined
with new perforated, floating, self-ventilating
brake discs at the front and perforated disc
brakes at the rear, together with a new brake
regulator for better race performance and
safety. The model has a Sadev sequential
transmission, with specific gear ratios, that
together with a metal-ceramic dual-disc clutch,
enables the car to achieve record-breaking
levels of performance for its category.
On the inside, the Abarth 695 ‘Assetto Corse’
is fitted with a safety-cage homologated for
competition, welded to the bodyshell and
optimized to improve the car’s front torsional
rigidity.
To make it even lighter – the car weighs
around 30kg less than the Abarth 500
‘Assetto Corse’ – the doors have been
lightened by using lexan for the side windows.
The anatomic seat and racing steering wheel
also give the Abarth 695 ‘Assetto Corse’ the
characteristics of a true sports car, small
and plucky, just like the 500 ‘Assetto Corse’,
which has been so successful in the singlebrand trophies over the last three years.

PERFORMANCE
WITHIN EVERYONE’S
REACH
THE ABARTH RANGE IS RENEWED AND THE TRIM LEVELS HAVE MULTIPLED. ALONGSIDE
THE 500 THERE WILL BE THE NEW 595 “TURISMO” AND “COMPETIZIONE” WITH A 160
BHP ENGINE, AND WHICH ALSO COME IN A CONVERTIBLE VERSION, AND THE ABARTH
695 COMPETIZIONE. THE ABARTH PUNTO EVO IS JOINED BY THE SUPERSPORT AND THE
LIMITED EDITION ABARTH SCORPIONE. OBJECTIVE: 100% SATISFACTION OF PERFORMANCE
REQUIREMENTS FOR EVERYONE.
Once upon a time there was the 500 Abarth.
The shape was that of the popular Fiat 500,
the substance was not. Starting with the power,
exactly double that of the utility car made in
Mirafiori. Its first appearance was staggering: for
a week the small Abarth went round the Monza
circuit without stopping, setting six international
records. Then, the Corso Marche workshop
produced the 595, the 595ss and the 695 with
an escalation of speed and power.
Fifty years later, the number of versions of the
Abarth 500 is also multiplying and reaching a
wider public.
This is happening while remaining faithful to the
original formula of a small car, high performance,
safety in all conditions, just like every Abarth
should be. So, in the place of a single version
(which can be modified thanks to the “wooden
crate”), the new range features two trim levels
and power outputs. The 595 slots in alongside
the Abarth 500, and is available in two versions:
“turismo” and “competizione”. The mechanics
are identical, based on the 1.4 T-Jet 160 bhp
engine, but these two cars have completely
different characters; one is for those in search
of an exclusive, elegant style, the other for those
attracted by the race track. They are also
available with different transmissions: manual
and Abarth competition MTA, a sophisticated,
robotised transmission offering a choice of either
automatic or sequential operation with paddleshift controls on the steering.
Three similar cars, but different at the same time.
The Abarth 500, powerful, fast and essential.
The Abarth 595 “turismo”, wicked yet elegant.
The Abarth 595 “competizione”, uncompromising
sportiness. Each with its own inimitable style and
character; the choice is yours!
ABARTH 500
The New Abarth 500 has all the technical
features of the previous model and appeals
specifically to those who are looking for
affordable sportiness, but with the performance,
technical specifications and qualities on the
road that are only to be expected from an
Abarth. Driven by a potent power unit, the 1.4
turbo petrol engine with a power output of
140 bhp (rising to 160 bhp with the esseesse
kit), is combined with a five-speed manual
gearbox offering maximum driving pleasure at
a price that is within reach. And this is without
compromising on the specification level with
the equipment including, among other things,
air-conditioning, audio system with CD player,
MP3 player and Blue&Me, fog lights, parking
sensors and the choice of two types of alloy
wheels, both 16”.
It comes in pastel shades that echo the
tradition of the Abarth competizione of the
sixties. The interior features the dashboard
colour coordinated to match the bodywork
and with the seats being covered in elegant
fabric that compliments the colour of the car.
The gear lever and the steering wheel are
both trimmed in leather.
The new 595 Turismo
WORLD PREMIERE

With the 1.4 T-Jet 16 valve engine and IHI
turbocharger fitted as standard on the Abarth
595 turismo it has a power output of 160
bhp and a powerful torque (230 Nm at 3000
rpm in sport mode) producing a striking
performance. The top speed is 127 MPH
(205 km/h ) or 130 MPH (209 km/h) for the
convertible version, while the car goes from
0-62 MPH in 7.4 seconds.
The transmission features the Abarth
Competizione MTA gearbox as standard
whilst the traditional manual gearbox, with a
gear lever and clutch pedal, is available as an
alternative. The front brake discs are crossdrilled and ventilated, the rear discs are crossdrilled, while either red or yellow calipers,
show off the exclusive 17” wheel rims, and
which are available in four different designs.
With the tursimo personalisation, the Abarth
595 has been enhanced with special paint
treatments (metallic, pearlescent, two-tone,
etc.) like the two-tone Rosso Officina (works
red) and Grigio Pista (racing grey), which
combined with its great personality, means
that it certainly turns heads. The grilles in
the front and rear bumpers are finished in
Titanium Grey.
The interior is elegant and tasteful, with
leather seats and panels. Attention to detail
is underlined by the special flocked effect of
the centre tunnel and which is available as an
option on the dashboard, while the pedals,
the footrest and the running boards are in
Alutex.
The racing spirit is in Abarth’s blood. Racing
is its world. The new 595 competizione is
pure performance , without compromise.
The mechanics are the same as the turismo
version, with 160 bhp and the choice
between the Abarth Competizione sequential
gearbox and the manual version for those
who prefer a more direct relationship with the
car. The exhaust is the Record Monza type
with four outlets which, thanks to dual mode
technology, enhances the power and torque
curve above 4000 rpm.
The sporty nature is underlined by a range
of exterior paintwork finishes, and with the
exterior decorative elements highlighted in
an opaque grey finish and matching mirror
covers. The 17” alloy wheels come in four
designs and the brake calipers are available
in red or yellow. The interior of the 595
also expresses the racing spirit with aluminium
pedals, the alloy gear lever (if a manual
gearbox is fitted) and the special treatment of
the dashboard. The front seats are bespoke
Abarth Corse items made specially by Sabelt:
two wraparound seats that hug the body
when cornering; total control without giving
up on comfort for everyday use. The seats
are available in fabric, or optional leather trim.

WICKED
LIKE NEVER BEFORE
THE ABARTH PUNTO IS THE MODEL THAT SIGNALLED THE REBIRTH OF THE MARQUE. OVER
TIME IT HAS CONTINUED TO DEVELOP IN TERMS OF STYLE, MECHANICS AND PERFORMANCE.
THE NEW RANGE IS DESIGNED TO EXTEND ITS “NICHE” MARKET WITH AN INJECTION OF POWER
(180 BHP AS STANDARD ON THE TWO NEW VERSIONS), HIGHER SPECIFICATION LEVELS AND A
RANGE THAT EXTENDS HIGHER THANKS TO THE LAUNCH OF THE SUPERSPORT VERSION AND
A NEW LIMITED EDITION, THE ABARTH PUNTO EVO SCORPIONE, WITH EXCLUSIVE FEATURES.
ABARTH
PUNTO EVO
SCORPIONE
ABARTH PUNTO SUPERSPORT
The Punto EVO SuperSport is designed to
appeal to fans of performance who also want
to stand out in terms of style. Those who
appreciate the Abarth marque, naturally, but
also motoring enthusiasts who are coming from
other products in the search for “something
extra” that really makes a difference and which
allows them to stand out from the crowd.
The new version demonstrates character and
personality from the first time you set eyes upon
it. The Campovolo Grey bodywork features an
opaque black roof and bonnet with a hint of
the same body colour as the car. The sporty
nature of the model is further emphasised by
the opaque black 17” alloy wheels with ultra
low profile 205/45 tyres and red brake calipers
on the high performance front and rear disc
brakes.
The interior boasts exclusive details like the
steel pedals. The running boards are also made
from steel with the “Abarth” logo on them.
Top of the range in terms of performance and
style. This limited edition offers an exclusive
aesthetic treatment achieved through a unique
craftsmanship process - and this combined with
the performance and dynamic specifications of
the “esseesse” kit.
The look is unmistakable, a special combination of Nero Scorpione, an opaque shade, with
a high-gloss stripe in the middle of the bonnet and roof panels. A striking contrast achieved
through a handcrafted process.
The 18” wheels of the Esseesse kit are also finished in opaque black. This colour makes the
yellow brake calipers stand out even more. Talking of brakes, the front discs are floating,
cross-drilled and ventilated with Brembo calipers and with the rear discs cross-drilled. The
equipment on the Abarth Punto EVO Scorpione also includes lowered suspension springs
and Koni dampers. The interior is what you would expect from such a car, refined yet sporty
and starting with the stainless steel pedals and the Abarth Corse seats by Sabelt covered in
black cloth and with black backrests.

CONQUERS SOUTH AFRICA
A new continent, a new challenge, a new
objective: bringing the philosophy of the brand,
its legendary wealth of on-track victories and,
above all, the performance of its models, to
the streets (and also the race circuits) of the
United States. After the preview of the Abarth
500 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, Abarth
is now in all American homes thanks to the
TV advert (see photo) that went out during
the Super Bowl. The commercial was seen
by 113.3 million spectators and received more
than 7.6 million online visitors. At the end of
February US journalists had the chance, for
the first time, to drive the car on the Spring
Mountain circuit. Another television advert is
scheduled to be broadcast in March, with
the “bad boy” Charlie Sheen and in April
Abarth will finally reach the US dealerships.
The American adventure has begun: ready to
take to the road with the Scorpione?
For the third year in a row, Abarth took
part in the Tokyo Motor Show. The stand
showed off the Punto EVO SuperSport and
the 500C esseesse and attracted more than
255 thousand visitors. In the foreground were
the interviews with Ponto Häggström, CEO
Fiat Group Automobiles Japan, and Tiziana
Alamprese Fiat Country Manager. Journalists,
fans and drivers showed great interest in the
Abarth stand and the cars on display.
Abarth is synonymous with passion on all
latitudes. The journalists who took part in
the press event in South Africa dedicated
to the Abarth 500 were very enthusiastic.
The look, performance and behaviour
got excellent comments. So too did the
possibility of personalising the car using the
contents of the Abarth “box”. An homage
to the tradition of the marque, certainly, but
also and most especially something exclusive
that gives added value in terms of sportiness
and safety.

ABARTH PUNTO TROPHY
IN ARGENTINA
Launched in November, the Abarth store in
Hong Kong drew in hundreds of visitors on
the opening day, plus numerous journalists
and six television channels, invited to celebrate the launch of the brand in China.
The Abarth single marque championship will
start in April in Argentina with a car specially
developed for this trophy taking to the tracks.
It is a Punto Assetto Corse with a power
output of 190 bhp, anti-roll bar bolted onto
the body and 330 mm front brake discs with
calipers with four pistons. The races will be
held at the same time as the TC 200 championship at the most important race tracks in
the country: from Santa Fé to Mendoza, to
Buenos Aires.
ABARTH
IN FINLAND
The opening of the first Abarth store in Finland was celebrated at the Autokeskus airport.
More than two thousand VIP guests took part in the event.
As well as by the catering, the guests were entertained by the jewel that is the exclusive
Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari and by the beauty of the iconic Abarth 500. The Ambassador
Giorgio Visetti was also in attendance, confirming the importance of the scorpion in
spreading the word abroad about Made in Italy.
The Finish journalists were invited to visit the new Abarth premises and also had the chance
to test drive the various models.

FROM THE RACE TRACKS
TO THE BOUTIQUES
THE RACING SPIRIT
BECOMES A LIFESTYLE.
NOT JUST A RACING DRIVER, MANUFACTURER AND CONSTRUCTOR OF SPORTS CARS,
KARL ABARTH WAS ALSO AN UNDISPUTED MASTER OF STYLE. SO MUCH SO THAT HE WON
A FASHION OSCAR FOR HIS AUTOBOUTIQUE COLLECTION.
“We are in a land of art and elegance. We
love beautiful things”, Karl Abarth was often
heard to say.
This is what his wife Anneliese says in
her book “Carlo Abarth, my life with the
ingenious car manufacturer (edited by Libreria
Automotoclub Storico Italiano Torino), Karl
adored Italy. He had typically Italian taste,
even though he was born and grew up in
Vienna. He liked the Made in Italy design
and fashion, the tailoring of the clothes, the
timeless elegance of Italian women. And the
attention to detail he showed in all his cars
was also mirrored in his own appearance:
his suits, made to measure shirts and ties
went with him everywhere, even on holiday.
His white silk pochettes embroidered with
his initials, AK, were one of his hallmarks.
He owned a very large collection of fine
shoes. He also had a passion for gloves:
he adored those of the English golfer Tyler
Palmer, who in those days was a celebrity
on the greens, and he used to have them
made in London in extremely soft leather. All
in all “he always looked like he had stepped
off the cover of a fashion magazine”, wrote
Anneliese: he never wore clothes that were
other than immaculate and he never chose
them randomly. He paid the same attention
to the lines of his cars as to the cut of
his clothes: shape and aesthetics were
fundamental to him.
He put so much passion into everything that
he was a perfectionist: “When he took an
interest in something he wanted to become
an expert in it”, she admitted. So, from
being a devotee of fashion, Karl gradually
turned into a designer: he began designing
clothes for his wife and commissioned a
designer to adapt his sketches to then have
them manufactured. His fashion creations
were inspired by models in shop windows
or in magazines, but mainly by what he saw
on the streets. For example, when he was
returning from the Vallelunga track he used
to love stopping for an aperitif in Rome, in
via Vittorio Veneto, to look at the people
walking up and down. In those days Rome
was the fashion capital: that was where the
most “in” fashion houses in the whole of Italy
were to be found.
There was one area that Karl found
particularly interesting: sports fashion. This
was how, starting with his sketches, the idea
of a line of clothing, very practical, but at the
same time very elegant, developed, perfect
for behind the wheel of a car, but also for
leisure activities. He called it Autoboutique.
It included sports clothing in typical Abarth
colours, and then scarves, foulards, belts,
umbrellas and other accessories.
For
women there were also baseball jackets,
shirts, short skirts and especially trousers
which, launched at the start of the sixties
by André Courrèges in France, were by now
becoming a must have item for women in
Italy as well. Whoever didn’t feel comfortable
in the flower child clothes or tailored suits
for women, chose this new sports fashion.
Karl later added a homeware collection, with
bath towels and monogrammed bath robes
with the double A logo, an homage to his
wife Anneliese, who was also his favourite
photographic model.
Karl’s fashion creations were not simply
a hobby.
For Abarth they became an
unexpected source of income as his
Boutiques were doing very well, both in Italy
and in the United States, and they were
also an efficient form of publicity, especially
for the female public, who were becoming
an increasingly important target for the
automotive industry.
Karl began to advertise his collections
more often in women’s magazines and the
Italian clothing industry was not slow in
noticing him. So much so that, in 1969, an
international jury awarded him the Fashion
Oscar. This recognition rewarded his talent
and his passion: this is the same passion
that lives on today in “Abarth Tales” (see
article on page 37).

MAKE IT YOUR RACE
THE DREAM
GOES ON
AFTER THE SUCCESS OF THE FIRST EDITION, THE SECOND APPOINTMENT WITH THE ABARTH
SHOW FOR YOUNG EMERGING DRIVERSIS ABOUT TO ARRIVE. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS
AND DON’T LET IT GET AWAY FROM YOU.
“Not the speed, not the thrill. Our goal
is the dream”. Dream of driving on a real
race track, alongside professional drivers.
Dream about wearing the white and red
overalls; just putting them on must be
such a thrill. Dream about being in control
of a car, the Abarth 500 Assetto Corse,
which has so much history that it speaks
for itself. Climbing to the top step on the
podium and lifting the cup towards the
sky.
There are so many reasons for taking
part in Make It Your Race. Thousands of
young people, lovers of engines, horsepower and acceleration took part last year
in the Abarth Race Days of Varano de’
Melegari registered in the hope of being
selected to fly round the track and to
know all about it.
And Make It Your Race is returning now,
with an even more exciting version, a
more engaging programme, an entirely
new format. The dream goes on.
Let’s take a look right away at all the
many new features this year. Make It Your
Race 2012 will be a talent show in which
non professional drivers aged between
18 and 40, resident in Italy, Germany,
the United Kingdom, France, Belgium and
Switzerland can take part. You must know
English.

most compelling entries will be selected
by a committee of technical experts and
then the public will vote via the web, in
a stage that will be crucial for the participants to make their video go viral so
as to get as many votes as possible.
Next stage will see entrants selected to
take part in the driving safety course at
the Abarth Driving Academy in Italy and
under the watchful eye of Gordon de
Adamich. From these, the best six from
each country will be chosen to enter the
training camp of Make It Your Race, located in Italy. There, they will be divided
into teams led by a coach, one for each
country, and judged by a panel of experts,
who will decide, every day, who to evict.
THE PREPARATIONS
ARE UNDERWAY
Meanwhile Gordon de Adamich, together with his drivers at the Varano de’ Melegari
School of Safe Driving are putting the final touches to the 2012 version of Make It Your
Race. “It will be a blast - he says. I can’t wait to get to know the young people and put
them through their paces on the track. We are definitely going to have a lot of fun”. If
last year is anything to go by, this year’s Make It Your Race is going to be talked about
for some time. “The contest - continues Gordon - has all the ingredients to bring out
the qualities of novice drivers. I think the initiative is commendable because it makes
the competitions truly accessible to everyone, just like Karl Abarth would have wanted.
We have the right set up, professional instructors who will monitor the rookies carefully
during their technical preparation, channelling their exuberance in the right direction,
pushing them to give of their best, all in a totally safe setting. And then there is the 500
Assetto Corse, a car you can trust, safe even when it is pushed to the limits”.

ELEGANCE
IS IN THE
SMALLEST DETAILS
IN TIMES OF CRISIS THERE ARE NEW TRENDS IN THE LUXURY INDUSTRY. ANGLOPHILES
CALL IT DOWNSIZING. OUT WITH OSTENTATION: SIMPLE YET EXCLUSIVE THINGS ARE
REDISCOVERED AND VALUES SUCH AS QUALITY, CRAFTMANSHIP, AND ATTENTION TO
DETAIL IS BACK IN VOGUE.
After years during
which luxury items
were a source of pride
for those who could
afford them, when the
most famous brands
made a statement
through clothes or the
trendiest bags, when
taking an exclusive trip
was something to talk
to your friends about,
now sobriety has
made a comeback.
Coco Chanel said:
“Some people think
that luxury is the
opposite of poverty.
Well, it isn’t. It is the
opposite of vulgarity”,
suggested the famous
French style icon.
Nowadays more
than ever, against
the background of
the global crisis, the
potential sense of
shame with regard to
excessive luxury, or
“shouting about it”, is
being rediscovered.
Especially for those
who are in a position to buy whatever they
want, the ethical imperative of saving is back.
This does not mean that there will be a sharp
drop in top of the range products. Rather, we
will see a downsizing of ostentation in luxury
goods. This term downsizing comes from the
British and it is something that is affecting all
areas to some extent: from fashion to travel
and from jewellery to cars.
Nowadays, true luxury is seen as those simple,
yet exclusive items. It’s the pleasure that
something gives you, not the fact that you own
it. As well as the saying “small is beautiful”,
now there is quality, “tailor made”, attention to
detail. Uniqueness rather than visibility.
For example, exclusive travel now involves
more authentic, stimulating and responsible
trips. One of the latest trends to reach the
United States is eco chic travel: it’s called
glamping and consists of a sort of five star
camping. In other words ideal for experiencing
direct contact with nature, without giving up on
the comforts of a luxury resort. The rediscovery
of authenticity as opposed to opulence is also
at the basis of the Return to life advertising
campaign of the Virtuoso group, who specialise
in luxury travel: it starts with the assumption
that many top travellers nowadays want to
actually discover the true nature of the places
they visit, far away from traditional tourist
clichés. Ecoluxury should also get a mention,
the quality brand that brings together the best
retreats in the world, reserved for customers
who are fortunate enough to be in the high
end band, but with decidedly
eco-friendly
facilities.
As far as clothing is concerning, the First
Lady of America, Michelle Obama, echoes
that sobriety in the way she dresses. And
even if not everyone is taking up the invitation,
the days of that shameless opulence of the
most fashionable brands might seem to be

numbered. There is a return to craftsmanship
in this industry as well, to the extent that a
style icon like Valentino has carved how many
hours it takes to make them into the soles
of his shoes and a brand like Louis Vuitton
bases its communication around the concept
of being handmade.
The new lovers of luxury prefer the quality of
fabrics and hides, the uniqueness of an item
that is handmade. Like bags and accessories
in Tramontano leather, made exclusively in the
Naples workshops and distributed throughout
the world under a unique brand with almost
one hundred and fifty years of history behind it.
A brand that is synonymous with elegance and
Italian workmanship and which is appreciated
abroad by so many celebrities for whom
Tramontano often makes made to measure
travel bags, bags and suitcases: from Woody
Allen to Tom Cruise, from Bono of U2 to
Sigourney Weaver, from Hillary Clinton to
Queen Margaret II of Denmark. It is not by
chance that Abarth turned to Tramontano for
its travel accessories: from the bags made for
the Limited Edition Cabrio Italia to the beach
bag that goes with the extremely luxurious
Sacs tender - Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari, from
the Tribute to Abarth travel pack, coordinated
with the interior of the 595 Turismo and
Competizione in that very fashionable grey,
combined with the 695 Tributo Maserati.
This typically glamorous Made in Italy concept
with great attention to detail has also been the
inspiration for the Abarth Tales line, a collection
that includes about forty very exclusive items
of clothing, which echo the same attention to
detail as those worn by Karl Abarth when he
was a driver and reflecting his design: shirts,
tracksuits, polo shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and
trousers, designed to be as comfortable as
possible for driving in. In other words functional
clothing that is very stylish and which is made
from premium materials providing a modern
take on the brand and which contains the
same traditional passion, refinement and
craftsmanship.
This is true Abarth luxury. A striking example
is the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari, an exclusive
car with almost obsessive attention to detail,
which, on the one hand has allowed the
scorpion to extend its range entering the most
glamorous sports section, and, on the other
hand, offers customers of the Prancing Horse
a small, snappy alternative for all their mobility
requirements, including the most practical town
driving.
The history goes on with the 695 Edizione
Maserati unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.
Another foray into the world of sports cars
and luxury in a limited edition. A mechanical
masterpiece with the soul and the symbol of
the scorpion; not just “mall, but wicked”.
“Small, and glamorous” too.

interior of the Abarth Cabrio Italia.

MERCHANDISING
36
37
MERCHANDISING
MAKING THE ORDINARY EXTRAORDINARY THAT’S WHAT WE HAVE BEEN DOING FOR OVER 50
YEARS. IT’S A PHILOSOPHY THAT WE’VE TRANSFERRED FROM THE WORLD OF MOTORS TO
THE WORLD OF COMPUTERS, CLOTHING AND MUCH MORE BESIDES. BECAUSE AT ABARTH
WE BELIEVE THAT OUR SKILLS CAN BE APPLIED TO EVERYTHING.
THESE ARE SOME OF OUR SUCCESS STORIES
WITH THE SCORPION IN YOUR HEART
For those who have the Scorpion close to their heart, even when they are not behind the wheel of their
car, Abarth offers a line of young, dynamic sports clothing with lots of different sweatshirts, polo shirts,
baseball caps and t-shirts. All backed by the quality of the Kappa brand.
This year’s spring-summer collection has three lines. A brand new BAMBINO line, the first edition of a
collection that takes the most successful adult clothes and makes them available for the youngest fans
of the Scorpion. The RACING REPLICA line is the restyling of the previous edition dedicated to Abarth
enthusiasts and includes all the most successful garments. Lastly, the VINTAGE line includes the most
exclusive garments, inspired by what the drivers in the sixties wore. When they wore overalls, either onepiece or two-piece: a jacket and trousers, in cotton, because flame-resistant Nomex was just starting
to appear. The main colours were white, cream and light blue, often with coloured stripes personalising
the clothing. Jimmy Clark, for example, had a red stripe on his overalls, whilst Steve McQueen who
alternated stints behind the wheel with movie sets, had two parallel stripes on his chest: one red, the
other blue. Gloves then, were made from leather. Many drivers wore golf gloves, made to measure in
soft, thin goatskin.
A REALLY SPECIAL
TRAVEL PACK
There’s a style lesson to be learnt when you see
the Abarth and Tramontano brands together; the
leather goods brand with over 150 years of history,
known throughout the world. Following on from the
success of the Limited Edition Abarth 500 Cabrio
Italia, a line of elegant leather bags matching the
leather interior of the Abarth 500 is available. The
range is synonymous with Italian elegance and
craftsmanship. For those who care about every
single detail.
You can buy the official Scorpion merchandise simply with one click. Simply go to;

ABARTH TALES SPRING-SUMMER COLLECTION
As you read in “The Scorpion Tales” article, Karl Abarth, the ingenious car manufacturer, was also a
skilled designer. The line of men’s sports clothing known as Abarth Tales® was born from his original
sketches, developing them and giving them a contemporary feel.
No nostalgia was involved, no retro clothing: simply a collection that embodies the same values of
functionality, refinement, originality, craftsmanship and tradition. The very same spirit that Karl used in
preparing cars.
The Abarth Tales® spring-summer collection in particular contains 3-buttoned single-breasted jackets
with stand and fall collars and a single pocket. Jackets in high-tech cloth with two pockets at the front,
unlined loom work and metal buttons, in the sports tradition. Fresh cotton sweatshirts with pads on the
elbows to facilitate movement.
Jackets with an impeccable look in white, red or smoky grey. Available with matching, light sports cut
trousers in the same colours, the Abarth Tales® bestselling “t-pants”, perfect for driving and also for
those who prefer to cycle in their leisure time.
So many versatile, sports clothes where every detail has been considered so as to ensure maximum
comfort behind the wheel, from the position of the pockets to the stitching, no detail is too small. A
collection exuding Italian style, and the very best craftsmanship: from the design, to the choice of fabric,
to the manufacturing, to the perfection with prestige details.
The theme running through this spring-summer collection, as always, is the reference to the Abarth
philosophy: performance, speed and refinement. And, obviously, the symbol of the Scorpion, chosen by
Karl Abarth himself as a lucky charm because it was his sign of the zodiac.
Dedicated to those who do not let themselves be dictated to by fashion but love an elegant look and
always want to be stylish, the Abarth Tales exclusive clothing is on sale in a limited number of boutiques
in Italy. Find the nearest one to you at www.abarthtales.com, or call the infoline on 0827215050.

ESSEESSE KIT
The whole is worth more than the sum of the parts. Take the incredible performance of
the historical esseesse kit – already unbeatable in terms of power, torque and speed -,
add the total control, stability and response of Koni professional shock absorbers, and the
result is an aggressive power with incredible reserves of power. The road is waiting for you.
KIT
Substance meets form: a kit developed
especially for those who want to increase
both the performance and aesthetic appeal
of their Abarth 500. Featuring outstanding
technical specifications, including the Abarth
Brembo floating braking system, guaranteeing
a notable improvement in the car’s braking
power and shorter braking distances.
ESSEESSE KIT
The classic kit that never goes out of fashion.
One of the very first Abarth tuning kits, given a
modern makeover to meet the needs of Abarth’s
new stable of sports cars. The ‘Esseesse’ kit
leaves you open-mouthed when it comes to
performance: more torque, more acceleration,
more speed. Dedicated to all those who are
looking for an aggressive car that has the special
Abarth feel and is incredibly ‘fun to drive’.

ABARTH BREMBO BRAKING
SYSTEM KIT
It may be essential in a racing context, but
when it comes to day-to-day driving, too,
it is essential to have a high-performance
braking system. That’s why Abarth has
developed a specific kit using the Brembo
system, enabling faster dissipation of the
heat generated when braking, resulting in
greatly improved response when stopping.
This has been achieved by the introduction
of a floating disc and a larger brake calliper
(which has the benefit of realigning the brake
pad with the disc).
ABARTH
SUSPENSION KIT
A specific kit designed to improve steering
response and precision, and creating a
better feeling between the driver and the car.
This kit is dedicated to all those who wish to
get the very best from their car, not only in
terms of performance, but also in terms of
ride comfort and safety, by providing better
road-holding, greater stability and improved
handling.
ABARTH
SUSPENSION KIT
Real drivers never underestimate the
importance of their car’s suspension, because
they know that the car’s responsiveness
depends on it, as does steering precision
and safety behind the wheel. The Abarth Koni
Suspension Kit offers all these characteristics
in spades, optimising the car’s behaviour
and creating a better feeling between it and
the driver. The result is better performance,
more comfort, better road-holding and
greater stability.

RECORD MONZA EXHAUST
SYSTEM KIT
What is it that makes an Abarth truly
unmistakable?
Its
sound:
powerful,
aggressive… In other words, unique! The
new range of RECORD MONZA exhausts
is based on this idea, and offers a series
of super-high-performance exhausts with
attractive styling, developed using Dual Mode
technology, which can get the very best
sound at engine speeds of over 4000 rpm.
Try it on the road, you’ll be sure to turn
heads!
