S
ince 1961 Fun Time has experienced many transitions. Fun Time has
grown from its roots as a neighborhood nursery school to a nationally
accredited early childhood academy. For 37 years the children came to
the little doublewide trailer until it could no longer serve them safely. Now Fun
Time boasts our state-of-the-art 8000 square foot building where 84 children
are educated all day year-round in a safe, secure environment. Today we are a
financially strong institution with a loyal donor base and a deeply committed
board of directors.
Fun Time has had many talented leaders at the helm guiding it through its many changes. It
has been my honor and great pleasure to serve as the Executive Director for the past nine years.
I will be leaving Fun Time this summer, reducing my professional obligations and spending
more time visiting my grandchildren in Boston. I am maintaining my home and life in our
beautiful Naples community.
Our Director of Education, Julie Noyes, will also be retiring this summer. Julie has tirelessly led
us to incredible academic achievements. For eight years Julie has continuously raised the bar,
expecting and supervising our teaching staff in reaching the highest quality markers. Lovingly
and professionally Julie has pushed us forward. She is leaving Fun Time strong and steady.
These past nine years have given Fun Time the promise of many tomorrows. The community
has an academic preschool institution for many generations to come. I am deeply grateful to
the community of generous supporters and dedicated volunteers and especially to Fun Time’s
unwavering devoted board of directors. Fun Time is generously supported by United Way of
Collier County and Naples Children and Education Foundation, founders of the Naples Winter
Wine Festival and many generous individuals, foundations, churches and businesses.

C
ongratulations to the “Set Sail for Fun Time” Gala Event Chairs and Committee. It was a tremendous
success! Many thanks to Lynn Nolan and Roma Michnal, the event co-chairs, and to the committee
of wonderful and dedicated volunteers who make this event happen year after year. Thank you to our
sponsors, underwriters, patrons, donors and attendees who so generously continue to support Fun Time.
On a more serious note, Franny Kain, Executive Director of Fun Time since 2006, has announced her retirement
effective June 1, 2015. Franny joined Fun Time after Hurricane Wilma left the old doublewide trailer roofless
and battered. Two years later under her direction, the trailer was replaced with a new state-of-the art facility.
Working closely with the board, she brought the school from financial despair to fiscal stability. Under her
leadership the academy achieved and has maintained national accreditation. Fun Time now boasts highly
qualified teachers, a large volunteer tutoring corps, enriched academic and life skills programs, strong parent involvement and a
significantly widened donor base.
The Fun Time community is saddened by Franny’s departure, but at the same time we are excited for her opportunity to spend more
time with her family, especially her grandchildren. We wish her health, happiness and much joy in this next phase in her life.
The process of recruiting a replacement has begun and the Board is confident that Franny’s successor will continue the vision and
dedication to the mission of preparing our children for Kindergarten, ready to read and ready to learn.
Fun Time is pleased to report that the March 3rd Give
Where You Live 30 fundraising campaign was highly
successful for the 30 non-profits in Collier County who
were chosen to participate. A grand total of $1,815,465
was raised in 24 hours! Fun Time’s 50 donors contributed
$26,250. We thank the Community Foundation of Collier
County and the Richard A. Schulze Family Foundation
as well as our many generous donors.

A
cruise themed evening was enjoyed by
350 guests when the USS Fun Time Set
Sail on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the
Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club.
With over 80 tempting silent auction and 6
spectacular live auction items to choose from,
along with a stunning set of David Yurman
jewelry generously donated by Bigham
Jewelers, everyone there had a chance to float
off with a fabulous prize.
New to the event, auctioneer Scott Robertson,
with great aplomb, “sold” a trip on The World Residences at Sea, a cruise on
Norwegian Cruise Line and an exclusive trip to Napa Valley, among other
items.
1,500 little blinking cruise ship necklaces were sold to directly benefit the
children and the upkeep of the school.
And when everyone had sailed away, the Gala grossed over $383,000.
