Nicois is a woman of God who is called to inspire and uplift
through the vehicle of music. She represents a chosen
generation full of expression, creativity, and poise. The singer
and songwriter has been saturated with an undeniable gift
of song and uses it to the glory of God.
Not one to be pigeon-holed, the D.C. area-based artist is
breaking out of the box, blending gospel, Christian rock and
urban sounds. Her passion lies in creating universal, powerful,
and effective music for the Christian believer that stretches
across genres, races and even, continents.
Born in Arlington, VA, Nicois’ desire to reach the masses
through the ministry of melodies was planted at an early
age. Church became a weekly part of her life during
summer visits with her grandmother. At the age of seven,
Nicois joined the choir at Macedonia Baptist Church where
she became a devout member. She participated in school
choirs as well. She quickly developed a passion for music
which perfectly accented her powerful, gut-wrenching voice.
However, it was after the death of her father that Nicois
began to immerse herself into writing and singing.
As a young adult, Nicois swayed towards the secular industry,
singing for local bands in the Washington, DC area while
working with local producers for various projects. Her career
as a secular singer was a successful one, but she always felt a little uncomfortable. “There was some-thing on the
inside of me that was saying, This isn't right; this isn't what you're supposed to be doing,” Nicois recounts. Gospel
music became a major focus and she began singing for a well-known gospel choir named Images of Unity under
the direction of the renown Kenny Taylor.
After singing for a funeral of a very close friend, Nicois was asked to be the lead singer of a renowned gospel
band called Krazy Praise. This vehicle allowed her to travel throughout the DC area, displaying her vocal talents
to congregations throughout the city. It was during this season of her life that she completed her first EP called
Everyday Blessings, several radio jingles, music for an independent movie soundtrack, and a Christian TV jingle for
a popular cable show.
After expressing to her First Lady that she desired a deeper relationship with the Lord and that she wanted to be
not just a singer but a minister, Nicois put everything down and fully immersed herself into her local church and
family. With the Holy Spirit as her teacher and guide, Nicois received the revelation of the true meaning, value,
and respect for Praise and Worship. For years she stepped away from performing music professionally so that she
could gain the understanding of scripture she felt was necessary to be an effective and relevant music minister.

In October 2011, Nicois stepped back into the studio and
released her second EP called Undeniable. One of her most
popular songs to date, the title track has been gaining rave
reviews no matter where she sings it. Other amazing tracks
include “Take Everything”, “Burn It All Down” and “Elohim”.
Married and a mother of three, Nicois has learned to
balance the demands of music, ministry, and family life. As a
Worship Leader and Choir Director at Agape Embassy
Ministries in Kingstowne, VA, Nicois currently serves her
Pastor and First Lady in leadership and has graduated from
the Leadership & Bible Institute with a certificate in Biblical
Studies. Nicois’ parents, Jeremiah and Shelia Carter, are
Pastor and First Lady of Bethel Tabernacle UHCA Church in
Buffalo, NY.
Nicois’ ministry (NicoisMusic), is based strictly on the word of
God with the goal of encouraging the nations to engage in
conversations with God about their purpose, prosperity, and
destiny. It is the word of God that manifests change,
deliverance, healing and salvation. Our mission is to create
music based on God's word that will bring forth the vision.
Nicois’ music ministry isn't typically what audiences hear
from a gospel artist. The Lord has given her a unique calling.
“God told me that my ministry is to the nations,” explains
Nicois. “Because of that, my music contains some gospel,
some CCM and some urban. My music has an international
flair.”
It's that “international flair” that opened doors for Nicois to minister in Africa, specifically Ghana in October 2011.
The impact her ministry has had on her international audience has been quite humbling for the artist. In addition,
she's been requested to come to other countries later this year.
Nicois has been blessed to share the stage with artists such as Y’anna Crawley, Vickie Winans, Karen Clark-Sheard,
Shirley Caesar, Tye Tribbett, Brandon Camphor and One Way, Daryl Coley, Maurette Brown Clark, Martha
Munizzi, Lisa Bellamy, Phillip Carter and SOV, Iyona Blake, Gideon Band, Ten Commandments Band and many
others.
Nicois has released her new album Un-Di-Ni-A-Bel, which showcases her talents as producer, composer and
arranger. Her eclectic style contains influxes of traditional, neo soul, and contemporary gospel with the word of
God as its foundation. Nicois says, “Music should not just be encouraging and uplifting, but based on the Word of
God to have the power to change lives."
