over time. Both the lid and body of a YETI®
are one-piece and have no seams to fail.
Ordinary coolers are injection and/or blowmolded. These processes are relatively
inexpensive, high-volume manufacturing
methods commonly used for everyday
products like soda bottles.
YETI® Coolers are
roto-molded just like
whitewater kayaks.
On the other hand, YETI® Coolers are
rotational-molded (roto-molded), like
whitewater kayaks, to ensure impact
resistance and long-term durability. This
process is more costly, but the end result is
a cooler with a superior durability advantage. Once you handle a YETI®, you’ll notice

YETI®’s full-length, integrated
hinge system will not fail
The first thing to go on most coolers is the
lid hinge. Whether it’s a door-style hinge or
a molded plastic hinge, it is prone to fail.
The lid hinge on a YETI® is molded right into
the cooler. A full-length aluminum rod
connects and holds the body and lid
together. And, hinge-stops are molded into
the lid, so the hinge can’t hyper-extend and
break.

insulation and a full-frame gasket translate
into dramatically superior ice retention.
Thicker cooler walls mean more
cold-containing insulation
The walls in our best-selling YETI® Tundra
are two inches thick and filled with
premium polyurethane insulation for
maximum ice retention. You’ll typically find
just ½ inch of insulation in ordinary “disposable” coolers and maybe an inch in the
more expensive models. The bottom line is
that insulation thickness correlates to ice
retention and YETI® is second to none!

We put even more insulation
in our lids
Because a cooler lid is subjected to the heat
of direct sunlight, we opted to put three
inches of premium insulation in the lids of
all YETI® Tundra Coolers. That’s 50% more
insulation than in the cooler walls! We find it
utterly amazing that some cooler manufacturers put absolutely no insulation in their
lids. That’s like insulating the walls of a
home, but not the attic.
Keeping things cold is what a cooler is all about.
With thicker walls, more than twice the insulation
and a full-frame gasket, YETI® out-performs the
competition-it’s not even close!

Tips To Maximize Ice Retention*
1. Pre-cool your cooler – Starting with a warm cooler
consumes a lot of ice in order to cool the heavily insulated
walls.
2. Use quality ice – Ice can get much colder than its
freezing point. Warm ice, that is ice near 32°F, is typically
wet to the touch and dripping with water, thus will not
last very long. Cold, sub-zero ice is relatively dry and will
last substantially longer.
3. Freeze or pre-chill contents – Prior to loading, freezing
or pre-chilling cooler contents like meat or beverages will
help your ice last longer.
4. More ice, the better - We recommend filling your cooler
with as much ice as possible. Ideally you want to have an ice
to contents ratio of at least 2:1.
5. Use dry ice – Unlike ordinary coolers which become brittle
and crack, it is safe to use dry ice with a YETI®. Dry ice provides
approximately 3X the cooling power of regular ice and leaves
more room for contents.

Your YETI® can do double duty. The
YETI® Cooler seat cushion has at least
two inches of dense foam and is made of
tough, white, UV marine vinyl stitched with
GORE® TENARA® Sewing Thread. Screw the
