Normal ventilation
Ventilation is activated by the module line when any of the installed detectors reaches a CO concentration
equal or higher than the level programmed, and after confirming it with a second measuring.
Same way, ventilation is deactivated when the highest value is below the ventilation level programmed, and
after confirming it with a second measuring.

Economical ventilation
Ventilation is activated by the module line if, after doing the average reading between the higher and lowest
values detected, the level reached would be equal or higher than the one programmed. In addition, a second
measurement would be needed in order to confirm. Then, ventilation operations get reduced, saving
electrical energy with no loss of effectiveness regarding place's protection.

2 filaments are connected (400/500ºC), eliminating gas

Checking detector's functioning

Use specific gas bottles for that purpose (recommended concentration at 1000ppm)
•
Wait until detector is about to measure (LED in rapid blinking) for spraying gas at the entrance
grill of the detector during a few seconds. Then cover it.
•
After 20s, the module line will reflect the concentration measured.
Remember that:
•
Gas bottles usually have high CO concentrations that might provoke the saturation of the detector.
•
The measurement of a precise concentration is only possible in laboratory conditions.
•
Gas bottles do not weight and CO is invisible and odorless.

Before taking the detector away from its base, remember that the module line must be disconnected by pushing ON/OFF in the keyboard.

Pull away strongly by the filter in order to separate it from its base.

Replace the filter by a new one, pressuring the latter with strength until it
gets properly fixed at the base.

Calibration with target gas
In order to CALIBRATE DETECTORS, it is necessary that the detector is sent to our factory, due that all conditions
of the process are strictly controlled and it is the only way of assuring the functioning of all detectors for 5 years
more.

Calibration
All detectors manufactured by DURAN ELECTRONICA have been calibrated in our factory and do not require calibration at work.
Calibration process conditions in our laboratories are optimum, and always preferable to any manipulation at work.
DURAN 203 Plus detectors, either the new ones or replacements, have been subjected to AGING and PREWARNING processes
before being calibrated with target gas.
Before its calibration, the detector will be connected to the aging panel.
Afterwards, it is connected to the semiautomatic calibration system and later it
is placed in the panel again where it will stay for 24 hours more. Its stability will
be watched, before being assembled and packed.

AT WHAT DISTANCE MUST CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS BE INSTALLED FROM EACH OTHER?
F.A.Q.
It depends on different national standards. In Spain, and according to the Norm UNE 100 166:2004 (ventilation in underground car parks) a detector must be
installed every 200m2
AT WHAT HEIGHT AND WHERE MUST CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS BE INSTALLED?
The optimum height of the installation is between 1,5 and 2m from floor, in walls or columns.
In underground car parks, detectors must protect vehicle circulation corridors.
For the establishment of this measure, several considerations have been taken into account:
Technical
Molecular weight of CO is very similar to molecular weight of air (28.01 for CO and 28,96 for air), and therefore, CO will not tend to
rise up to the ceiling and it will not stay at ground level either.

These are the results obtained by the proofs implemented by DURAN ELECTRONICA.

The optimum location must be at the average height of a person.

HOW TO CALCULATE THE TOTAL NUMBER OF MODULE LINES IN THE INSTALLATION?
The number of module lines will depend on the number of ventilators and/or floors in the facility. Every module line will control one of these
ventilators and/or floors, jointly with detectors, although maneuver outputs from several module lines can also be connected in parallel in
order to control a ventilation group. In this case, electricity consumption will be higher due that detection areas are not being sectorized with
ventilation areas.

HOW TO CONNECT VENTILATION?
Module lines incorporate a D.O. relay, C NA NC, in order to activate the contactor boil at 230V located in the ventilators maneuver panel. These, if
cabled properly, act as a serial switch with the contactor boil. Remember that relay outputs do not provide 230V.
HOW ARE DURAN 203 PLUS DETECTORS CONNECTED?
Using 3 parallel unifilar conductor 1,5mm2 section.
No end line device is needed, it is possible to make any kind of junction, although its cabling must be independent.
HOW TO CHECK THE CORRECT FUNCTIONING OF DURAN 203 PLUS DETECTOR?
It is recommendable to use CO bottles.
The detector measures every 2,5 minutes. 15 seconds before carrying the measurement out, the LED in the detector blinks repeatedly
and, at that very moment is when carbon monoxide must be applied to the detector, which has to be covered afterwards. Once measurement
has been made, the detector has to be covered for 2,5 minutes more and then, when making a second carbon monoxide measurement equal or
higher than the one programmed, it will tell the control unit to act.
Remember that diesel vehicles do not generate carbon monoxide.
CAN DURAN 203 PLUS SYSTEM INCORPORATE BATTERIES?
Due to consumption of detectors, control units are not ready to incorporate batteries. However, in case of main power fault, and for giving a certain
autonomy to the system, if the current legislation would require it, supplementary control units are available for them to function automatically
before this kind of situations.
CAN I HAVE ANY PROBLEM WHEN INSTALLING DURAN 203 PLUS CLOSE TO ELECTRICAL BOXES?
No. The control unit incorporates a grid filter in order to avoid electromagnetic interferences produced by electrical boxes, although it is
recommendable to install DURAN 203 Plus system far away from them.
