Fine Arts & Visual Communication
Graphic design and Hawaii-style brand consulting with
expertise in brand development, brand management,
corporate communications and marketing.
We offer unique design solutions that are cohesive, consistent and right on target.
Strategic branding, corporate collateral, websites and direct mail, that strengthen the brand promise
and increase positive awareness for your business and services.
I am a German Art Director and Designer with 20 years experience in fashion related print design, high-end
creative concepts and international advertising. In the summer of 2005, I moved from New York (Sr. Art
Director at Macy's for 12 years) to Hawaii and my life has changed quite dramatically: now I prefer jogging
from Sunset Beach to Banzai Pipeline before breakfast - compared with rushing down 34th Street in Midtown
Manhattan, heading to the office, and sometimes I attend "board meetings" behind the house.
I love what I do & feel very lucky to live and work on this incredible island, as long as I am creating and
communicate visually. I work hard, in hopes that I will put good and creative work into the world; have elegant
type skills and a good eye for visuals, along with the technical expertise, and I feel blessed to have the eyes
to see beauty everywhere and the heart to appreciate it. I know I am doing exactly what I was made to do
– and hope to grow and improve, as long as I am on my creative/artistic path.
"I feel blessed that I have the eyes to see beauty
everywhere and the heart to appreciate it.

Over time, I created an array of corporate identities, brochures, advertisements, book concepts and designs, trade
show concepts, displays and booth development (2013 Surf Expo in Florida) as well as conference collateral, for
'Conservation International' in Washington, 'Applied Brilliance' and 'The Fashion Group' in New York, identities
and sales collateral for 'Naked Cow Dairy' and 'KM Boards Hawaii' on Oahu, and as Sr Designer on the Creative
Team for 'Coco Palms' on Kauai, 'Ka'anapali Coffee Farms' on Maui, 'Hokulia' and 'Kukio' on the Big Island,
just to call out a few. In addition, I work for a couple of non profit organizations throughout the islands.
Background info about my life and my profession
I studied Visual Communication at the Design Faculty in Bielefeld (Germany), then moved to New York City
as a Fulbright Scholar in 1991 to attend Parsons School of Design and The New School for Social Research
in Manhattan, where I finished my Master of Art in Media Studies. I became Senior Art Director at Macy’s
headquarters for Federated Department Stores in New York and was responsible for all fragrance, cosmetic and
watch advertisements and collateral for the North East US region. After 12 years as Senior Art Director in New
York City, I decided to give up my loft on Manhattan’s West Side in exchange for a nice little house in the Pupukea
Hills on Oahu’s North-Shore, and took advantage of a new and challenging offer as Design Director in Honolulu.
In 2006 I had the opportunity to join a creative team at a Honolulu based premier design and consulting firm,
that provides Hawaii-style brand development and management (22 years in business). This opened up many
opportunities to exciting projects and design challenges, and my skills assisted to shape the perception of their
clients, by developing comprehensive communications strategies and marketing identity systems with emphasis
of consistency and continuity of design to the overall brand equity. This approach strengthened existing brands
and produced a clear understanding of the individual brand message.
In 2009, I joined forces with a small group of talented creatives on island, and experienced that the best
philosophy to be successful, is to share resources, collaborate with other talents and contribute to the overall
success of a project - maybe create something new and unexpected within the process. With a fine-tuned
eye and a sophisticated sense for text and image; I have been able to apply my skills to many award winning
projects in the US but also in Europe, won several Pele Awards, as well as awards from the Honolulu chapter
of AIGA, [American Institute for Graphic Arts], and taught 3 classes at Pacific New Media at the University of
Hawaii at Manoa. (1. Introduction to Desktop Publishing, 2. Design & Project Management, 3. Visual Poetry).
With a small and enthusiastic team of professionals, I am very interested to assist you with design, marketing
and representation; possibly developing innovative creative concepts and more complex visual strategies, as
well as context development, architecture and structure of your desired web presence - to support your business
as an off-site component and reliable resource.
It is my belief that good people will always connect, one way or another.
I appreciate you takeing the time to review my work on the following pages.

Harald-M. Lehnardt founded dolceVita 1995 in New York City, where it functioned as a portal
for his freelance assignments as artist and designer in addition to his Senior Executive position at Federated
Department Stores in Manhattan. In 2009 dolceVita transformed to the dolceVita Group, a collaboration with
creative resources in the continental US and additional key members from the design community on Oahu in Hawaii.
dolceVita is a full-service creative consultancy, offering original and engaging design solutions, that
service a broad range of markets and industries. We provide integrated marketing and design initiatives from
start-ups to established brands, develop new ideas and strategies by listening, trend watching, researching and
creating visually appealing communication pieces and smart advertising that help achieve the client’s vision.
A visionary creative team with 20+ years experience in consumer advertising, corporate identity, concept
development, sales promotion, publication design, packaging, photo styling and art direction; with the desire
to create a common understanding by telling a unique project story that guides the conceptual approach,
marketing and sales. Special emphasis is placed on Hawaii-style brand image development, the creation of
Hawaiian based retail concepts and management, that appeal to residents and to visitors alike.
We assist start up companies and community based organizations, respect their needs and budgets,
yet strive to deliver excellent work that meets their needs and supports the purpose of their service or product.

Editorial copy here – the way of living in connection, or harmoniously, with the laws of nature;
living in connection with god, nature and man – is called Ka nohona lokahi.
There is a pure sense of grace and harmony when the world of nature reminds man
that he is a part of the natural rhythms of the universe.
de Reus Architects calls upon this sense of connection in all their projects.

2012 Applied BrilliAnce conference
is open for registrAtion!
This year we have another provocative line-up of speakers who will present indoors and outside in the
gardens of the beautiful Sonoma Mission Inn in Sonoma, California. Afternoon activities will include wine
tours in the local vineyards, as well re-booting in the award-winning spa facilities at the Inn.
Applied Brilliance reveals the most important emerging trends through the filter of
14 brilliant speakers ranging from poets, philosophers and economists, to scientists, artists and futurists. They make sense of the complexity we face every day and untangle the mysteries of some of the
most challenging questions of our interconnected global society. Through a systems-thinking approach,
speakers and attendees engage in spontaneous, interactive experience that investigates, questions, and
reveals solutions to some of our most interesting life-design problems.
Knowledge and awareness can change a person. Applied Brilliance is designed to rediscover
the joy of deepening self-knowledge and wisdom. The experience provides enlightening new perspectives, and meaningful connections with a talented group of insiders who discover new ways to enrich
their lives and unlock the secrets that help make smarter decisions at work and at home. Brilliance is not
didactic. In a beautiful, natural setting, we work together in a series of interactive problems solving exercises alongside peers and presenters to contribute to cross-disciplinary solutions. You will experience
brilliance in theory and applied in action as our presenters find solutions in unrehearsed case studies.
the theme this year is Balancing Acts in an open source World: truth, Beauty, Virtue,
grace. The rules of innovation, creativity and solutions have changed. Every great idea is open to repurposing, reframing and redefining at warp speed; the level of information and choices available, all
constantly changing, all at once dazzling and dizzying. The cultural conversation today is focused on
exploring new ways of experiencing truth, beauty, virtue and grace from the computer screen to the coffee house, all in context of constant change. How do we best balance our lives, both professionally and
personally, in an open source, disruptive world on fast-forward? Applied Brilliance looks into these and
other emerging trends and macro cultural shifts that reframe how we live in an inter-connected world.

Dr. Gregory Stock, Consulting, Branding + Web Identity
Appearances
Unlike many bio-ethicists and visionaries, Stock considers it
useless to think about how we could – if we only had the power redesign our world to make it a better, fairer, more perfect place.
His focus is understanding the world as it is. He looks at the key
technological drivers of today – rapidly advancing computational
capabilities and our emerging capacity to reshape our biology –
and tries to understand where they are taking us.
He sees our world as emergent not designed, and though we
might hope to shape its future form by altering its workings, the
complexities are such that the ultimate consequences will necessarily be hidden from us.

Books
Stock believes that this is an unprecedented time not just in human history, but in the history of life, and that we are at a transitional moment in evolution that will be viewed as such thousands
or even millions of years from now. After all, we are in the process
of breathing into silicon a complexity that rivals life itself, and we
are also beginning to consciously modify and adjust the very processes of life itself. Can life ever be the same?
Stock, a biophysicist by training, comes at these big issues in
pragmatic, down-to-earth ways that challenge our thinking and
our values. He has been a major game changer who takes on controversial issues at seminal conferences, and through his books,
television and radio appearances, lectures and public debates.
His goal is not to provide answers or even to achieve specific
policy directions, but rather to challenge people’s thinking, to move
public discussion towards deeper underlying issues, and to shift
the context of policy debate by taking us back a step so that we
can appreciate the immense shifts that are so relevant to these

Visionary
Stock believes that a deep shift is occurring in our sense of the
human and in our vision of who we are and what we might become. He explores this through diverse questions about what it
might mean to alter fundamental aspects of our biology, to construct conscious beings from silicon, to carry forward our rapid
pace of technological development.

LEARN HOW TO PROTECT YOUR COMPANY AT SUPERGEEKS' 2-DAY SECURITY
Scared? You should be.
Know your enemy.
Protect your company (and your job!)
Hackers love to exploit weaknesses.
If you are executive-level management,
you need to know how your enemy thinks,
what tools they use, and how to design
and implement strategies to thwart them.
Cracking, hacking, spoofifing, phishing, pinging, scanning…we will show
you how it’s done. You will learn the tactics, the lingo and the tools.
This will be 2 days of intensive hands-on training designed for top executives
with little or no knowledge of computer security but all the responsibility for it.
A 2007 study found that 65% of all organizations
do not provide periodic IT security training.
In other words, they probably have no plan

Fine Art Publishing + Merchandise (Harald-M. Lehnardt)
The synergy between text and image is my passion: my urge to discover and create new compositions by
adding text, word-fragments and single letters to distinct images – playful, yet with ‘intent.’ The combination of text
and image can tell stories – can ask questions – can make us aware of things, or simply be poetic and take us away for
a brief moment to different places, that are directed by our own imagination. Over time, I came to understand that the
successful philosophy in art and business is to share resources, to collaborate with other talents and to contribute to the
overall success of a project, through synergies of vision, as well as innovation: creating something new and sometimes
unexpected within the process.- During my 12 years as Sr. Art Director in New York City, I was integral to the planing
and execution of national product launches, major marketing strategies. In Hawaii, I learned immensely from my artistic
collaboration with Christian Riese Lassen in terms of business structure and focus, i. e.; building editions and creating
unique artistic resources.
I founded 'Kuliana Edition' in 2011, and created a platform where I collaborate with other artists and create beautiful,
unique and contemporary Hawaiian artwork in the process. We offer Digital Fine Art Prints in limited editions, or a thematic
series, including dramatic perspectives of the ocean, nostalgic elements of Hawaiian history and surf culture, as well as
inspiring poetic text-and-image compositions that will transform your interior environment into a sanctuary of spiritual
comfort and wellness. - Ten percent of our proceeds are donated to Hawaiian charitable projects, as a way to ‘give back’
celebrate the natural ‘Island Elements’ that inspire the visual and literary style of our unique and contemporary compositions.
Our collection is available in a choice of sizes, printed with archival-quality inks onto rich fine-art print substrates,
including brushed aluminum, acrylic, canvas, museum-quality papers and distinctive chrome metallic emulsions. Selected
compositions can be personalized upon request and custom orders are available. Kuliana Edition ship to Europe and Japan.
