BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, JUNE 18, 2005
J
enny (Weber) Hauser has “The Today Show” and
Match.com to thank for her fairy tale romance. One
morning while getting ready for work, Jenny saw a special on “The Today Show” featuring Match.com. Lonely and
unhappy with her job in Philadelphia, she impulsively decided to set up a profile on the Internet dating service later that
afternoon. Meanwhile, Ben who lived in Baltimore and had
heard about Match.com from friends, was scanning profiles
when he came across Jenny’s. They started talking, realized
all they had in common, including the fact that they both
attended the same college, Loyola College in Baltimore, and
decided to meet once Jenny quit her job and moved back to
Baltimore. Exactly six months after they met, Ben proposed
to Jenny amongst flowers and champagne.
Fate took them even further. Jenny and Ben not only decided to
get married, they also decided to go into business together. After
meeting, they learned they were both interested in opening their
own businesses. Jenny loved baking and Ben, whose father is Swiss,
grew up in the chocolate business. Within six months they opened
Glarus Chocolatier in Timonium, Md.—half a year to the day after
they were engaged.
The June 18, 2005 wedding was held at the inspiring Cathedral of Mary
Our Queen in Baltimore. This landmark cathedral echoed music from a
soloist and an organ as the bride marched down the long aisle in a private
label, Betsy Robinson gown. She carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas,
white peonies, sweet peas, white lilac and hostas while her six bridesmaids
held bundles of pink peonies, alchemillia and hostas.Jenny was one attendant
short since one bridesmaid went into labor unexpectedly on the night of the
rehearsal dinner! The groom and his seven attendants wore tuxedos by Neil
Allyn. Other important members of the bridal party included two young
flower girls and a ring bearer. Maid-of-honor Ann Ferguson assisted Jenny
while best man Damon Georgelas stood by Ben.
The reception was just as exquisite as the stunning gothic cathedral where
the ceremony was held. The elegant event, which took place in the backyard
of Jenny’s parent’s home, had a simple, yet sophisticated garden theme.

Fortunately, the weather cooperated for a perfect Baltimore day in the low 80s.
135 guests enjoyed an elaborate, catered meal complemented with chocolates
created by the couple. The festively lit tent stayed full of energy throughout the
night with a live band and late-night jukebox music. At the end of the night the
bride and groom sent their guests home with personally prepared boxes of
truffles from Glarus Chocolatier.
The newlyweds closed down the chocolatier and took a two-week honeymoon. They spent the first week in Bora Bora. Then, during the second week,
they flew to California, rented a convertible and drove to Las Vegas. What a way
to end a chanced encounter that proved to be everlasting love!
