Grades
standard grade gp48: ( hgs thickness: .048˝/1.2mm) the most commonly
used grade; recommended for both horizontal and vertical applications
where maximum impact resistance and durability are required. standard
grade materials can be cold bent to a radius no smaller than
12˝/304.8mm and formed with heat to a radius of 4˝/101.6mm.
• technical documentation and csi specification forms.
• online sample ordering.
• cad-ready high-resolution images of our products.
• inspirational case studies utilizing lamin-art products.
vertical grade gp28: (vgs thickness: .028˝/0.7mm) suitable
for both horizontal and vertical applications where the economies of
a thinner material are desirable and impact resistance is not as critical.
the surface durability of vertical grade material is the same as thicker
grades. vertical grade material can be cold bent to a radius no smaller
than 7˝/177.8mm and formed with heat to a radius no smaller than
5⁄8˝/15.8mm.
finishes for high pressure decorative laminate
note: due to their physical characteristics, we do not recommend
forming pearlescence® items with heat regardless of grade or finish.
catalyst® (b): a spiral-etched finish which creates a brilliance and
texture similar to that of burnished metal (lrv 18.0).
certifications
chrysalis® (a): a gently-etched pattern which creates a brilliance
and texture similar to that of brushed metal (lrv 10.0) recommended for
vertical/low wear applications only.
corrugated (c): a dimensional surface of alternating furrows and
ridges running lengthwise along the sheet, featuring a soft finish with
low reflective properties. (lrv 3.0) recommended for vertical/low wear
applications only.
crisscross (l): a subtle tactile grid of fine intersecting lines running
lengthwise and widthwise along the sheet (lrv 15.0). recommended for
vertical/low wear applications only.
diamond (d): a polished, high-gloss finish for a refined, elegant
effect. (lrv 90 - 110)
fine grain (fg): this subdued wood finish with low reflective properties
achieves its unique effect by blending a more realistic, vertical graining
with a subtle pore structure. (lrv 9.0)
gloss (g): a smooth, mirror-like finish suitable for applications where
high reflectivity is desired (lrv 100.0). recommended for vertical/low
wear applications.
relief (f, u): the tactile relief of the actual materials embedded in the laminate sheet. (abacá lrv 10.0, burlap lrv 6.0).
supermatte (sm): a softly textured surface with very low-reflective properties (lrv 2.0).
textured (t): a non-directional matte finish with moderate
reflective qualities (lrv 10.0).
vellum (e): a parchment-like, matte finish that is soft to the touch.
(lrv 12 - 16).
velva-tex (vt): a soft finish similar to hand-rubbed oiled hardwood
(lrv 16.0).

burlap is a textural decorative surface that incorporates jute cloth in the decorative surface. the result is an organic laminate with
random motif and texture that are imparted by the textile. each sheet is therefore unique, and the irregularities of texture and color
should be perceived as enhancing the beauty and authenticity of the product.

due to the inherent properties of jute textile, a natural material, and
the varying number of sheets that are cut from a given roll of fabric,
slight variations in color—due to varying dye lots and naturally
imbedded plant fibers—can be seen from one burlap sheet to another.
this is a normal occurrence, and is not considered a defect.
abacá is a distinctive decorative surface manufactured using recycled banana fibers incorporated in the surfacing of the
material. abacá offers an organic looking, non-directional design and textured material resulting from the banana fibers in the
material. abacá is made with natural materials, therefore slight variations in design and texture may occur from sheet to sheet.

veneer-art® high-performance wood veneer consists of selected natural veneers impregnated with a highly protective
melamine resin, and laminated with phenolic resin-impregnated kraft sheets. as a result, veneer-art boasts the same
water-resistance properties as high-pressure laminate while retaining the natural beauty of real wood. because veneer-art
is manufactured with genuine, not reconstituted wood, variations in color and grain will appear from sheet to sheet.
this is normal and should be considered when specifying or ordering veneer-art.

veneer-art® high-performance wood veneer consists of selected natural veneers impregnated with a highly protective
melamine resin, and laminated with phenolic resin-impregnated kraft sheets. as a result, veneer-art boasts the same
water-resistance properties as high-pressure laminate while retaining the natural beauty of real wood. because veneer-art
is manufactured with genuine, not reconstituted wood, variations in color and grain will appear from sheet to sheet.
this is normal and should be considered when specifying or ordering veneer-art.
grades
veneer-art® product composition
Thickness: .040” / 1mm
gp40 veneer-art grade: (.040˝/1 mm) designed for horizontal and
vertical applications where a moderate impact resistance and a highly
durable surface are desired. veneer-art can be cold bent to a radius of 8˝
(203.2 mm). we do not recommend forming veneer-art with heat to achieve
a smaller radius.
edgebanding
Highly durable melamine
finish, preserves the
natural grain structure
and texture of each species
Matching edgebanding is available for all Veneer-Art items
(.98” x 120”, .027” thickness).
Natural (not reconstituted)
wood veneer
when placing an order for veneer-art, we highly recommend that a
reference sample is provided so that lamin-art can attempt to match the
requested color as closely as possible. each shipment of veneer-art will
also contain a reference sample of the material supplied.

fabrication tips
rift-grain™ (rg): a dimensional surface inspired by the linear grain of rift
cut wood. narrow ridges enhance the veneers’ grain characteristics while
the matte finish provides for a natural aesthetic (lrv 3.0).
• a ll edges of veneer-art must be sealed in order to prevent moisture
penetration that could damage the veneer.
• veneer-art is not recommended for exterior use.
• v eneer-art sheets should be stored flat and face-to-face with a caul
board placed on top to preserve the material. we recommend storing
the panels in an atmospherically stabilized room to avoid extreme
fluctuations of moisture.
• panels and substrates should be conditioned for a period of 5 to 7
days in the same room, with atmospheric conditions as close as possible
to those of the installation site, while providing for air circulation
around the sheets.
• w hen gluing veneer-art, the surface to be glued must be sound,
thoroughly dry, clean and free of dust, wood chips, and oil. given the
real wood properties of the product, we recommend using a rigid bond
adhesive in conjunction with a hot or cold press to fabricate
veneer-art (hot-melt, pva, resorcinol, or urea type adhesives).
weathered grain™ (wg ): represents the natural texture of woods that
have been softened or dulled from exposure to the natural elements
such as wind, rain, or sun. it accentuates the natural characteristics and
structure of open grained veneers (lrv 5.0).
for complete fabrication and installation instructions for veneer-art®
high-performance wood veneer, please consult our veneer-art
installation sheet.
finishes
tru-grain™ (tg): a dimensional surface that follows the actual wood
grain and cellular characteristics of the veneer. the finish is soft and
velvet-like, adding luster and enhancing the overall beauty of the
veneer (lrv 15.0).
