Final Trivia Night
This Wednesday, April 6 is the final night
for this season of trivia at the Station
Neighbourhood Pub. It has been a great
event every Wednesday with lots of fun
had by everyone.
The final night will cost $5/person and the
prizes will be huge. It is going to be very
busy so entry is on a first-come, firstserved basis only. There will be no reservations! Trivia begins at 7 pm.

putting this together every week through

The Invermere Adult Slo-Pitch Captains’
Meeting is this Thursday, April 7 at 7:30
pm at the Invermere Fire Hall. All teams
should have at least one representative at
the meeting.
New players and new teams are invited to
attend. The meeting will offer an opportunity to review last season and get organized for the upcoming season.
Canal Flats Wilderness Banquet
The Canal Flats Wilderness Club is holding
their annual Trophy Competition Banquet
and Dance this Saturday, April 9 at the
Canal Flats Civic Centre.
The doors open at 6 pm and dinner is at 7
pm followed by awards and dancing to live
music by ‘Valley Forged’. There will be
raffles, door prizes, a ladies’ table & more.

Sing and Celebrate
This Sunday, April 10 at 7 pm swing by the
Alliance Church for a ‘Sing and Celebrate’

month a few folks get together to worship

The Truth About Cancer
Cancer is a brutal blight on humanity right
now and a lack of knowledge by everyone
is a huge issue. There are so many factors
that can contribute to it but it is primarily a
breakdown of our immune systems.
‘The Truth About Cancer: A Global Quest’
is a nine-part docu-series currently showing in the DTSS Theatre due to the efforts
of a small group of locals.
Episode 1 referred to Chemotherapy and
Pharmaceutical monopolies. Episode 2 (I
attended) was about facts and fiction,
breast cancer, hormones and essential
oils. It was incredible interesting and hopeful. The first 2 shows can be seen online
for free. I recommend watching them.
Episode 3 shows this Thursday, April 7 at
7 pm at DTSS. It is about viruses, stem
cells, GMO’s and more.
Donations will be accepted at the door to
help cover the cost of the series.

Lately I have been working on a bit of a
journey to find more happiness in my life.
You may have noticed that I write about it
often. I have been doing lots of inspirational reading, spiritual reading and attending the Alliance Church.
And the same messages keep coming to
me from every angle. Number one is to
give. Just give. Give your time, your energy, your cherished items and more. If
you know someone needs something and
you have it, why not give it to them? It is
right there in front of you. Joy from giving.
Experience it.
Number two is to not worry about what
others are up to. As in ‘quit judging people’. It is not our place. Consider that we
are all on separate journeys and we all
believe that what we are doing is the right
thing. It is not up to me to tell you what I
think you are doing wrong. You will figure
your life out on your own and grow from
the experiences.
And it definitely has been helping me. Letting go of others’ lives helps a lot. And
well, giving is an amazing experience.

I heard an
incredible
thing on the
fishing boat
last
week.
Rob had a friend out for the first time and
they were discussing dogs (Tilly and I are
a bit of a workload getting set up on a boat
but once we settle, it’s all good).
Richard had rescued a dog a year or so
ago and I myself am a rescued dog. Richard said that he will always get rescue
dogs from now on. He figured the work
load was pretty minimal compared to training a puppy from scratch.
I totally agree. When Rob and Trudi took
me in, I was a nervous wreck. But now
after a few months I am so trustful of my
new home. They feed me, walk me and
most importantly, love me. What a life.
It is so easy to be a good dog when it is
coming from love. I rarely bark anymore,
come when called and my tail is wagging
constantly. I have everyone wrapped
around my paw. Thanks to all the loving
pet owners out there.

the importance to all of our supporters.

April 10 to 16, 2016 is National Volunteer
Week, a time to celebrate and thank all
volunteers, especially the ones at the Invermere Thrift Store.
The store is run fully by volunteers and in
2015 the 81 volunteers logged 16,500 volunteer hours. That is amazing! Without
them there would not be a thrift store so
successful that $1,424,278 could be donated to the valley’s health care services.
A volunteer action is like a stone thrown in
a lake; its effect has a direct impact. At the
same time, like ripples, volunteer efforts
reach out far and wide to improve communities. Our Thrift Store volunteers do this
and they rock!

I am full of nervous excitement. My Mom is
coming to visit. It has been quite a while
since she has found her way to the Columbia Valley. I think she prefers to visit the
kids with kids (her grandkids).

Dance as she wants to see Abby playing

of Maddy’s soccer practices, something

Flushing
The municipality will be flushing its
community water system for 8 weeks
beginning the week of April 15.
This program, carried out twice yearly, is
necessary to maintain the quality of
our water supply.
There may be some short interruptions in the
water service and temporary discoloration of
water as a result of the sediment and organic
materials that are being flushed
from the water mains.
During this period, disinfection by
chlorination will be continued.
To assist the Public Works Department during the flushing operation, users are advised
that if they are experiencing persistent discoloration or odour problems with the water,
to immediately notify the Municipal Office
and explain the nature of the problem.
The District apologizes for any inconveniences caused by this operation.

The Invermere Legion’s Friday night dinner
this week (April 8) is baked chicken with
green salad, vegetables, Schwartzie’s potatoes and dessert.
I love Schwartzies’s potatoes. I had never
heard of them until Trudi introduced them
into my life. It is a delicious hashbrown,
cheese and mushroom casserole type
dish.

With last week bringing April Fool’s Day, it
was an interesting adventure. Many folks
believe everything that they read, no matter what the source. Especially on the
Internet.
There was a Facebook posting about the
government passing law regarding no kids
allowed home alone unless they were 15
years or older. It was a bit lengthy and
detailed but at the end it clearly said it was
an April fool’s joke.
Some readers became quite excited. Their
passion was so high that they didn’t read
the whole article but were quick to comment on how bad that would make things.
I saw a great joke regarding how April 1 is
the only day of the year that people question anything they read or hear.

Quite the Concept
I was trying to wrap my head around the
Earth the other day. It is quite the concept
that as we wander around in our daily lives,
we are actually on a ball that is hurtling
through space at thousands of miles an
hour. Think about that.
Head Games
The brain is an incredible thing. It has a lot
of control over us. At least me, anyways.
Golf is a perfect example. It can be a pretty
easy game sometimes; that is until the
brain gets involved (like most sports).
I seem to be able to stress myself into
some really poor golf shots. A bit of frustration and the next shot gets worse. A drop
in confidence and it really falls apart.
I had a great chuckle the other day at my
buddy’s comment, “Golf will probably be a
lot more fun with dementia. We will actually
be able to forget that last shot and just
move forward”.
Musically Inclined
Part of writing The Valley Peak is trying to
take in most of the events in the valley so I
have plenty to share with the readers. It is
amazing how much musical talent there is
within this valley, groups that play at all the
