Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
At this bountiful time of year, our Sunday readings teem with life and abundance. Both the first reading, from the
book of Wisdom, and the Gospel passage from Mark assure us that God did not make death or even will us to be ill.
Illness and death entered the world through the presence of evil, the Wisdom author tells us. Mark’s stories of Jesus
healing a hemorrhaging woman and resuscitating a dead little girl make it clear that Jesus is from God. As the son of
God he does not will that anyone suffer illness or death. In the face of such power, the second reading, from Paul’s
Second Letter to the Corinthians, provides a stark contrast. Jesus, who could raise the dead to new life, “though he was
rich, for your sake he became poor” ( 2Corinthians 8:9). Our gift of new life from Christ demands our response in
charity.

Today’s reading from St. Paul explains the “divine economy” of
stewardship — “The relief of others ought not to impoverish you;
there should be a certain equality. Your plenty at the present time
should supply their need so that their surplus may in turn one day
supply your need.”

In honor of the 4th of July, the parish office and Parish
Life Center will be closed on Friday, July 3rd.
There will be no 8:15 a.m. mass on July 4th,
mass will be held at 9:30 a.m.

RCIA INQUIRY CLASSES
Are you interested in learning more
about the Catholic faith? If so, come
to the inquiry classes which will be
held July 22nd and August 26th at
6:30 p.m. in the Fr. Sherman Room.
Then on Wednesday, September 2nd
and every week after that, the RCIA academic and
Catholic formation program begins. Those classes will
also meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Fr. Sherman Room.

A wonderful ministry that many don’t
see is our Sunday Offertory Counters.
This ministry works behind the scenes
counting the weekly collections and
keeping a written record of their
transactions. It is a very important
ministry, and one we need for the upkeep of the Church.
We are looking for a few good people to help fill this
ministry.
Teams consist of four counters and are assigned one week
per month. You should be in good standing with the
church, mature in faith and of excellent character. You
must be able to use an adding machine and be able to
follow written instructions. For those who want to help
the church in a behind-the-scenes way, this is a good way
to do it. If you feel you can help, please contact Kim at
the Administration Office at 243-3742.

Please remember that during the
summer Adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament continues every week from
9:00a.m. Friday to 8:00a.m Saturday.
If you are scheduled for a specific time
and you are unable to be there, please
make sure that you find a substitute. The Blessed
Sacrament should never be left alone. All are
encouraged to come and visit for a time with Our Lord.

YOUTH CHORUS CAMP
St. Mary’s Music Ministry is hosƟng a
Youth Chorus Camp!
If your student has completed the 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th grade,
we would encourage them to attend our youth chorus
camp! We are going to be learning vocal and breathing
techniques, music literacy and basic theory while singing
a varied repertoire of music.
The camp is from July 27th – 30th from 9:00 a.m. to noon,
every day, with a final performance July 30th at 6:00 p.m.
in the sanctuary of St. Mary Church.

familiares: Jairo el oficial de la sinagoga y la mujer afligida por una hemorragia
durante 12 años. Nos solemos maravillar al escuchar estos dos milagros de
Jesús, de curar a la mujer y de resucitar a la hija de Jairo. Esta semana İjate en
