While students can find just about everything they need in New
London’s shops and businesses—whether it’s groceries, eye glasses,
clothing, books or dorm room accessories—there are more options
available in either direction on Interstate 89.
The capital city of Concord, 25 minutes south of New London, is
a popular place to catch a movie, shop, dine, go bowling or attend
events. Independent and chain restaurants are plentiful, as are
big-name retailers such as Best Buy, TJ Maxx and Marshalls, Target,
Wal-Mart, Burlington Coat Factory, LL Bean, Bed Bath and Beyond,
and others.
Lebanon is 25 minutes north of New London and offers most of the
same options. Its neighbor, Hanover, is home to Dartmouth College
and many independent shops and restaurants.
