2010-2011 Registration
First School Day
Registration packets for the 2010 – 2011 school
year went home in March. If you have not sent
them in, please contact the District Office at (847)
949-2701 immediately!
Tuesday, August 17 will be the first day of school
for students attending Carl Sandburg Middle
School. School will be in session from 7:45 a.m.
until 9:45 a.m.
Sandburg Tiger Schedule Check In
Students will report to their homeroom, where they
will receive their complete schedule. The day is
designed as an orientation day, and students should
bring only a pencil, pen and notebook not their full
list of supplies. Students will run a shortened
schedule, which will give them an opportunity to
meet every teacher in their daily schedule.
Based on the overwhelming success of last year’s
Tiger Schedule Check - In, Sandburg is continuing
this event. Tiger Schedule Check - In is Thursday,
August 5th, 2010 from 8 – 10am, 12 – 3pm, 5 – 8pm
& Friday, August 6th from 8 -11am. At the Check In students and parents will:
 Review their tentative class schedule
 Purchase a PE shirt (Grade 7 & 8 only)
 Register with the PTO

Review your volunteer opportunities
Register electronically on PTO Manger
 Pick up pre-ordered school supply kits
 Receive an optional tour of Sandburg
Sandburg’s counselor, social worker, and office
staff will be on hand to assist students with
questions or concerns.
Please attend the Tiger Schedule Check - In on
August 5 or 6, 2010.
Wednesday, August 18, will be the first full day of
school; students will receive their lock, and be
assigned a locker so they will have a safe and secure
area to store all of their supplies.
Tiger Summer Reading Program
If you missed the information this spring: ALL 6 -8
grade Carl Sandburg Middle School Students
are required to read 1 book from the CSMS
Reading List this summer! The summer book list
enclosed. In May all students chose a book to
read. Students must read the book they chose!
Please complete your Summer Read!
The
Sandburg staff is also reading a book from the list
this summer. Feel free to read more then one
novel! There are 9 selections in all!
Carl Sandburg Middle School believes read to
succeed!

Sports Physicals and Dental Exams
Reminder
If your child is planning on participating in an interscholastic sport, they will need a physical form
turned in to the school nurse.
Incoming 6th grade students are required to have a dental examination; completed forms must be
on file with the school nurse.
