DESTINATION OF THE MONTH:
Cancun Underwater
Museum
Cancun’s top market offers a
colorful maze of souvenir stands
and jewelry shops that cover a
full city block, with several small
restaurants in the center so you
can grab a quick lunch during a
day of shopping. Market 28 is a
fun way to get the real Mexican
market experience, so be
prepared to haggle with the
vendors.
This waterfront neighborhood is
one of Cancun’s newest and
most beautiful areas—over the
next few years, the city will add
a large nature park, shopping,
restaurants, and more. For now,
Malecon Tajamar has a
delightful walkway along the
Nichupte Lagoon with amazing
views of the Hotel Zone skyline.
The heart of Cancun recently got
a facelift: Downtown Cancun’s
main street, Avenida Tulum, was
upgraded to feature wide
pedestrian paths on either side,
perfect for a leisurely stroll lined
with shops, small markets, bars,
and the City Hall building. You
can expect this active
neighborhood to become even
more tourist-friendly over the
next few years.
Cancún, a Mexican city on the Yucatán Peninsula bordering the
Caribbean Sea, is certainly paradise for beach lovers and sun
worshippers, but it is also a little slice of heaven for outdoor
enthusiasts, history buffs and thrill-seekers. It’s composed of 2
distinct areas: the more traditional downtown area, El Centro,
and Zona Hotelera, a long, beachfront strip of high-rise hotels,
nightclubs, shops and restaurants. Cancun is also a famed
destination for students during college’s spring break period.
Cancun beaches rank among the world’s most premier
seaside attractions. Consisting of powdery, white sand, the
beaches stretch for miles and miles and miles along the warm
blue waters of the Caribbean. Travelers who have stood on
these beaches and looked out over the sea have sometimes
counted up to fourteen different shades of blue.
Mayan ruins represent not only favorite Cancun destination
spots, but they also showcase some of the world’s most
important archeological finds. Cities like Tulum, Coba,
Chichén Itzá offer a magnificence unrivaled by few places in
the world, and are a definite must see attraction for all in
Cancun who love history, culture, and civilization.
Cancun Underwater
Museum MUSA It is a
Non-Profit Organization
based in Cancun México
devoted to the Art of
Conservation. This
museum has a total of
500 sculptures with
three different galleries
submerged between
three and six meters
started in 2009 and
completed at the end of
2013.
Cancun is a gastronomic
delight for foodies and
anyone else who enjoys a
delicious meal. A very
tasty kind of chicken soup
with a twist! It is based on
a light chicken broth and
served with shredded
chicken, deep fried
tortilla chips, and what in
the Yucatan Peninsula is
known as lima.
