Set For The Sky is a Commercial Alternative Rock Band from South Africa, Cape Town,
consisting of 5 young musicians working towards gaining international recognition in the music
industry.
Quick Facts:
Most of the members from Set For The Sky are still in their teens with oldest
members being only 21. (all members are over 18)
SFTS’s drummer, Brendon Von Gossler is endorsed by Saluda Cymbals.
They are independent, self-managed and have played over 40 inter-regional
shows and 3 festivals since they started at the beginning of 2013.
They are one of the liveliest acts you will see in South Africa.
Set For The Sky adhere by a strict code of conduct while on stage and take
professionalism very seriously.
Although not a Christian band, the majority of Set For The Sky’s music is Faith
driven.
Set For The Sky achieved 2nd place in the esteemed Western Province Aandklas
Battle of the Bands 2013

Set For The Sky is an extremely hardworking and professional band who play extensively in and
around the Cape Town area as well as the rest of the Western Cape. In 2013 alone played over
40 inter-regional concerts including 3 festivals and opening for an international act. Set For The

Biography:
Sirens and bass drops…
Set For The Sky’s story began in 2009 when a post-hardcore band was looking for a new vocalist. The
band then consisted of a photography student and a group of school kids, two being brothers (drummer
Brendon was the youngest member at this time, at the age of only 15 and guitarist Graydon).
SFTS changed their style to something that their parents wouldn't mind listening to, yet still kept little
pieces here and there of their hardcore roots, thus changing to alternative rock.
Early 2011 SFTS recorded a few tracks of which 3 became part of the 2013 Head For The Hills Tour EP.
As time passed some members became demotivated to stay committed and left until midway 2011 only
Brendon Von Gossler and James Roberts remained.
They rewrote and evolved the SFTS material, creating a bigger, augmented sound which is now available
for perusal on the self-produced Head For The Hills Tour EP released in June 2013.
The band’s line-up of musicians constantly changed with numerous auditions through 2011 and 2012.
After playing 2012/2013 Rock the River Music Festival they added two more permanent members: Trent
Richardson and J-Drake.
In February 2013, Graydon von Gossler rejoined the band’s line-up permanently.
They play extensively in the Western Cape covering most of the province. SFTS racked up 48 interregional shows by the end of 2013 since they had started performing live at the start of the
year (more than any other independent SA band).
SFTS has been described as Punk, Post Hardcore, Gross Pop and Alternative Rock. They are currently
based in Gordon's Bay/Somerset West/ Stellenbosch area and are independent and self-managed.
