Richard Gwin is the senior photographer at the Lawrence Journal World, and is a
freelance photographer based in Lawrence, Kansas. The Martins (Ken and
Arleta) and he met at a Christmas Wagon Parade in Lawrence and have gone on
an Oregon Trail Ride together. The NPEA will use these photos for educational
use. Each state division will also have their copies to use as they wish.

Peter Kwoka 61, from Berlin, Germany, an active member of the Pony Express
was on a vacation in the U.S in 1987 and saw the riders in Virginia City, Nevada,
and fell in love with the ride. "It all started watching Cowboys and Indians on
T.V. now I come back every year ", and he's been riding since 1987 and will ride
Tuesday in Nevada.

Ken Memmott 55, of Scripio, Utah, who's Great Grandfather (George
Washington Perkins) was one of the original riders for the Pony Express rode
from Ruby Valley Nevada to Simpson Springs Utah, as the 3rd day of the ride to
St. Joe stopped in Genoa, Nevada, the 1st city in Nevada.

Peter Binack, 62 of the Czech Republic flew some 6500 miles to ride for 2 miles
into the ruins of Fort Churchill south of Carson City, Nevada, on Wednesday
June 8, 2010, a passing point on the Pony Express Trail and station. Riders for
the 150th anniversary of the Pony Express carried the Mochila on the 4th day of
a three week Re–Ride from San Francisco to St. Joe.

worked their way though mountains and desert like conditions with 50 degree
temperatures. In the day and night riders were in the 40's, re-in-acting the Pony

Probably the oldest rider in this year’s 150 Anniversary Re-Ride of the Pony
Express, 2nd generation rancher Gerald Cook 91, of Ibapah, Utah, was one of
several who rode into Ibapah, Utah, as riders made the exchange from Nevada
to Utah on the 7th day of the 150th Anniversary Re-Ride of the Pony Express.

Express, a rider less horse was led into Simpson Springs, by Diane Workman 42,
of Bluffdale, Utah, to honor long time rider and her grandfather Demar Brimhall,
who would have been 95.

On June 13, 2010, the 8th day of the re-enactment of the 150th ride of the Pony
Express, a rider less horse was led in to Simpson Springs, by Diane Workman 42,
of Bluffdale, Utah, to honor long time rider and her grandfather Demar Brimhall,
who would have been 95. The Boot turned around in stirrup signifies a fallen
rider.
