GRYCHOWSKI
DOREEN JANE GRYCHOWSKI,
passed away at the St. Therese
Villa, on Thursday, October 20,
2016 at the age of 81 years.
Doreen was a sister to
Hazel and Darlene. She was a
mother to Bruce, Judith, Donna and Karen, grandma
to Nicholas, Janis, Stewart, Andrew, Kari, Cole, Dori,
Katie, Tim and Corinne and a great-grandma.
Doreen was predeceased by her husband Nick,
of 45 years, in 2000, as well as her son Gerald and
sisters Marlene and Geraldine.
Doreen was born May 16, 1935 in Kelvington,
Saskatchewan. Doreen lived a life of service. She
was a very hard working and devoted grandmother,
mother, sister and friend. She spent countless hours
volunteering with the CWL and other community
groups, making life a bit easier for others. She loved
helping her children in whatever way she could. She
doted on all of her grandchildren and would have
loved being part of her great-grandchildren’s lives.
It was unfortunate that Alzheimer’s disease took her
ability to participate in the things she so enjoyed.
Doreen made friends in all the communities that
she has lived in over the years. She loved having her
hot water at Dairy Queen in High River. She will be
very much missed.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR
LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH,
2405 - 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on
Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. with
Father Lukas Drapal celebrating.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Doreen,
donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer
Society, 317 - 10 Street South, Lethbridge, AB,
T1J 2M7 or to the Alzheimer Society, 740 - 4 Avenue
South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 0N9.

October 23, 1988 –
October 15, 2016
Adam
started
life
three weeks early on
October 23, 1988. He
spent his early childhood
growing up in the shadow
of the mountains at the
Highwood Ranger Station, where he developed his love
of the outdoors and of all creatures great and small. He
attended Longview School and moved with his family to
an acreage east of Longview. He had a number of pets
including dogs, hedge hogs, turtles, iguanas and his
beloved cat Tiger.
He played hockey with High River Minor Hockey and
also played Bantam AA with Foothills Bisons. Following
Longview School he attended Senator Riley Junior High and
Highwood High School. His love of trucks grew, with each
truck better than the truck before and all of them his pride
and joy. His music encompassed many genres, outgrowing
country to small band hard core, to his present love of
hardstyle music.
Trips to Florida with his family included Disney World,
then a graduation trip to Charlotte, NC to see his favourite
Nascar driver Matt Kenseth race, this set the seed for
his love to travel. Shortly after high school the travel bug
truly hit, and this is what defined Adam’s life. His first
adventure was to Australia with a group of friends. For
most that would have been a trip of a lifetime but for Adam
it was just the beginning.
He started work at Nabors Drilling, and also attend Olds
College graduating from Land Reclamation. He worked
hard in a tough industry so that he could live the life he
wanted, working his way up to Driller. His hard work
financed his love of travel and of music. His travels were
far and wide and included many of the countries of Europe,
Iceland, Thailand, a second trip to Australia, Nicaragua,
and Mexico. Many of these adventures would include
music festivals including Tomorrowland, Hard Island and
Defqon 1 where his generosity, humour and love of life
truly shone. He gained friendships wherever he went
and maintained these friendships upon returning home.
He touched so many lives and his love of life, travel and
adventure was infectious.
Tragically Adam left this world on October 15,
2016, a passenger in a vehicle roll over while working
in Saskatchewan.
He is much loved by his parents Ken and Laurie, his
brother Travis, step brother Chris, grandparents, aunts,
uncles, cousins and so many friends. Our world is a better
world for having Adam in it, but shines dimmer now that he
has headed to his next adventure.
A Celebration of Adam’s Life was held on
Sunday, October 23rd, Adam’s 28th birthday, at the
Foothills Centennial Centre in Okotoks, AB. It was a
time to reflect on the amazing gift Adam gave to us all
by sharing his life with us.
