Whether it’s for work or play,
Flex and Shanice Alexander
constantly invest in each
other. Fans get to watch them
reap the rewards when the
second season of OWN’s
popular reality show Flex &
Shanice returns on July 11. The
couple talks to EBONY about
the art of staying together.
What have you learned
since watching the show?
SHANICE: I’m like, “Wow, we
went through all of that, we’re
still smiling, we still have a roof
over our heads. I’m stronger
than I thought I was.”
What’s new for this season?
FLEX: It’s definitely turned up
a notch. We’re digging deeper
into a lot of things.
SHANICE: We’re excited because we have folks such as
Ne-Yo on the show. I have some
amazing people who I’m working with on my new music.
You’ll see me in the studio
writing and creating.
Unlike many stars, you’re
still married after 15 years.
How do you keep your relationship fresh and exciting?
FLEX: We don’t have a formula. We find ourselves just
trying to find a moment to
ourselves.
SHANICE: Keep it exciting.
The other day, I bought him
a card to let him know how
special he is. We flirt a lot; we
do a lot of texting.
In this issue, we’re asking
celebrities who they think
is preserving their sexy
very well as they age. Who
do you look to as models of
growing older with style?
SHANICE: Denzel Washington. He has swag!
FLEX: Denise Nicholas. Every
young kid was head over heels
for her back in the day.
