Regional Academy of Sport Chairman Welcome Message
It is with great pleasure and on behalf of all eleven Regional Academies of Sport that I welcome everyone to the 11
ClubsNSW Academy Games.
th
New South Wales is a state that loves sport and has a strong reputation for delivering world-class sporting participation
events. So we are absolutely thrilled to host the 2016 Academy games on the Central Coast again. We thank the Central
Coast Academy and this wonderful region of NSW for hosting the event, and we are determined to put on an exciting
and unforgettable show for the competitors, plus their families and supporters.
Not only has a brilliant line-up of sporting competition been planned to unite athletes and supporters but you will also
have the opportunity to see first-hand the enthusiasm and talent that the youth of regional NSW has to offer.
I would also like to take the opportunity to thank the volunteers and other non-playing attendees. You are integral to the
success of sport at all levels. Without the coaches, managers and volunteers, events such as this would not be possible.
We wish to also recognise the generous support of ClubsNSW as principal partner of these games but also the NSW
Government, Office of Sport, for their continued backing and strategic leadership in giving opportunities to regional
athletes.
Finally, on behalf of the Regional Academies of Sport, I wish you all the best for your chosen sporting events, and I trust
that we will see fair, hard fought and exciting competition in the days to come. The academy games provides a wonderful
opportunity for regional athletes to display their skills and hopefully we will many athletes progress in their chosen
sporting pathways.
Good luck and have fun!
Brett O’Farrell
RASi Chairman
Hunter Academy of Sport
CENTRAL COAST ACADEMY OF SPORT CHAIRMANS WELCOME:
On behalf of the Central Coast Academy of Sport I would like to welcome all athletes, support staff and families to the
beautiful Central Coast. This is a fantastic region, one that certainly ‘punches above our weight’ in terms of athletic
performance and endeavor. The region has many outstanding sporting facilities, some of those you will enjoy with the
hosting of the ClubsNSW Academy Games. I trust your time on the Central Coast is both rewarding and filled with great
memories from the games.
I would personally like to thank Emily Burgess-Moore (Athlete Services and Head of AG Production), Jesse Dyer
(Programs), Kelly Dean (Logistics), Stephanie Beckedahl (Media) and Ian Robilliard (MD) for their effort in delivering the
ClubsNSW Academy Games to this region.
The ClubsNSW Academy Games is logistically a difficult event to run, and I thank them, and the support they have
received from RASi delegates to again deliver a platform from which the games can grow.
Like Brett, I would like to thank our corporate sponsors and state sporting organisations, without your support the games
cannot be delivered to the high standard we enjoy.
Good luck to all competitors and I trust your experience will see you return for future sporting opportunities on the Central
Coast.
