Thinking of You
Our sympathies go out to new member, Bob Gurniak, on the loss of his mother on April 3rd. If anyone knows of a member who is hospitalized, had surgery, or lost a loved one, please notify VP Mike Cutro ([email protected], 610‐365‐8659) or one of the other Board Members. Stroudsmoor Inn Buffet
Len Feinberg (‘15)
Sun., Apr. 17 | Thirty‐four Corvettes invaded the peaceful grounds of Stroudsmoor Country Inn along with their hun‐
gry drivers and co‐pilots. After (sort‐of) arranging the cars by generation for a quick photo shoot, we all headed into the bar and ultimately to the dining room for an early dinner. The buffet was high quality and very large with appetizer bars featuring salads, shrimp cocktail, smoked trout, pickled eggs, and many more items. The entree buffets included roast beef, stuffed flounder, turkey, meatballs, tortellini pasta, pork, rice, carrots, asparagus, and even more. If anyone left hungry it was not for a lack of choices. Some came home along Route 191 for a spirited ride while others followed the 4‐lane highways for a faster trip. A good time was had by all. Thanks to Mike Cutro for arranging the event and the perfect weather. 47 Photos by

BAVTS Corvette Day
Len Feinberg (‘15)
Thu., Apr. 21 | Ten Corvettes and their drivers headed over to the Bethlehem Area Vocational Technical School for a Corvette Generations Display and Seminar. Although unaccustomed to public speaking (haha), Marty Hegyi put on a PowerPoint seminar for both the morning and afternoon student groups. Between the sessions, the school provided a very nice lunch for us in their student restaurant. Following the afternoon seminar, students from other classes — not just the auto tech classes — showed up to check out our cars. A good time was had by all. Thanks to Mike Cutro, and the staff of BAVTS for setting this up. This may be the start of a great relationship. 137 Photos by

Spring Has Sprung
Christine Bongiorno (‘05) via Facebook
Sun., May 01 | Despite the rain, we still had a bunch of Corvettes show up from various classes. AACC showed up big — bringing the majority of the ‘Vettes in the parking lot. It was still a lot of fun! Great job Laura and Marty and all the people who helped this happen again. Meeting and hearing Wil Cooksey, Jr. was great! Such a smart, funny, passionate Corvette guy (Plant Manager of the Bowling Green, KY Corvette Assembly Operations from February ‘93 to March ‘08...and with GM for much longer). He was there when Arabella was born! :‐) Anyhow, I can't say enough about Corvette people. No matter where they're from or their life story, they are some of the nicest, warmest people you'll ever meet. It's like instant family…and it becomes about more than the cars. Love my AACC family!

Springfest 2016
Len Feinberg (‘15), Kevin Minnich (‘00)
Sun., May 01 | A beautiful day in the neighborhood it was not (on the bright side, at least it was not snowing). But as they say, "The show must go on!" and it did. Despite rain, drizzle, and more rain, there was a fairly good turnout for the show, with a fair number of non‐AACC cars showing up and Jim Coffey coming down from Cicero, NY. There was a good showing of AACC Corvettes parked in the rain along with their daily drivers. With the Tricky Tray; cafeteria; free photo booth; judging; our guest speaker, Wil Cooksey; and the Corvette Doctor, there was something for everyone. DJ Brian Keith was playing music by which to judge Corvettes. A somewhat wet good time was had by all. Thanks to Laura and Marty and all their helpers for a successful show. The Hegyis headed this event at DeSales University for the past five years. Everyone in AACC is thankful for their efforts to continuously improve the event and strive to engage everyone who attends. They involved special event guests (Lance Miller, Paul Koerner, and Wil Cooksey) and incorporated an indoor (digital) presentation of the winners. Just prior to the event, it was announced during AACC’s April 27th club meeting that Joe and Denise Iervolino will take the Springfest reins starting in 2017. To ensure the continued success of AACC’s early‐season show, Joe and Denise are counting on the continued generosity of club members to keep the committees running smooth.  All set up and ready for our guests. Where is everyone?

The rain did its part to slim the number of entrants for this year’s show, but there were still plenty of beautiful Cor‐
vettes competing for the available trophies — and proving that water does not cause fiberglass to melt! Congratulations to our Guest Winners (Judged by AACC)

Thu., Jun. 02 ‐ Wed., Jun. 08 | Our 2016 club Adventure Trip will take place during June. Plans are to leave on Thurs‐
day and drive to Rocky Mount, NC for a 1 night stay, before arriving in Myrtle Beach, SC. The destination for this trip is the Myrtle Beach Corvette Club’s “Broadway at the Beach” weekend event. Following the show, AACC will drive to Charleston, SC for a 2 night stay. We turn for home on Tuesday, June 7th and stop near Richmond, VA along the return trip. Over 20 Corvettes plan to make the trip and Jeff has started distributing literature for the destination cities. Putt U Goes "Meetless"
Chair: Gary George (‘93, ‘10)
Wed., Jun. 15 | After 15 years, the club get‐together at Putt U (5200 Route 309 North, Center Valley, PA) will be "meetless" (not a meeting night). Come out and enjoy the fresh greens — new carpet was installed following the 2015 season. Our start time is 7:00 pm. Bring your ‘Vettes so everyone driving along 309 can envy you. Proceed to the check‐
in window, tell them you’re with AACC, sign the club attendance sheet, pick your foursome, and enjoy a challenging round of mini golf! As always, there is no charge for club members. Each guest must pay a $4.95 fee. Marty says, “The temperature will be 70 with a beautiful sunset.” Laura says, “Wear your name tag or receive a one stroke penalty.” Jim Fagan will be there to help out that night since I will be eating bacon on a stick at an Iron Pigs game. Winner’s Circle
Sat., Apr. 30 | 3rd Annual Memorial Car Show, Cherryville, PA — Jim Peters (People’s Choice Award). Please notify the Newsletter Editors if you win an award at a non‐club‐sanctioned event. Callaway Corvette AeroWagen
Dave Cruikshank, CorvetteOnline.com
Wed., Apr. 06 | Over the years, the term station wagon has been superseded buy [sic] the terms “shooting brake,” and “long roof” and we’re here to say, lets [sic] cut the Euro double speak and lets [sic] call this particular custom Cor‐
vette what it is, a friggin’ wagon. Custom Corvette purveyor Callaway concurs but adds a teutonic [sic] twist and has christened its custom C7 conversion “AeroWagen.” After many false starts, it looks like this C7 hatch replacement will see production. Essentially a replacement for the factory hatchback lid, Callaway’s unit is a quick and easy way to alter the look and utility of your C7 without requiring extensive body work. The package ditches the Corvette’s standard hatch and replaces it with a single‐piece, carbon fiber unit that adds addi‐
tional cargo space. Callaway’s custom hatch works with all the C7’s standard latches and weatherstripping, meaning the package can be converted back to factory original at any time. Calloway will install the hatch on any C7 model with targa capabilities retained. When was the last time you saw a targa wagon? Would you alter your C7 with this kit? 2017 Corvette Order Guide Released
Keith Cornett, CorvetteBlogger.com
Mon., Apr. 25 | Changing up how they normally release the new information on the latest Corvette, Chevrolet has published the 2017 Corvette Guide in advance of this week’s reveal of the new model year at the National Corvette Museum’s Bash event. So there will definitely be some spoiler information discussed if you want to wait. But for those that want all the latest details for the 2017 Corvette, let’s dive in! First things first. Chevrolet has only published information on the 2017 Stingray and Grand Sport Models. The 2017 Z06 information will apparently be made available at a later date. Chevrolet will start the Stingray and Grand Sport produc‐
tion in June and Z06 Corvettes will start up in early September. But with the first order window opening for the 2017 Corvette right around the corner, the 2017 Order Guide will assist dealers and buyers on what can be ordered. Chevrolet had already made the biggest news by unveiling the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport at the Geneva Motor Show in early March. The Grand Sport is the marriage of the naturally aspirated LT1 of the Stingray’s Z51 model with (Continued on page 12)

the widebody design of the Z06 body. A special limited Collector’s Edition will also be offered. The previous C6 Corvette Grand Sport replaced the base Corvette’s Z51 option and there was speculation if the Sting‐
ray Z51 model would be going away for C7 as well. The good news this time around is that that Chevrolet is keeping the Z51 Stingray model and so now there are two Stingrays, the base and Z51 and the Grand Sport models will be offered with the Z51 as the base and the Z07 Perform‐
ance Package. When you add the Coupe and Convertible body styles, that’s eight different configurations for the Sting‐
ray and Grand Sport. Since colors are a major topic of interest, we’ll go there next. Four new colors are set for the 2017 Corvette. We already told you about the return of Admiral Blue and the new Grand Sport Collector’s Edition will feature Watkins Glen Gray Metallic. The two other new Corvette colors are Sterling Blue Metallic and what appears to be the return of purple to the color palette with Black Rose Metallic. Chevrolet will still be offering a full compliment [sic] of graphic packages for the Stingray and Grand Sport. A Satin Black hood stinger is listed a [sic] new for 2017 but the interesting colors are the Grand Sport’s Hash Marks. They will avail‐
able in seven different colors: Tension Blue, Hyper Green, Yellow, Volcano Orange, Torch Red, Gray and Carbon Flash Metallic. Returning in 2017 are the same three design packages that were available on the 2016 Corvette. Spice Red, Black Suede and Twilight Blue all come back and are now offered on both the Stingray and Grand Sport Models. As far as changes to the interior, we only see one new option coming and one going. Coming is the ability to change the seat belt colors to Red in addition to the standard black. Going away will be the Brownstone interior color. Pursuing [sic] the wheels sections and it looks like all the 2016 wheels will carry over to the 2017 Corvette models. So to sum it up, the Grand Sport is the major attraction in 2017 Corvette and with four new colors available including some wild hash mark stripes for the Grand Sport. 2017 Grand Sport is a Grand Deal
Alexander Stoklosa, CarAndDriver.com
Fri., Apr. 29 | Maybe you dig Chevrolet’s Corvette Z06, but can’t swing its $80,395 base price? Can you live without its supercharger and extra 195 horsepower over a stock Corvette Stingray? Then the $66,445 2017 Corvette Grand Sport coupe is for you, at a $13,950 savings, at least relative to the 2016 Z06 coupe. The Grand Sport, for those not in the know, is a Corvette with essentially all of the Z06 model’s suspension, braking, (Continued on page 13)

body, and tire upgrades, but with the regular Stingray’s naturally aspirated, 460‐hp 6.2‐liter V‐8. Chevrolet claims that on its standard Michelin tires, the Grand Sport can pull over 1.0 g on a skidpad, while the optional Z07 package’s stick‐
ier rubber could strain your soft bits with 1.2 g. Oh, and if you’d like to probe the Grand Sport’s epic handling envelope while getting a tan, the middle‐child Vette also comes in convertible form. For that, you’ll need to pony up $70,445, but we’d stick with the coupe. After all, the Grand Sport is bound to be a formidable track‐day car, and the coupe offers maximum body stiffness. Beyond picking between the coupe and the convertible, Chevrolet is offering customers a litany of choices when it comes to colors and graphics packages, as well as a seven‐speed manual transmission or an eight‐speed automatic. There are 10 paint colors, and an optional “Heritage package” brings classic Grand Sport fender hash marks (take your pick from six colors). Or perhaps full‐length body stripes are more your thing? Chevy is offering those in five different colors. There are also five wheel designs, a carbon‐fiber body kit, and the extra‐high‐performance Z07 package that adds Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, carbon‐ceramic brakes, and functional carbon‐fiber aero pieces. Corvette Racing Misses First Podium
Chris Demorro, CorvetteOnline.com
Mon., May 02 | Through the first three races of the IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Championship, Corvette Racing has been a dominant force, taking two checkered flags and one second‐place finish. Unfortunately, that streak came to an end this weekend at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the GT side of Corvette racing as No. 3 and No.4 cars fin‐
ishing fourth and seventh, respectively. However, the pair of Corvette Daytona Prototype racers did finish in the top three, making the weekend a mixed bag for GM fans, to say the least. Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen managed to take the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R to a fourth place finish despite a late‐race refueling. Garcia had been in second place before the pitting on the final lap, having come up short of run‐
ning just a single pit stop during the race. Still, it was the pair’s best result since finishing second to open the season in the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin, meanwhile, had been running in fifth place with 42 minutes left to race, but Gavin spun the tires while the Corvette was still in the air as a result, he dropped back to tenth place. Gavin managed to make up three of those spots and finished seventh in class. On the Corvette DP side, however, Marc Goossens and Ryan Dalziel of the No. 90 Corvette placed second despite start‐
ing from pitlane and serving an opening‐lap penalty for not completing the pre‐race formation laps. Eric Curran and Dane Cameron were third in No. 31 Whelen Engineering/Team Fox Corvette DP. That was enough to move them into the Prototype Driver’s Championship lead. Despite their seventh place finish in the GTLM class, Milner and Gavin still sit in first place in the driver’s standings. Special thanks goes out to the Myrtle Beach Corvette Club and NCM Fighter Squadron who have stepped up to participate.
