More than seventy representatives from thirty-eight State
agencies and local community-based organizations came
together on Sunday, September
7 in appreciation of Ventura
County farmworkers and their
families during the 9th Annual
Farmworker Fair – Feria Campesina. The fair took place from
12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the
West Oxnard Job & Career
Center, located at 635 South
Ventura Road.
During the Feria Campesina,
participants had access to information on farmworker health
and safety issues, labor law
enforcement, wages, housing,
transportation and other community services. Representatives of the Employment Development Department, Ventura County Human Services
Agency, California Highway
Patrol, Center for Employment Training, Department
of Rehabilitation, California
Department of Pesticide Regulation, amongst other agencies, were present to provide
information and answer questions regarding services they
provide to the farmworker
community. Approximately
650 to 700 people attended

food for farmworkers and
their families, gifts, and activities for children including arts, crafts and games.

Several local employers,

sponsored free food, music,
and live entertainment as appreciation for the hard work
of farmworkers in Ventura
County over the years. Many

provided aid as a Diamond
Sponsor ($ 1000 +), Gold
Sponsor ($ 500 - $ 1000) and
Silver Sponsor (under $ 500).
new standards are upheld in many
areas of the country; they hold
the future of our children in their
hands.
5. Inaction on immigration
reform is devastating Latino communities.
Congressional inaction on reform, combined with record-setting deportations, has torn apart
millions of families and devastated
the social fabric of American communities. Strong Latino participation in 2014 elections is needed to
ensure that Congress finishes the
job of enacting comprehensive
immigration reform, or that the
president takes executive action to
provide relief to our communities.
To change our community and
the country for the better, vote this
November.

on electing state leaders committed to the health of the Hispanic
community.
2. Latino workers need a raise.
Forty-three percent of Latino
workers earn poverty-level wages.
The current minimum wage of
$7.25 per hour is not enough to
keep a single parent with one child
out of poverty. Congress has introduced-but has not yet passed-legislation to raise the minimum wage
to $10.10, which would make it
easier for approximately 6.8 million Latinos, nearly one-quarter
of the Hispanic workforce, to take
care of their families. Dozens of
states are also considering increasing their own minimum wages.
3. Hardworking Hispanic families deserve a chance to own their
own homes.
While 65% of all Americans are
homeowners, fewer than 46% of
Hispanics own their own homes.
Members of Congress have been
debating changes to housing
finance laws that could make
it easier (or more difficult) for
Latinos to get mortgages.
4. Latino students deserve better schools.
Hispanic students are more
likely than others to attend
schools with fewer resources,
less experienced teachers, and
lower academic standards. Dozens of states have adopted policies requiring that all students
be taught to the same rigorous
standards and that schools are
held accountable for ensuring

scholarships to both Ventura High
School and Santa to the Sea Half
Marathon as well as $5,000 to El
Centrito Family Learning Center.
“It’s important to the Foundation
to aid the community where Haas
Automations employees live. These
grants support organizations that
make a positive impact in the region
as well as encourage the education
of its youth, said Kathy Looman,
foundation administrator. “Our main
focus is to support human service
organizations that enhance the quality of life of the community’s most
vulnerable individuals, families and
veterans, and we support manufacturing education, particularly by
providing scholarships.”
About the Gene Haas Foundation
Founded by Haas in 1999, the
Gene Haas Foundation has awarded more than 22 million dollars to
deserving charities and educational
institutions. The Foundation was
formed to fund the needs of the
local community and to support
manufacturing education. The foundation provides scholarship funds to
community colleges and vocational
schools for students entering technical training programs, especially machinist-based certificate and degree
programs as well as supports youth
programs that inspire young people
to consider manufacturing careers.
Additionally just this year the Gene
Haas Foundation has leveraged over
1.5 million dollars in grants for Veteran's training. For more information,

La adopción de adultos puede
traer importantes beneficios
pagar impuestos, a quien habían
relación;
• El grado de parentesco, si
existe alguno;
• La razón por la que se desea
la adopción;
del público;
• Los nombres y direcciones
de cualquier padre biológico con
vida o hijos adultos del adulto
adoptado.
La adopción legal extingue las
responsabilidades de los padres
biológicos, excepto cuando el
menor es adoptado por el cónyuge
del padre o madre biológico. En
tal caso esas responsabilidades no

bierno federal, estatal y municipal
abucheó e insultó a Cuauhtémoc

no hispanos.

condiciones diferentes:
• Nerviosismo e irritabilidad.
• Palpitaciones.
• Presión sanguínea alta.
• Aumento de la sudoración.
• Piel delgada.
• Cabello fino y quebradizo.
• Ritmo menstrual irregular.
• Debilidad muscular.
• Manos temblorosas.
• Pérdida de peso.
• Aumento de las evacuaciones.
• Dificultad para dormir.
• Sensibilidad de los ojos a la
luz.
• Mirada fija.
• Confusión.
Tipos de hipertiroidismo
a) Bocio difuso tóxico: También
o ronca.
• Cara hinchada y abultada, con
cejas poco pobladas especialmente
hormonal. Es posible que con el
transcurso de los años, al paciente
le sea necesario aumentar la dosis;
