QUADEX LINING SYSTEM (QLS)
Featuring GeoKrete Geopolymer
QLS is an advanced pipe and tunnel structural restoration
system featuring latest in high performance application
technology and materials. QLS features the most technologically
advanced Mobile Application Unit that gets the job done faster.
QLS materials include GeoKrete geopolymer, a breakthrough
material offering industry leading corrosion resistance and
quick return-to-service.
Easy to mix and apply, QLS GeoKrete fully restores and renews
existing pipe and other sewer infrastructure.
What Exactly is a Geopolymer?
The chemical make-up of GeoKrete makes it inherently
acid resistant to the MIC biomechanism found in sewer
environments. Geopolymers contain greatly reduced
concentrations of Ca (OH)2 (calcium hydroxide), which is
essentially the acid corrosion mechanism found in many
typical cements. In addition to the base geopolymer chemistry,
GeoKrete includes an added layer of chemical protection
from the application of a post coat treatment that creates an
additional glass-like, chemically resistant surface containing a
proven bactericide.
Physical Characteristics
> Not a plastic
> Not HDPE / PVC / Epoxy
> Looks and feels like cement
> Superior workability
> Chemical structure like natural stone
>Monolithic
>Durable
> Superior corrosion resistance vs. calcium aluminate and
antimicrobial cements
Additional Features & Benefits
> QUADEX GeoKrete delivers exceptional physical properties and bond strengths… over 200% more than
typical cementitious liners.
> Typical cementitious based repair mortars break at 1,500 psi bond strength via ASTM C 882 along the
slant shear
> Quality controlled one-component blend for uniform results
> High early and ultimate compressive, flexural and bond strengths. Very low permeability
> Resistant to acid attack in wastewater streams with pH as lowas 1.0 and temperature as high as 77°C for
industrial effluent
> Aluminosilicate polymer Si-O-Al bonds
> Over 80% recycled material (Binder is apx. 83% recycled, aggreagate is 60% quartz = 50% combined,
but OK to take liberty here and talk only of binder)
> A fraction of the CO2 emissions (Carbon footprint < 10% of Portland or calcium aluminate cements)
> Not caustic, just add water
> Poly-condensation not hydration
>Self-adhesion
> Excellent chemical and thermal resistance for industrial applications
Applications
> Structural rehabilitation of large diameter pipe (36” and larger)
> Includes sanitary sewer and storm pipe consisting of: concrete, brick, metal or masonry construction
> Especially useful where microbiologically induced corrosion (H2S) is a problem
Most Popular Uses
> Pipe rehabilitation
> Storm sewer / culverts, sanitary sewer
> Tunnels and bridges
> Commercial / Industrial
> Manholes, wet wells, junction boxes
Environmental Benefits
> GeoKrete is sustainable and enjoys a low carbon footprint and is comprised mostly of recycled materials
> Significant reduction in harmful greenhouse gases typically created in the production of Portland or
calcium aluminate based products
Added Protection System
Sealing Protecting System (SPS)
> The QUADEX SPS coating is a silicon based, water resistant coating with built-in, non-leaching antimicrobial
properties
> EPA registered (Reg. No. 83019-1) agent that is bacteriostatic, fungistatic, and algistatic
> Additional compounds form hydrated crystals which cross link with the alumino-silicate geopolymers in
GeoKrete further increasing acid resistance
