Jean’s House
at Agios Gergios
The tranquil village of Agios Gergios lies in
the heart of the Commandaria region of
Cyprus. The mountains are spectacular, the
roads are deserted, and nature abounds. A
short drive in any direction leads to charming
villages with traditional tavernas, coffee
shops, and local wine and lace on display.
Near the old church of Agios Gergios,
festooned in bougainvillea, is Jean’s House.
Heavy wooden doors lead into a cool
courtyard shaded by vines, wisteria and roses.
From the courtyard enter the pretty country
kitchen and diner, where in winter a big log
fire warms the house. The kitchen is well
equipped for modern culinary and laundry
needs. A basket of fresh bread, homemade
preserve and local fruit awaits our guests.
The spacious ensuite bedroom has a king size
bed, romantic furnishings and soft carpets
underfoot. The bathroom is tasteful and well
appointed.
Jasmine flowers scent the stone stairway
leading up to the relaxing sun terrace and the
living room, which is spacious and bright, has
wonderful mountain views.
A short stroll leads to the village coffee shop
and to The Magic Teapot cafe, serving up
lovely homemade food, local entertainment,
and the internet!
Jean’s House is an ideal home for two guests
but will accommodate children and companion
dogs. We highly recommend it as a tranquil
and comfortable base from which to explore
the mountains and to experience the authentic
Cyprus!
Rental is €60 per night for the property
inclusive of service charges. Linen/towels
provided. Kitchen stocked with tea/coffee etc
and welcome basket of fresh goods.
