Bright Rod Run keeps getting better
It is fair to say there was a degree of uncertainty amongst rodders attending the Bright
Rod Run as it had been well broadcast beforehand that the Police would be attending
in considerable numbers. Many were fearful that they would target the street rods and
spoil the fantastic family atmosphere that has surrounded this event for many years.
They needn’t have worried. While the Police presence was very noticeable, they
concentated on the disruptive element who sometimes like to attach themselves to such
events and cause mayhem. Anyone fitting that category was soon given the message and the
event went ahead in an improved atmosphere as entrants could enjoy themselves without
looking over their shoulder to see if some idiot was going to spoil it for them. Drink driving
was also targetted and thankfully, even though over 1200 breath tests were conducted, not
one was found to be over the limit. That left the weekend free to enjoy for everybody,
and enjoy it they did, with over 800 street rods and customs rolling through
registration. Perfect weather made it even better as thousands came to Bright to
participate and to inspect the fantastic turn out of cars. Roll on Bright 2011.

above right: Two tone ’37 Ford coupe turned a few heads over the weekend with its
classic looks and easy on the eyes paintwork.
right: The simple theme of this satin black ’51 Ford pickup with lots of neat pinstriping
make it very appealing, as do the chrome wheels and whitewalls.
above: Perfect weather ensured the wide variety of vehicles
shone brilliantly on the Pioneer Park oval. One particular
standout was Wayne Zweck’s wildly flamed ’36 Ford coupe,
seen here alongside Wadington’s ’34 roadster ute, which was
entered by Tex and Patricia Smith.

Gennimatas’ three window Deuce coupe. The interior features
red leather while the rolling stock is from Billet Specialties.

pickup. The orange Ford also
features small block Chevy
running gear and Dragway wheels,

satin black paint highlighted with
red and white touches. David
Werkmuller’s Model A roadster
pickup certainly looks the goods
and probably goes pretty well too
with that Ford V8.

Custom Club member Russell Osment. The ’28 Chevy roadster ute sports a tricarb’d small block and lift-off timber roof with chequer plate lining the rear.

the engine bay of this Model A roadster. The
interior matches the paint too.

Small block Ford running gear and black upholstery are
just a couple of its many fine features.

allowed for good times aplenty.
