Dine LBC Restaurant Week Offers Prix Fixe Values
By Emily Thornton
Staff Writer
It’s time to eat up in Long Beach.
Dine LBC includes more than
70 restaurants in 13 neighborhoods, featuring value-oriented
three-course meals, from April 23
to May 1.
Participating restaurants will
offer three-course meals priced
from $20 to $50 — either per
person, with wine options at fine
dining businesses — or dinner for
two, with diners sharing an appetizer, eating their own entrée and
sharing a dessert.
“It’s a value-oriented meal at
that price,” organizer Terri Henry
said. “It gives restaurants the opportunity to try new things. There
are benefits for both the diners
and the restaurants in these opportunities.”
Restaurants vary in their offerings. For instance, L’Opera
Ristorante will have a $50 Italian
dinner, with a choice of three ap-
petizers, three entrees and three
desserts. Simmzy’s Pub will have
a $30 dinner, with choice of three
appetizers, three entrees and two
desserts. And Brix at the Shore
will offer a $20 meal, with a
choice of a beer, wine or dessert,
as well as a choice of three appetizers and two entrée sandwiches.
L’Opera general manager Nicole Lira said they’ve been part

2014.
“I think it was a good thing for
Long Beach to get recognized,”
Lira said. “And with all of the advertising and marketing they do,
they’re really on top of it.”
Last year, Lira said L’Opera
had a handful more diners because of the event and is hoping
for a larger crowd this year.
But, she said hers could be a bit
pricey for some.
“We are among the higher-end
restaurants,” Lira said. “But, our
(Dine LBC) menu would never
normally be marked down to $50,
with tax, gratuity and for two.”
Henry said the event is meant
to attract local foodies and allow
those who view dining out as a
luxury to have a more affordable
experience.
“Anything we can do to drive
people into our valued restaurants
is a good thing,” Henry said.
Dine LBC grub runs the gamut
from American to Argentine, Irish
to Korean and Caribbean to Italian, Gastropubs and everything in
between.
However, some of the cuisines
are not represented, Henry said,
including Cambodian and Thai.
“We’d like to have Cambodia
Town more involved,” Henry said.
Neighborhoods included in
Dine LBC are Belmont Shore,
Bixby Knolls/California Heights,
Broadway Corridor, Downtown/
Pine Avenue, Downtown Waterfront, East Anaheim Street,
East Village, Long Beach Towne
Center, Los Altos, Naples/Alamitos Bay, Pacific Coast Highway
Corridor, Retro Row and Traffic
Circle.
