Dear Veterans Cup Players and Guests,
Welcome to Escondido for the 2013 USASA Veterans Cup.
We are pleased to be able to host this tournament for the second year in a row, and we hope to build on
last year’s successes. This incredible event has a long and rich tradition and Cal South hopes that this
year’s tournament will create new memories to add on to the wonderful history of the Veterans Cup.
In addition to enjoying the great soccer competition, we hope that you will take advantage of the local
weather, beaches, theme parks, restaurants, wineries, micro-breweries, casinos and historic sites. San
Diego County is truly a great place to add memorable experiences for your team, friends and family while
attending the Veteran’s Cup.

About the Venue
The 2013 Veterans Cup will be be played at Frances Ryan Park in Escondido:

Please do not bring alcoholic beverages to Frances Ryan Park. Beer is only permitted within the official Veterans
Cup Beer Garden. Do not jeopardize the cancellation of our field permit. You must also be a minimum 21 years old
to enter the beer garden - No exceptions.
Team Registration
All teams must come to the Hilton Garden Inn San Diego/Rancho Bernardo (17240 Bernardo Center Drive, San Diego)
Monday, June 24 between 5:00PM - 8:00PM or Tuesday, June 25, between 10:30AM - 4:30PM to register for the
tournament prior to the opening ceremonies .
Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 25 from 5:30PM - 6:30PM at at Frances Ryan Park . Please arrive
by 5:00PM to line up for the parade of teams . We will take a group picture with all teams/players after the ceremony .
Managers/Coaches Meeting
A managers meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 25, directly after the opening ceremonies at the Veterans Cup
Beer Garden Tent .
Event Parking
Staff will be on site coordinating traffic and monitoring parking . Please follow the instructions provided by our parking
volunteers so we can best maximize all available parking spaces . Teams are encouraged to carpool to and from the
games to maximizing parking opportunities .
Lost and Found
The Lost and Found is located at the tournament HQ tent . Please drop off or pick up lost items with a committee member .
Merchandise
Please purchase official Veterans Cup merchandise at the vendor tent as it supports local Escondido soccer programs .

The majority of participating teams will be flying in and out of San Diego International Airport (SAN) . You can visit

Heat Guidelines and Forcasts
The average high temperature in North County San Diego for the month of June is 82 degrees . The average low is 59
degrees . It is going to be hot, so please prepare accordingly! Please take precaution by staying hydrated before, during,
and after your games . Water will be provided for the teams at the facilities; however we strongly encourage the teams
to bring additional water and other drinks with electrolytes to keep your bodies hydrated . Please also remember to
hydrate 24 hours prior to your scheduled game . In the event you or one of your teammates suffers from heat exhaustion,
emergency personnel will be notified immediately .
