MAY 2010 - Charlotte Motor Speedway
MAY 2010
WELCOME FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Valued Race Fans,
We’re excited that you’ve decided to join us at the ultimate race
vacation destination for NASCAR fans, Charlotte Motor Speedway,
this May for our exciting back-to-back weekends of NASCAR Sprint
Cup Series action.
We’ll host a great Backyard Brawl as NASCAR’s stars battle it out
for bragging rights and a shot at a $1 million pay day in the NASCAR
Sprint All-Star Race. Sparks will fly as competitors beat and bang
under the lights of the 1.5-mile superspeedway.
The following week we’ll Let Freedom Race as we honor our Armed
Forces with the Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day weekend. Help
us salute the many generations of soldiers who’ve protected our
great nation during our moving pre-race show. Then enjoy a test of
endurance as the green flag waves on 43 of the best racers in the
world competing in the legendary 600-mile race.
In addition to the exciting NASCAR Sprint Cup Series action, drivers
from the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR
Nationwide Series will take to the speedway during our two
weekends of racing. You can also check out some of the best dirtracing drivers in the world at The Dirt Track @ Charlotte for the World
of Outlaws Sprint Car Showdown.
While you’re in town, enjoy some of the area amenities that help
make Charlotte Motor Speedway an incredible destination for
NASCAR fans and visit your favorite team’s shop. More than 90
percent of the NASCAR teams are located within a short driving
distance of the speedway and a number of the teams host fan events
around our May race weeks.
You can also round out your NASCAR experience with a trip to the
new NASCAR Hall of Fame, scheduled to open on May 11. There
are a lot of exciting events planned around the grand opening and it
offers something for every fan.
We appreciate your continued support and please let us know if we
can do anything to make your next visit more enjoyable.
Sincerely,
Marcus Smith, President and General Manager

The Department of Transportation will counter flow traffic on the roads
surrounding the speedway (Highway 29, Morehead Road, Bruton Smith
Boulevard, etc) to facilitate a faster and more efficient traffic flow (traveling
to and leaving the speedway). Additional lanes will be dedicated in the
direction needed, or all lands will be converted to one way in the direction
needed as traffic dictates. US Highway 29 (front of speedway) will be
counter flowed to 3 lanes in one direction and 1 lane in the lesser direction
both before and after the race. Bruton Smith Blvd., from I-85 to US
Highway 29, will be counter flowed to 3 lanes in one direction and 1 lane
in the lesser direction both before and after the race. Morehead Road, from
Harrisburg to Entrance P on speedway property, will be counter flowed to
all lanes in one direction both before and after the race. Morehead Road
west, from US Highway 29 to Mallard Creek Road/Mallard Creek Church

dRiVing diREcTions
Traveling from the North and South, the
most direct route to Charlotte Motor
Speedway from Interstate 85 is North
Carolina Exit 49. Bruton Smith Boulevard
will take you directly to the Speedway.
HOWEVER, this route tends to become
extremely congested during race weekends and other routes to Charlotte Motor
Speedway are advised.
From the North, guests may take North
Carolina Exit 52 off I-85 and turn left
on Poplar Tent Road. At the first traffic
light, turn right on Pitts School Road.
Continue on this route until the stoplight
at U.S. Highway 29. Turn right on Hwy
29 and proceed approximately 2.4 miles
to Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Traveling from the South, take Interstate
I-485 North Carolina Exit 32, Highway
29/North Tryon Street. Turn right on
Hwy 29/North Tryon St and proceed
approximately 3 miles to Charlotte Motor
Speedway.
