exhausts. 30 years ago, the best rock & roll
was the loudest rock & roll. Over time, we
have come to realize that you can still make
great music without cracking the plaster. The
same is true with exhausts. The tone and
quality of the exhaust sound is far more
important than how loud it is and this is the
fundamental driver behind the products we
develop. Sound Quality. Anybody can play it
loud, but it takes a talented musician to turn
down the amp and still capture an audience.
Another one of our goals is to help you make
educated decisions. In the past, people chose
an exhaust system primarily on appearance.
While this is still a very important factor, buyers need to look more than “skin deep” and

02 / Tunable Disc Technology
How They Work
The tunable disc design was developed 30 years ago by an avid dirt bike rider and aeronauti-
from the high pressure inside of the exhaust to the low pressure outside. The low pressure
helps pull the exhaust gases out of the motor which in turn allows more fresh air and fuel to
enter the motor on the next stroke. This is what is meant by a scavenging effect. More
exhaust out. More fresh air and fuel in. More torque and horsepower out!

How to Use Them
Think of each disc as a hole in the exhaust. Using more discs increases the exhaust area,
increases peak horsepower and increases sound output. Using fewer discs reduces the
exhaust area, improves low end torque and reduces sound output. Each of our exhaust systems comes with a recommendation of the number of discs to use but with some simple
experimenting, you can find the sweet spot or optimum balance between peak horsepower
and peak torque. They also let your exhaust system grow with future performance enhancements to your motor.

Sound Level Guide
Sound is a very popular topic these days. It really needs to be broken down into two categories. Sound quality and sound volume. All of or exhaust systems are designed to produce a quality sound. Our non-tunable
products have a deep, rich, throaty sound while our tunable products have a low tone and a distinctive sound.
The sound volume is dependent on the flow characteristics of the exhaust and on your use of the volume
control in your right hand, better know as the throttle. The sound icons throughout this catalog are there to
show you the differences between the sounds of our products.
tubes and chambers are used to make the exhaust travel a longer distance inside the canister and to reduce its velocity. Slowing down the exhaust stream allows it to remain in conNON-TUNABLE
tact with the packing materials longer. These materials absorb the higher frequency sound
waves. The sound quality can also be altered by changes in baffle configuration. As the
sound waves travel through the exhaust canister, they can be bounced off of surfaces and
reflected back against themselves to alter the frequencies or tone of the sound.
How to Use Them
All non-tunable exhausts have fixed performance characteristics. They have been designed
to perform optimally under a very specific set of conditions and you do not have the ability
to make changes to the exhaust itself. In most cases you will be required to make jetting or
fuel map changes to your motor in order to use these products. The installation instructions included with each product will tell you what changes need to be made to your motor.
Non-tunable exhausts are popular because they have a lower initial cost and appear to be
easier to install but in the long run, they limit your ability to make future performance
enhancements.
