Baljit Kaur, the HR Manager at Sikh
Channel has been working closely with the
International department at Bourneville
College to create opportunities for students
to visit the Sikh Channel. This initiative is
aimed to create awareness of the Sikh Faith
amongst International students.
The first of these students namely Haram
Kim, Yun Jeong Hyeon, Min Jae Lee and Jong
Rok Ha were visiting from South Korea. They
were accompanied by Simona Milazzo who
herself is from South Italy and is working
within the International department at
Bourneville College.
The students were given a tour of the studio
and were provided with an opportunity to
view a live show that was in progress at the
time. Baljit Kaur was surprised to learn that
the students were not familiar with the Sikh
religion and had never met a Sikh prior to
this visit. The students were educated on the
values and principles of the Sikh faith and
showed particular interest in the Dastaar and
the principle of uncut hair.

Hard Hitting Sikh
Ethics Special Shows
on Grooming
Sikh Channel has been working with the Sikh
Awareness Society to help raise awareness
on the disturbing but very real issue of
grooming. Bhai Mohan Singh from the Sikh
Awareness Society has been at the forefront,
trying to tackle this issue for many years. The
BBC interest in the Sikh Ethics show, led to
Bhai Mohan Singh liaising closely with BBC
producers for the past year on the issue of
grooming. His persistence and perseverance
resulted in the creation of an Inside Out
documentary aired by the BBC on the 2nd
September 2013.
Bhai Mohan Singh and the Sikh Awareness
Society team, travel the country to give
public talks about the issue of grooming. His
organisation runs a helpline and is actively
involved in tackling these issues. For further
