6/24 - Golden Nugget - MARY WILSON OF THE SUPREMES:
Mary Wilson is an American vocalist, best known as a founding member of the
Supremes. Wilson remained with the group following the departures of other
original members, Florence Ballard in 1967 and Diana Ross in 1970. Following
Wilson’s own departure in 1977, the group disbanded. Wilson has since released
three solo albums, five singles and two best selling autobiographies, Dreamgirl:
My Life As a Supreme, a record setter for sales in its genre and Supreme Faith:
Someday We’ll Be Together, both books later released as an updated combination.
Continuing a successful career as a concert performer, Wilson also became a
musicians’ rights activist as well as a musical theater performer and organizer of
various museum displays of the Supremes’ famed costumes. Wilson was inducted
along with Ross and Ballard (as members of the Supremes) into the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
6/24 - Caesars - Smokey Robinson: Smokey Robinson is an American
singer-songwriter, record producer, and former record executive. Robinson was
the founder and front man of the Motown vocal group the Miracles, for which
he also served as the group’s chief songwriter and producer. Robinson led the
group from its 1955 origins as the Five Chimes until 1972 when he announced
a retirement from the group to focus on his role as Motown’s vice president.
However, Robinson returned to the music industry as a solo artist the following
year, later scoring Top 10 solo hits such as “Cruisin’” (1979), “Being With You”
(1981) and “Just to See Her” (1987). Following the sale of Motown Records in
1988, Robinson left the company in 1990. He was inducted into the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
6/25 - Resorts - Blood Sweat & Teas with Bo Bice: “Like a

2005 found BS&T looking back to founding father Bobby Colomby’s original vision
for Blood Sweat & Tears quite simple “Find the greatest musicians and the rest

themselves as one of the hottest touring acts in the world. Whether playing the

Korean Government named Blood Sweat & Tears “The Ambasadors of Peace”

nominated cd “He Had A Hat”. 2010 saw yet another recording session with Jeff
Lorber. A world tour interrupted by a Icelandic Volcano. The band buys a Tour Bus
to play smaller and up close venues along with the big concert venues. 2011 BS&T
played 3 sold out concerts at the world famous Blue Note Jazz Club in New Your
City with the Legendary trumpeter Arturo Sandoval. BS&T and Sandoval will be
playing more concerts in the future. The most recorded Drummer in the world
Bernard “Pretty” Perdue sat in with BS&T on a resent show in New Jersey. Look
for former BS&T members to get up on stage from time to time.
7/9 - Harrah’s - Arsenio Hall: Arsenio Hall made his superstar debut
with the premiere of his TV show “The Arsenio Hall Show” and virtually overnight
changed the face of late night television. He provided a forum for cutting edge
comedy, politics and the television debut of such pop superstars as Mariah Carey,
Snoop Dogg, Boyz II Men and countless others. After resigning from his outstanding
TV run, Arsenio went on to star in other TV drama shows and perform standup
across the globe. Catch him live at The Concert Venue, July 9!

of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and Songwriters Hall of Fame.
7/15 - Boardwalk Hall - Justin Bieber: Justin Bieber is a
Canadian singer and songwriter. After a talent manager discovered him
through his YouTube videos covering songs in 2007 and signed to RBMG,
Bieber released his debut EP, My World, in late 2009. It was certified platinum
in the U.S. He became the first artist to have seven songs from a debut record
chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Bieber released his first full-length studio
album, My World 2.0, in 2010. It debuted at or near number one in several
countries and was certified triple platinum in the U.S. It was preceded by his
most successful single to date, “Baby”. He released his second studio album,
Under the Mistletoe, in November 2011, when it debuted at number one on
the Billboard 200. Bieber released his third studio album, Believe, in 2012. His
fourth studio album Purpose was released in November 2015. His sales were
estimated at 100 million records, making him one of the world’s best-selling
music artists.He was listed three times
by Forbes magazine among the top ten
most powerful celebrities in the world
in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Bieber also
became the first artist to crack 10 billion total video views on Vevo.
7/22 - Borgata - The Killers:
The Killers is an American rock band
formed in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2001,
by Brandon Flowers (lead vocals,
keyboards) and Dave Keuning (guitar,
backing vocals). Mark Stoermer (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Ronnie
Vannucci Jr. (drums, percussion) would complete the current line-up of the
band in 2002. The name The Killers is derived from a logo on the bass drum
of a fictitious band, portrayed in the music video for the New Order song
“Crystal”. The group has released four chart topping studio albums: Hot
Fuss (2004), Sam’s Town (2006), Day & Age (2008) and Battle Born (2012).
They have also released a B-sides and rarities compilation, Sawdust (2007);
a live album, Live from the Royal Albert Hall (2009); and a greatest hits album
Direct Hits (2013). The Killers are seen as one of the biggest rock bands of
the 21st century, and the most successful rock act to ever emerge from the
state of Nevada, having sold an estimated 22 million albums worldwide. They
have achieved worldwide success as a live band, performing in over fifty
countries and on six continents, headlining venues such as Madison Square
Garden and Wembley Stadium.
7/23 - Tropicana - Boyz II Men: Boyz II Men is an American R&B
vocal group, best known for emotional ballads and a cappella harmonies.
Formerly a quartet including bass Michael McCary, they are currently a trio
composed of baritone Nathan Morris alongside tenors Wanya Morris and
Shawn Stockman. During the 1990s, Boyz II Men found fame on Motown
Records as a quartet. McCary absent without official leave left the group in
2003 due to health issues and contractual agreements. During the 1990s,
Boyz II Men gained international success. This began with the release of
the number one single “End of the Road” in 1992, which reached the top of
charts worldwide. “End of the Road” would set a new record for longevity,
staying at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for thirteen weeks, breaking the decades-old record held by Elvis Presley. Boyz II Men proceeded to
break this record with the subsequent releases of “I’ll Make Love to You” and
“One Sweet Day” (with Mariah Carey), which, at fourteen and sixteen weeks
respectively, each set new records for the total number of weeks at number
one. Consequently, Boyz II Men are top ranking members with regard to time
spent at number one in Billboard history, ranking in the fourth spot with 50
weeks (as of 2014). Boyz II Men continue to perform worldwide, as a trio.
Their most recent studio album, Collide, was released in 2014.
7/10 - Borgata - Bob Dylan: Bob Dylan is an American singer-songwriter,
artist and writer. He has been influential in popular music and culture for more
than five decades. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s when
his songs chronicled social unrest, although Dylan repudiated suggestions from
journalists that he was a spokesman for his generation. Nevertheless, early songs
such as “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “The Times They Are a-Changin’” became
anthems for the American civil rights and anti-war movements. After he left his
initial base in the American folk music revival, his six-minute single “Like a Rolling
Stone” altered the range of popular music in 1965. His mid-1960s recordings,
backed by rock musicians, reached the top end of the United States music charts
while also attracting denunciation and criticism from others in the folk movement.
As a musician, Dylan has sold more than 100 million records, making him one of
the best-selling artists of all time. He has also received numerous awards including
eleven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award. Dylan

If you enjoy dancing or just listening to great music, then have I got
an event for you! Elizabeth Gorman, one of our longtime readers,
who enjoys this column, advises us about a note-worthy event. The
Single Parent Society Shore Chapter presents a noteworthy weekly
Dance Social each Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. til 10 p.m. at the Social Hall
of the Somers Point Fire Co. # 1 located on Bethel Road in Somers
Point for over 30 years. A different musical entertainer or musical
group performs each week.
On June 14, 2016 enjou thje music of Tony DeLuca at the keyboard.
On June 21, 2016, it's a Father's Day Dance Social with musical duo
star Singer/Guitarist Johnny Tocco. The group celebrates Independence Day at their July 5, 2016 Dance Social. Hot dogs will be
served. Enjoy the sensational music of "The Sensations." On July
12, 2016, enjoy the music of Tony DeLuca at the keyboard.
The cost of each event is $8 for members and $10 for non-members. The event is open to all ages. The public is encouranged to

FISHING REPORT
Albert Thatcher, Ron Mastriania, and Frank Boninu of Lancaster
County, Pa. fish Margate regularly and one can see why. The
largest flounder was four and a half pounds and won them a
$100 gift certificate to the dock
People will always fish! That opening line is required a
couple of times each summer season based on the type of conditions we experienced this past week. Let's see, torrential rain,
sixty-nine mile per hour winds and fifty-two degree water temps.
Undaunted, anglers charged out into the bay to target flounder and
blues at their best and were rewarded for their tenacity.
Frank Boninu and team from Lancaster County, Pa.
spent a day combing the wellknown haunts behind Margate over
two tides to yield seven large flounder with only two at the minimum size of 18 inches. All others ranged up to a four and half
pounder. They also had two nice blue fish. Frank said they caught
only one fish on a “tap dancer” and all the rest on bucktails. Michael Mosca caught a fat nineteen and a half inch flounder on a
short solo trip during “perfect storm” conditions. Brian Waight of
Ridley Park, Pa. also braved conditions that made drifts more like
“fly-bys” to bring in a nineteen inch flounder.
One of the “must have” windy condition pieces of equipment are drift socks. They can either be purchased or fabricated
by drilling holes in four gallon pails. Anglers see a major difference
in their ability to feel fish biting when they slow down a drift.
Some of the largest flounder caught in local waters
in many years have surfaced in the past three weeks. In recent
years, one nine pounder a season has been the norm. This year so
far, reports have documented a couple of nine pound flounder, and
an eleven, with four pounders a common occurrence. Although the
season appears to be a couple of weeks behind last year with a
cold wet spring, the flounder don't seem to mind.
