Faux Finishes
vs.
Decorative Finishes
A faux finish is a painted finish that looks like something real. Marble, wood, stone,
and brick like the examples you’ve just seen are all faux finishes.
The term decorative finish is all inclusive. It includes faux finishes and any other
applied finish. A glazed wall is not a faux finish.

Dry wall Finishing
Level 1 - fire taping plenum areas
Level 2 - Garages and warehouse areas
Level 3 - Under heavy texture or heavy wall covering and
contractor textures
Level 4 - Flat paint, light texture or light weight wall covering and
many decorative finishes
Level 5 - severe lighting conditions, high gloss finishes, smooth
gilding, venetian plaster and faux marble
Site conditions
ie ceiling height and obstacles can
increase price and time line.

Trompe l’oeil - “Trick the eye”
The illusion that painted detail is three-dimensional. Obviously the village and
landscape are painted. The stone work, arches and windows with their highlight and
shadow are also painted .
