GAMING INTRODUCTION AND SCHEDULE
All gaming remains under one roof in the Atlanta Hilton—BUT it’s our last year in the Hilton! Next
year all of Gaming will be moving elsewhere. Please see the end of this section for details.
For 2015 we have the usual maps included in the Pocket Program, the mobile apps, and the
Gaming Guide to help you navigate. There is also signage that will help direct you to the proper
floor and meeting room. If all else fails and you have trouble finding a meeting room or event,
please ask a helpful volunteer at Gaming Registration, located in the Galleria level of the Hilton
(the bottom floor) or the information booth for the Hilton in the second floor lobby.
In general, the bottom floor, the Galleria level, is where you will find Board, Miniatures, and Card
Games. The second floor, above the hotel lobby, contains LAN Gaming, Video Gaming panels and
Table Top panels, and role-playing games. The third floor hosts the National Security Decision
Making Game and War College panels and presentations, and more role-playing games. The fourth
floor is where the LARPers congregate.
Most games but not all run under a four-hour session system. If a given event shows no duration,
assume it is three and half or four hours. If there is no listed cost, assume it is free.

We try to plan tournaments and events so that each game finishes with at least 15 minutes left
in the session to allow people to get to their next game. Large tournaments in some of the gaming
areas do not follow this pattern, and some games run over one and a half or two full sessions. This
is usually noted in the description area for that event. When browsing the events, you will usually
find that each event is referred to by the session number and not the actual day or times, though
some use both.
The friendly volunteers at Gaming Registration will be able to answer any questions you have or
help you find the answers you need. Gaming Registration will be open Thursday evening for you
early birds at 8:00 PM and also every day of the convention at 8:00 AM. Gaming Registration is
located in the Galleria in the Atlanta Hilton. After you descend the stairs or the down escalator into
the Galleria level, hang a left and look straight ahead.
In order to play in most events you will need an event ticket. Most event tickets are $3.00, but
there are many free demonstration games, and a handful are more expensive. There are also
Collectable Card Game tournaments that charge more, and those tickets usually include the cards
you will use and keep in your games. You can also purchase generic tickets that are usable at any
event. If an event is sold out, you can show up for that event with a generic ticket and if anyone
with a “real” ticket for that event does not show up you will be able to step in. Other tournaments
will be able to add additional space as needed. This is particularly true for the larger events, where
there is more of a chance of a no-show or cancellation.
We collect admission fees for events to fund prizes for most events. We award “Dealer Coins” to
the winners of some events that can be used as credit in the Exhibition Halls in the AmericasMart
and the Dragon Con Stores in the Marriott, Sheraton, and the AmericasMart. Each coin is valued
at $5 in credit.
Congratulations! You’ve reached the end of this section, and here are some more details on where
all of Gaming will be moving. The smart money is on the AmericasMart Building 1, floors 1 and 2,
and some of the meeting rooms in the Westin Peachtree Plaza. It’s not been completely decided
where each event and gaming genre will be, but the Westin will be an integral part to Gaming. If
you are looking to stay in the “Gaming Hotel,” the Westin will be your best bet. Wherever we end
up, there will still be 24-hour gaming. By making this move we will much more room to expand our
gaming offerings. We will make decisions about all of this as quickly as we can and when decided
will let folks know via the usual suspects: social media, our website, our quarterly newsletter, and
the Warning beacons of Gondor.

DRAGON CON 2015 GAMING GUIDE
MECHCORPS AT DRAGON CON
They’re back! MechCorps is a place to let off steam by beating on your friends in a virtual arena
by driving Giant Robots loaded to the teeth with guns, lasers, missiles, and all types of weaponry.
Twelve players at a time enter the cockpit simulator pods after a short training session. Each player
uses seven display screens, over 50 controls, foot pedals, throttle, and joystick to take on all others.
The game is easy to learn, but hard to master. Adjustable skill levels allow the novice to enjoy the
game, but can also give the veterans a challenge.
See more info on the pods and the game via the Training Manual at MechCorps.com/trainingmanual.
NSDMG 25TH ANNIVERSARY!
“Note that since Dragon Con 1990, we’ve put on hundreds of games in at least 17 different
venues, including entertainment conventions, government education and training courses
and academia. But Dragon Con always has a special place in our hearts and as well as in
NSDM Game history.”—Captain Mark McDonagh, USN/Ret.
The National Security Decision Making Game (NSDMG) is a political, military, and economic
roleplaying game that uses gaming at an entertaining medium to inform players of contemporary,
historical and futuristic geopolitical, military and economic issues.
The idea behind the NSDM game is: “You players are the Congress. You over there, you’re the
Cabinet. You folks in the corner are the Joint Chiefs. This guy’s the President. The scenario is that
it’s the world as you know it today. Fix it. You may start now.”
New issues and problems in every game, different nations played in every game, showing a range of
real issues across the world, and modeling a number of different political systems. Can you affect Iran
as the US? Can you take the Ukraine playing Russia? And how do you solve a problem like Korea?
NSDMG will also be running a Cold War game, in which scenarios dealing with the East-West
struggle are presented, with a particular emphasis on counterfactual history (read sci-fi themes);
a fast-paced Cuban Missile Crisis game that puts you in the hot seat in Havana, Moscow, or
Washington as the clock counts down to Armageddon; and a futuristic game in which we start
players in 2032, following a decade of massive global environmental disruption that threatens to
tip the tables on global powers, leadership, and centers of gravity.
The NSDMG lecture series will follow up on the performance from the last two years with detailed
presentations covering contemporary and historical geopolitical and military topics, including
prominent World War I anniversaries, and examining the actual potential for apocalyptic scenarios
such as a massive, civilization-shaking pandemic or radiological catastrophe in the near future.
Full details can be found at nsdmg.org. NSDM is also on Facebook, where they frequently post
links to, and discuss, articles of general and national security interest: facebook.com/pages/TheNational-Security-Decision-Making-Game/187557132044.
SETTLERS OF CATAN: WORLDWIDE CATAN CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER

different types of contraband, banned inebriates,
stolen archeological relics from across any number
of alterversal and co-spatial realities, and even
Xeno-Sentient slave trafficking. During the annual
convergence, the Hyperversal Hounds Guild use the
annual access to Typhonopolis to locate, secure and,
when needed, search and destroy individuals who are
heavily wanted in systems they service.
Such hunts can be tricky for those doing the hunting,
considering the station itself does not claim loyalty to
any power-that-be, save its own.
Conscript is a high immersion, sandbox-style, episodic
Space Opera Science-Fiction LARP, with a strong
emphasis on community involvement. Conscript is set
in a complex, expansive, and unique Hyperverse with
over two dozen player species and—for those who
wish to step even further abroad—a system to create
your own playable alien species.

The Eaton Family Cordially Requests Your Attendance
at the First Annual Eatonville Acres Under the Sea
Antebellum Ball and War Relief Charity Auction.
As you have surely heard, the recent outbreak of Civil
War in Amari’z has torn asunder families and friends
on both sides of the Mezo Di’, but the Eaton Family
has been working with the Patrician’s Guild to set
up a Relief Fund for those on all sides effected by
the loss of their homes and loved ones. All proceeds
from the Auction will be held in escrow by the Guild
Hall and shall be distributed to those in need in any
region of Amari’z as said need arises and requests for
aid are received.
For now, let us kick up our heels and celebrate life,
to remind ourselves that both sides have many things
worth fighting for! Perhaps if we recall our roots we
can come together once again for the greater good,
even if for now it’s only one evening.

Dark Passages LARP is a unique blend of High Fantasy
and Steampunk. Magic has been lost for a thousand
years, and is just now peeking back into the known
world. As such, every aspect of magic is strictly Find
Out In Play. Railroads and factories are in full swing
in Amari’z, while the first steam-powered ships have
just launched to sea trials, and the first six-guns have
just hit the open market. The rest of the known world
is still relatively primitive in nature. We have mingled
a wide variety of cultures, subcultures, and races, so
that every potential character concept should be able
to find its unique niche within the Realm of Othonia.
Fractured is a live-combat Dark Fantasy LARP in
which you play a denizen of one of seven dark Outer
Worlds. In each of these worlds, cracks in the fabric
of reality have begun to appear to a Place of No
Return. Your characters will be among the first to be
marooned in this new world. Will it become a paradise
or an abattoir? Fractured is, at its core, a dark fantasy
game with a diverse array of character possibilities.
Our setting and rules system promote a game where
disparate and often alien peoples are forced by
circumstance to stand by one another for the purpose
of continued survival.
Our goal is to deliver a high quality, high intensity
game, with a delicate balance of combat, intrigue,
and roleplaying challenges. We take our players’
feedback very seriously, and make every attempt to
emphasize player-driven plotlines just as much as the
overall story.

Forest of Doors Fantasy LARP
White Tie and Tails
Date and Time: Sunday Night
At the threshold of Heaven, wanderlings convene
to heal the shards of wounded gods. Mortals and
immortals mix and meet with the denizens of the
White City under the watchful eyes of its guardians,
hoping to breathe more life into the Virtues of old.
Let a new primordial age dawn, and the figures of
destiny choose the shape of a newborn world.
Forest of Doors is a live-combat fantasy LARP in
which you play a denizen of one of eight distinct
homeworlds, or perhaps dozens of stranger shared
worlds. In each of these worlds, magical gates
appear, leading to the strange and unknown world
of the Forest of Doors. In essence, Forest of Doors
is a multi-genre game with a vast array of character
possibilities. Our setting and rules system promote
a game that is fundamentally heroic in nature, and
character cooperation will be necessary for survival in
this unknown—and dangerous—frontier.
This, our seventh Dragon Con event, is a non-combat
event that foreshadows the tone and stories to come
in our live combat events during the next season. Find
out more at forestofdoors.com!

In the House of Sacred Numerology
Date and Time: Saturday Night
The people of The Fracture take a breath, only
to notice a strange... something in the air. A door
opens in the town of Convergence to a place of alien
splendor and dangerous enigma. Two worlds meet
and mingle in this oh so brief time of peace and
celebration. In the midst of this uncanny night of
ritual and mystery, the wheels of politics and intrigue
begin to turn towards a brighter future. Everyone has
a part to play, a die to cast in the events that will lead
to great things... or drive the whole of civilization
screaming off a cliff.

Immersive Reactive Experience (Multi-Genre
LARP)
Starfarers: Heart of Glass
Date and Time: Friday Night
Do you tune into the Signal or will you surrender to
the Silence? The space station known as the Heart
of Glass has never landed a concert this big before.
The stellar rock diva known only as Lady Mercury has
agreed to play a one night show in the amphitheater
of the Heart of Glass. Everything must be perfect and
so of course everything is falling apart. The roadies,
groupies, and backup singers of Lady Mercury’s
transplanetary tour will have to prep last minute
concert promotion materials, fix blackouts, and
answer the diva whims of Lady Mercury. You’ve all
got a stake in tonight going off without a hitch so it’s
time to rock out.
Starfarers is a science fiction rock opera that has a
simple color based rules set ideal for both new larpers
and for veterans who want to let their hair down in a
one-shot. Heart of Glass is a self-contained one-shot
story. The rules are kept simple so anyone can jump in,
and we hope people who have never larped before will
find this to be an introduction to larping and veteran
larpers will find this as a unique setting will not have
seen elsewhere. Costuming is not required but those
who wish to glam out as what space traveling rock
stars would look like are encouraged to do so.
After the End: All Souls
Date and Time: Sunday Day
Seventy-four years after the cataclysmic events
that heralded the End of the world as we knew it,
society has dissolved into a handful of hardscrabble
survivors eking out an existence in a hostile new
landscape. While Drifters roam the land with guns in
tow, small communities begin to spring up among the
wastes: beacons of hope set upon a strange frontier.
In what was once the southern United States, the
walled-off city of Atlanta remains firmly within the
delicate iron grip of its mysterious Resurrectionist
Queen. As renowned for her sagacity as for her
command of the dead, Atlanta’s Queen opens her
borders once per year as an enticement to potential
new citizens. This year you are one of the lucky few
who has the good fortune to experience the Queen’s
hospitality firsthand.
DRAGON CON 2015 GAMING GUIDE
After the End is a western science-fiction LARP that
takes place in a dangerous, post-apocalyptic landscape
set a few generations after the fall of civilization. All
Souls is part of After the End’s Year Zero campaign,
which establishes setting history and allows players to
give direct feedback on the shaping of the game’s rule
system. Players who participate in Year Zero games will
be also able to transfer build earned by their Year Zero
characters to their Year One characters, giving them a
leg-up when that campaign begins in 2016.
Killer Compliments
Date and Time: All Show!
Alternate Reality Game (ARG) is a style of interaction
where game elements are added to everyday life. If
you’ve ever played a phone app where you “check in”
at a location and get points for doing so, then you’ve
already participated in an ARG. In Killer Compliments,
each player has a weakness and a weapon, both of
which are specific compliments. The play space is
the entirety of the Con, and players do not have any
special badge to indicate who is playing. This means
you’ll be wandering the Con paying compliments
to everyone and being worried that someone may
randomly pay the wrong compliment to you. Killer
Compliments does not have a specific storyline and is
meant as a casual game to be played throughout Con.

Time After Time
Date and Time: Friday Night, Saturday Night,
Sunday Night with a Monday wrap up award session
Setting: Victorian London (1895)
Welcome to Merry Old England, where the city is filled
with more than meets the eye. Beneath the streets of
the seat of the British Empire lies a world that is dark
and menacing. The powers that vie for control of the
city since the Prince’s recent changing of hands due to
unexplained circumstances are all pushing for an edge
over one another. The Ventrue are fighting to maintain
order and ownership of the city in the Camarilla. The
Sabbat are caught up in civil war and those that wish
to avoid it or gain power in it are scattered about
Europe sparsely. The Shifters have a strong foothold
established in the dark moors surrounding the city and
in Scotland thanks to the Fianna and the Wind Catcher
Sept. Magic abounds both in and out of sight in London
thanks to séances, magicians, and escape artists of
fame. As always, the courts of the Fae come and go as
they please, mostly unaccosted, with the giant Freehold
of Avalon and the only remaining treasured Sidhe in its
ranks and residence.
The current Prince has called a gathering due to very
serious issues arising in the city. There have been a
disturbing amount of disappearances and now two
deaths related to the sightings of “a great beast
made of steam and metal”. The Shifters claim it is
hunting in their territory outside the city and blame
the Kindred currently.
The Kindred believe that the Magi may have some
odd hand in this and know that they did not do it.
The magi have asserted that this is nothing but a ploy
to cause dissent in the cities balance by that new
faction of shifters that have been granted residence
in the city on concession, the Iron Riders as they call
themselves. Meanwhile the fae sense a strong and
dangerous growth of banality in the foggy and still
legendary streets of London. One way or another, they
must get to the bottom of this and solve the issue
before the issue decides to solve itself.
Come Join Nightfall productions for our thirteenth
Dragon Con with a trip to Merry Old England. This
is a multi-genre game that allows Vampires, Mages,
Garou, Fae, and Hunters. This is a role-play–heavy,

and the story is intended for mature audiences.
Participants under the age of 18 will need to have

The Life of Death
Date and Time: Friday Night, Saturday Day, and
Sunday Day
It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred
centuries The Emperor has sat immobile on the
Golden Throne of Earth. Mighty battle fleets cross
the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the
only route between distant stars, their way lit by
the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the
Emperor’s will. Vast armies give battle in his name on
uncounted worlds. His forces are legion: the Imperial
Guard and countless planetary defense forces, the
ever vigilant Inquisition, and the tech-priests of the
Adeptus Mechanicus, to name only a few. But for
all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold
off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics,
mutants—and worse. To be a man in such times
is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in
the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable.
These are the tales of those times. Forget the power
of technology and science, for so much has been
forgotten, never to be re-learned. Forget the promise
of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark
future there is only WAR.
Come Join Nightfall productions for our thirteenth
Dragon Con by delving into the heart of the Warhammer
40k universe. This is a role-play–heavy, mechanicslight Live-Action Role Play set in the Warhammer
40k Universe. Themes include Investigation, Horror,
Adventure, and Survival, and the story is intended
for mature audiences. Participants under the age
of 18 will need to have the permission of a parent
or guardian to attend. All required game supplies
will be provided, but costuming is encouraged! For

Wouldn’t you like to know specifics about this game?
Well, so would we! But, the good folks behind
Xadune have kept this project so secret, that it’s
apparently even beyond DC’s security clearance to
know anything about it. So, you’re just going to have
to stop by the Xadune table and see what all the
intrigue is about!
Xadune (pronounced: ‘eks-ā-dün) is a Georgia based
Steampunk/Gaslamp themed LARP that centers around
a mysterious island city on the planet of Xadune. The
game offers fresh themes based in a Victorian period
with both gaslamp and science fiction roots. Rich with
culture and history, Xadune offers an “open source”
combat system. Unlike most other LARPs, you are not
limited to what weapon you are skilled in; if you can
pick it up, you can swing it (but not at Dragon Con).
Most skills reflect either knowledge or special skills,
with which you can build your character in a classless
system. Uniquely, Xadune also offers religion where,
much like in Greek mythology, deities look over and
often meddle with peoples’ lives. Xadune is a LARP
offering exciting new role-playing opportunities as well
as a unique combat system and a spectacularly diverse
Victorian steampunk world.
For more information visit us at xadune.com for
scheduling, rules and our forum. You can also find us
on Facebook at facebook.com/Xadune.
Characters for the Dragon Con events will be
pre-generated with a short back story. For more
information, please stop by the table in the Hilton or
email [email protected].

Friday, 6:00 PM, 313–314, Atlanta Hilton
Directed Energy Weapons, Fact and Fiction,
History and Potential
Friday, 9:00 AM, 313–314, Atlanta Hilton
Long the weapon of choice for science fiction authors
and screenplay writers, so-called “death rays” have done
everything from burn up electronics to blow up planets—
and that’s not even addressing the shark question. With
the deployment of an operational laser weapon on
the US Fifth Fleet command ship, these are no longer
entirely science fiction. This lecture will discuss current
developments in directed energy weapons, attempt to
separate fact and potential from fiction and fancy, and
project their near-term use as both combat weapons and
terrorist tools. Presentation will delve into the physics
of these systems. Presented by Capt. Mark McDonagh,
USN/ret., a submarine officer with 12 years’ experience
at the Naval War College and with BS and MS degrees in
physics, now on the NSDMG staff.
Robots, Drones and Cyber War: How They
Will Change Future Conflict
Friday, 10:00 AM, 313–314 Atlanta Hilton
An overview of developments in electronics enabling
new, smaller, more accurate, smarter, even intelligent
weapons systems and how this is changing the nature
of conflict. Less expensive, more bang for the buck,
removing the operator to a safe area—but divorcing him
from the reality of war and possibly blinding him from
moral implications. Meanwhile, a potential upcoming
engagement of machine versus machine, computer
versus computer, and network versus network may be
around the corner, this war not restricted to nationstates or clearly marked combat zones, the combatants
instead including legions of 15-year-olds affecting
millions across the digital world from the comfort of the
couch in their parents’ basements. The features of war
in this near future and its strategies are explored in this
lecture by Dr. Craig Greathouse and Merle S. Robinson
of the NSDMG Staff.
The Coming of the Five Horsemen of the
Future Global Apocalypse—National Security
Decision Making Game Staff
Friday, 11:00 AM, 313–314, Atlanta Hilton
What potential catastrophes is CNN missing? A broad
discussion of current, and potential future, problem areas
around the world with an eye toward the cataclysmic, this
panel discussion and seminar, the signature event of the
NSDM Game staff, explores current and potential nearterm future problem areas. Want to know what to expect
in the next year? What might happen and what are the
implications of it? What are drivers, what indicators to
watch for, and how might events be affected by the U.S.
and the West? Presented by Dr. Craig Greathouse, Capt.
Mark McDonagh, Robert Mosher, Merle Robinson and
David March of the NSDMG staff.
Geopolitical, military, and economic role-playing game,
celebrating the 25th anniversary of its first public debut
at Dragon Con. Players take senior leadership positions
in a real-world nation. Here’s the game: “You players are
the politicians. You over there, you’re the Cabinet. You
folks over by the big maps are the military leadership.
Here’s your country; you’ve heard of it, it’s not fictional,
it’s real, and so are its problems. The scenario is: it’s
the world as you know it today. Here are the real issues.
Fix them. Start now.” Do you feel up to the job? New
countries, issues and problems in every game.
History of Submarine Warfare, Key
Anniversaries (150th, 100th, and 75th): Last
Confederate Operations, Lusitania Fiasco and
the U-Boats’ First Happy Time
Friday, 10:00 PM, 313–314, Atlanta Hilton
Capt. Mark McDonagh, USN/ret., a submarine officer
with 12 years’ experience at the Naval War College, now
on the NSDMG staff, continues his ongoing discussion
of Great Anniversaries of key events in the history of
submarine warfare. This year, the lecture covers the final,
post-Hunley Confederate submarine operations by the
Singer Secret Service Corps; the 1915 Lusitania sinking
and the German’s initial flirtation with unrestricted
submarine warfare that would ultimately bring the U.S.
into World War I; and the 1940 acceleration of the
U-boat campaign that the U-boat commanders would
come to refer to as “the First Happy Time.” Lecture
examines the technology, tactics, strategic goals,
expectations and results of the campaigns.

intelligence and is often considered one of the most
important, powerful and secret entities in the U.S.
intelligence community. This lecture will delve into the
background of the Venona documents, the surprise at

Russia: Security, Interests, and Capabilities
Saturday, 11:00 AM, 314, Atlanta Hilton
Prior to the Ukrainian crisis many people had
written Russia off as a “has been” power who was
in significant decline. With its successful action in
Crimea and Ukraine the power and capabilities of
Russia are being reexamined. In looking at Russia’s
strategy it quickly becomes apparent that Russia
never changed, but rather international focus shifted.
This lecture provides an understanding of the
capabilities of Russia within their strategic framework.
Presented by Dr. Craig Greathouse of the NSDM staff.
Dr. Greathouse is a Professor of Political Science at
the University of North Georgia, where he specializes
in the study of the European Union, International

Sunday
Cuban Missile Crisis Worst-Case Scenarios
Sunday, 9:00 AM, 313–314, Atlanta Hilton
Since the release of previously-classified Soviet
information, we’ve learned that the Soviets deployed
not only strategic ballistic missiles to Cuba in 1962,
but also tactical nuclear rockets, cruise missiles, and
even torpedoes on the submarines sent to the area.
What might have resulted, by mistake or design, from
the planned U.S. air strikes, invasion, or aggressive
prosecution of a nuclear-armed submarine? A retired
U.S. Navy Captain and senior member of National
Security Decision Making (NSDM) Game staff, with
an M.S. in physics and twelve years’ experience on the
campus at the U.S. Naval War College, will present
a worst-case scenario and brief the implications of a
nuclear exchange between the U.S. and U.S.S.R circa
1962: yields, available delivery platforms, expected
accuracies, effective defenses and likely targets. What
does “1 megaton” really mean when you’re a few
miles away? What about fallout? What would have
happened to the U.S. and to the Soviet Union, and
what would things look like today if it had happened?
Lecture to be followed by role-playing game (you do
NOT have to attend this lecture to take part in and
appreciate the game).

Cuban Missile Crisis NSDM Game Havana
Paranoia, Moscow Megalomania, and
Washington Wobblies
Sunday, 10:00 AM, 313–314, Atlanta Hilton
(You do NOT have to attend the preceding 9:00 AM
lecture to take part in and appreciate the game.) October
1962: Moscow feels that they’ve pulled off the most
massive overseas deployment of combat forces without
giving the Americans a clue. Then in Washington,
intelligence confirms that there are Soviet offensive
ballistic missiles in Cuba, and some argue for harsh
action to solve the “Castro problem” once and for all,
others want to defuse the situation, and some even seem
to want to nuke the Soviets “just because.” In Havana,
Cubans and Russians alike prepare for attack and/or
invasion, and try to wag the dog as the superpowers
posture. Experience the decisions, the diplomacy,
the war apprehension; and there will be unintended
consequences and the occasional unexpected event.
