Editorial
Objectives
2015 will be key in global mobilization for sustainable
development in the face of climate change. Indeed, the
end of the Millennium Development Goals is around the
corner but we are not there yet and millions of people
see their future jeopardized by low or no access to food
and water.
• To allow francophone youth to actively participate in
the debate around climate change within COP 21.
In Paris at COP 21 States will make decisions about the
future of the planet.
The Francophonie, beyond its important cultural, economic,
and political dimensions, has to care about youth as they
represent the majority of the population. Youth have a
huge potential for innovation and their voice has to be
taken into account.
In this context France-Quebec Organization for Youth
(Office Franco Quebecois pour la Jeunesse), Global Water
Partnership, and International Secretariat for Water have
initiated a project on water and food security.
This initiative aims at mobilizing young water experts
from 4 continents in their countries and at international
events in order to act at both global and country level.
They will in particular issue analyses and recommendations in a white paper to be released and presented to
decision makers at COP 21.
Thank you to all partners supporting the project, in particular
to the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie.

COP21: The 21st session of the Conference of
the Parties to the United Nations Framework
Convention on Climate change (COP21/
CMP11). Also known as « Paris 2015 » COP
21 will be a crucial conference because it needs to achieve
a new international agreement on the climate, applicable to
all countries, with the aim of keeping global warming below
2 degrees C.
