LS230 FUNCTIONALITY
Relay Functions

General - The LS230 internal relay driver supports all applicable
DALI commands including scenes and level cmds. Relay turns on
with any DALI “on” command that results in a actual level greater
than 0 and turns off with any cmd that results in an actual level =
0.

Coordination - Relays may be used separately or in conjunction
with dimming but are limited to on/off response.

Scenes - Use any value above zero to turn on and any value
equal to zero to turn off.

Latching - Set latching mode with DALI System Fail value.

SysFail = 0, Normally Open (NO) Default

SysFail = 1-254, Normally Closed (NC)

SysFail = 255, Electrically Latched (EL)
Latching determines the state of the relay after a DALI bus
power cycle. NO-open, NC-closed, and EL-the relay returns
the its state before the power cycle.
Occupancy DI Functions

Factory Default Operation - The LS230 is configured to operate
as a conventional occupancy sensor with relay control. No addressing is required but sensors can be configured with broadcast commands. All other modes require addressing to configure.

Vacancy - (Manual-on/Auto-off) Consistent and intuitive operation plus highest energy rating. Requires manual controls like the
CoreNet TR218. Recommended warning period of 120 seconds
to allow occupants time to retrip the system before lights turn off.

Occupancy - (Auto-on/Auto-off) Traditional “occupancy” function.
Not compatible with manual controls.

Restore - (Auto-off Disabled) Disables the auto-off function to
create an Indefinite warning period. Use for private offices, hallways, and other spaces where low-level light is needed but turning lights off is not. Often used in conjunction with the CoreNet
Scheduler.

Occupancy Delay - Settable from 1-30 minutes (10minutes factory default)

Warning Delay - Delay period before turning off. When entering

into this state dimmable lights are
reduced to the minimum value and a relay connected to the DO
will turn off. Motion detected during this period will return to the
previous level and restart the Occupancy Delay timer.
Acoustic Override Timer - Limits the time period that acoustic
trips can maintain the Occupancy Delay state.
DALI Occ Monitor Addresses - An off command to any of these
DALI group addresses will cause the occupancy control to return
to its idle state.
DALI Transmit Group Address - Group addresses controlled by
the Occupancy function.
Daylight Functions

Setpoint Mode
 Adaptive- Maintains user set light level. Use for classrooms,
offices, conference rooms with manual controls with closed
loop daylighting and one light sensor per daylight zone.
 Fixed- Conventional fixed setpoint control maintains a constant
a setpoint. Use for open or public spaces without manual dimming control.

Adjustment Rate - Determines how fast daylighting makes adjustments.

Deadband - Range around setpoint. Switched daylighting requires are large deadband to prevent cycling. May also be used
if fixed setpoint dimming mode to set range under setpoint for
user dimming.

DALI Monitor Addresses - Adjustments made to any of these
DALI group addresses will initiate the calibration and Adaptive
setpoint process.

DALI Transmit Address - DALI group address controlled by the
Daylight function.

Adaptive Setpoint Delay - Time period after user adjustments
have stopped before calibrating sensor and capture setpoint.

Adaptive Setpoint Max - Maximum allowed setpoint value,

Light Sensor Gain - Increase to 4 for low light levels.
Button Operation

Notes
1.
2.
3.
4.
Function works with DALI dimming and relays separately or
together except that: DALI relays do not respond to the interim
dim period, they turn on at 100%, and they do not respond to
R/L (raise/lower) commands.
Bi-level relay switching is not supported.
Scenes are not energy certified as their “on” level cannot be
regulated but they are allowed when used in conjunction with
MOS and MLO controls.
50% on level is network adjustable from 30-70%. Relays turn
on at 100% and they do not respond to R/L commands.

CA Title 24 Compliance Notes:
1. DIM Category - Not applicable to the LS230 or other CoreNet
controllers as it refers to power control devices such as DALI
ballasts and the TR51 dimmer.
2. Initial On Level - MOS & MLO applications are designed to
work with manual controls by keeping track of the room state
so that each time the lights are manually activated they turn
on at 30-70% regardless of previous setting or how the lights
turned off.
3. Manual Control - required for the MOS and MLO categories
can be provided by any DALI compliant manual controller
with an on/off function and initial on restrictions including the
TR117 and TR218. See note 7 for scene restrictions.
4. OSM Category - Conventional auto-on/auto-off occupancy
controls used without manual controls. See note 6 for manual off function.
5. Light Sensor - The LS230 is available as a stand-along light
sensor for open and closed loop applications.
6. Manual-Off/Auto-on Restriction - Manual-off is restricted to
the MOS and MLO categories because auto-on and manualoff functions are mutually exclusive in a room-aware system.
7. Scene Restrictions- All scene calls are assumed to be “on”
commands as DALI scene commands cannot be definitively
interpreted by the controller.

RT03 - Dual Bus DALI Power Supply. Router, and TCP/IPDALI Gateway
Made in USA
Energy Management
The RT03
bridges the gap
between the
fragile world of
high-speed TCP/
IP networks and
the noisy, rough
and tumble
world of devicelevel networks. It has two full power DALI networks
(commonly called buses and sometime loops) that can
operate independently or be bridged together to form
extended DALI groups. Individual routers can also be
stand alone or networked together to create interactive whole-buildings control systems.

whole room or master group. If subgroups are
used they are typically organized by fixture types
or geographical important groups like fixtures over
a blackboard or near an entrance.
 Selecting the Master Group - Use the “Filter-byGroup” This will simplify the process by reducing
the addresses in the Device list box to only those
objects within a scene control zone.

Determining Scene Numbers—Before
modifying or creating a new scene, determine
what scenes numbers are being called by the

fresh by erasing previous scenes. This is done by
moving all the room objects into the Modification
window and choosing the Mask level

QUERY - DALI property values are stored in
the Admin database the DALI objects themselves. Use query to display and refresh these
values.
BUS BRIDGING - Need to control an entire
facility from a single switch? Bridging does the job.
DALI BALLAST REPLACEMENT - With 54 properties,
an operating DALI ballast can store a lot of data. The Admin Lite
ballast replacement program is designed to assist by maintaining all
those settings in a backup database where they can be quickly accessed and uploaded to replaced ballasts.

SETPOINT CAPTURE
What is Setpoint Capture? - Daylight sensor readings must be calibrated to account for mounting
height, location, room geometry, reflectance, and electric lights output.
Start - After selecting a controller, use the LL button
(14.11) to read the current light level and then fill in
the daylighting properties discussed below before going to then next page to schedule the capture.

Controller - Select from pull down list.

Zone Control Method - Select “Switched” for relay systems and “Dim” for continuous dimming.

Daylight Mode - For dim systems select Fixed or
LumeStat.

Sensitivity - Update frequency in seconds.

Xmit Group - DALI group being controlled.

System Scheduling - CoreNet’s powerful scheduling software for systems with CoreNet System Controllers allows Owners to customize the operation of their facilities.
Who? - Create selection sets of ballasts, relays,
controllers, and sensors.
What? - Create execution scripts for the selection
sets to include:
GoTo level

GoTo scene

Enable or disable Occupancy sensors

Enable or disable Daylight sensors

Enable or disable controllers/buttons

