PreSchool’s Good Manners Wall
By: Ms. Jolly Valenton
We
believe
that
consistency,
repetition
and
modelling desirable behaviours increases the child’s ability
to understand and use their newly acquired skills in real-life
situations.
The Preschool Good Manners Wall aims to foster
positive attitude towards peers and adults in school. Situational
pictures are displayed on the wall to provide children with
different ways on how they can use polite words and
expressions to communicate with their peers, parents and
adults around them.
During Assembly, teachers talk about these “Polite
Expressions” through pictures/visuals, songs or short clips. The
Preschoolers sing or say these polite expressions and use them
appropriately.
These efforts help create a positive change among our
kids by infusing social and emotional learning and character
education into daily academic instruction in Preschool.
What’s Inside?

Vacation Bible School
By: Nicole, P5 Faith
“Walk with Jesus” was the theme of this year’s VBS
which was held on 22 November 2014. It was attended by
45 students from Primary 4 to Primary 6. The activity started
with songs of praise led by Ms. Hazel. Then, the kids
memorised a verse from the Bible by acting out the words.
Soon after, Mr Sean shared some Bible stories and told
everyone that walking with Jesus entails listening and obeying
His commands.
The students were so delighted with the fun games and
the prizes that they received! Truly, the VBS was a fun-filled
and an uplifting experience for our students.

“Festival of COLours”
2014
By Ingrit and Eugenia, P3 Faith
On 1 November 2014, the school had her Open House themed as the “Festival of
Colours”. Its highlight was the cheering competition among the four houses. The school hall was
filled with loud yells and lively dance routines of students as they showcased their house‟s wellrehearsed performances. Everyone was awed by each house‟s performance including the parents
and guests who wore coloured shirts representing the house they cheer for. The Blue Dolphins won
the cheering competition while the Green Panthers were rewarded for bringing in the most number
of guests.
The pupils enjoyed the games at the game booths that were organised by the Preschool and
Primary teachers as well as the Secondary students. Everybody also enjoyed lots of yummy food
from the food stalls which were set up at the canteen. In the afternoon, there was the men‟s
basketball match between some of our parents and teachers. The day was totally loaded with fun
and excitement. We want to thank the parents who had generously sponsored the „Basketball Cup
2014‟.

BBS Talents at PVJ
By Ms. Hazel
Overwhelming! This best describes the response of
the crowd during our school‟s mall exhibition at PVJ last 18
October 2014. Some selected students performed to promote
the school and its previous Open-House activity.
Alylah (P6)
Mall goers could not help but stop and watch the
performance of our very own BBS-Bandung Ensemble. They
were mesmerized by the cuteness of our Preschoolers who
recited a poem, sang a Chinese song and danced confidently
before a large crowd. Well, who would not be impressed by
the Primary 4 pupils‟ speech choir performance entitled “The
Mountain Challenge”. Of course, let us not forget how the

our very energetic
“Dancerella” Primary kids did their lively performance.
Indeed, it was really an overwhelming day for the
entire BBS-Bandung family.

whole of Indonesia while the Silver Award goes to the top 1% of all the participants in
Indonesia. This awesome performance by our pupils raised the position of BBS Bandung 4
levels up to the 5th position among the top 10 performing schools for ICAS in Indonesia,
2014.
We all know that such results cannot just come about without the hard work and
dedication of all the teachers in the school. Neither will it happen without the support and
help given by you, the parents. Of course, the participants, our pupils deserve a pat on
their backs for being so conscientious and focused. Success can only be achieved
through sheer hard work and perseverance. I want to thank all of you for playing your
role in helping BBS achieve success!
The December school break is approaching and it will be good if you can spend
quality time with your children. Sit down and plan a schedule with your children. There
home like toys with varying shapes and sizes. They
also wore certain colours to form a human rainbow.
There was also an art activity for each level and the
Quiz Bee for the K1 and K2 students.
Parents were able to witness how their
children diligently answered the questions during
the Maths competition. After the Easy, Average
and Difficult Rounds, winners emerged in both K1
and K2 levels. Mr Michael gave the winners their
certificates and prizes on November 21 in the Hall.

this way, the time the children have will be gainfully spent. If you do bring them on an

The Preschool Area turned into a colourful
carnival during the Open House. The kids enjoyed
playing in the different game stations set-up by our
hardworking preschool teachers. The games were
the “Fish-In-A-Cup”, “Bean Bag Throw” and “Ring
Toss”.
After completing all the stations, the kids
proceeded to the “Prize Hunt” station where they
dug a prize in a bed of balls. The kids who played in
the Preschool “A-maze-ing” Carnival could not get
enough of just one round of game so most of them
repeatedly enjoyed themselves in each game
station! The day was such a blast! To those who
missed the fun, do not be sad because the carnival
will be back soon!
