A lot of debate, papers and discourse had been presented in many forums, congresses
and seminar on Malay Economy. Even though a lot of progress had been made from the
first wave post independent (1957 - 1970), second wave post May13 (1970-1990) and third
wave of Malaysian Modernization era (1990 - 2009); Malay remains a race that's the most
economically marginalise in equity, wealth ownership, asset ownership, participation in
private industry, senior management position and private education and number of
professional in private sector.
As the country is moving into full liberalization by 2020; the 10th Malaysia Plan, ETP, TPPA
and other plans are set towards it; Malay Economic Summit 2014 / Sidang Kemuncak
Ekonomi Melayu 2014 (SEM2014) is not just to add on in more plan and papers into the
mounting historical debates. SEM2014 is an assessment process of MTEM big agenda and
journey after 2 years of its incorporation in identifying priorities and important action point
in the long journey for Malay economic independent. SEM2014 is realizing hope to
mobilize, galvanize and enlist its stakeholder in its long and challenging journey ahead.

An assessment of Malay Economy and current initiative and identifying priorities
moving forward
An alignment and consolidation of Malay Economic catalysts strength to mobilize,
galvanize and enlist on malay economic agenda
Identifying best practices, success stories and key agenda in strengthening MTEM as
apex institution on Malay economic agenda
Attending delegates
The conference programme has been designed to attract all those who are in the Malay
economic sectors, be it council members, regulators, related government authorities,
project managers, engineers, contractors, consultants, financiers, bankers, lawyers, and a
wide range of public and private organisatons all around Malaysia.
Background MTEM
Majlis Tindakan Ekonomi Melayu Bersatu Berhad (MTEM) is an
association who currently consists of 51 Malays Economic
NGO nationally and 220 organisation for state level. This
organization been incorporated in 2011 to synchronize the
development of Malay’s economic NGO in our country. All of
the national/ state NGOs’ consist of different scale of
entrepreneur with different industry and specialties. Other
than that MTEM also act as a body who concerned about
the challenges
facing by Malays entrepreneur and
committed to ensure the development of the Malay’s
society in National Economic Landscape.
Objective of MTEM

To champion the policies and initiatives in improving Malay standard of living and
participation in the economy.
To represent the Malay Community in Matters pertaining to the economy.
To work towards reducing economic disparities and to promote Malay Agenda.
