Since 1972, The Maple Counseling
Center (TMCC) has helped tens of
thousands of people, young and old
alike, manage the hurdles of emotional
times. The Center is considered one of
the most comprehensive community
counseling centers in the United States.
As a private, nonprofit community mental
health center, TMCC offers a range of services
from family therapy to crisis intervention, and
provides an array of psychological counseling services
for a wide range of individuals, from senior citizens to
infants and from couples to entire families. The Center’s
philosophy of “never turning anyone away for lack of
funds” has extended the reach and hope of wellness to
those who cannot afford other counseling. Among TMCC’s
clients, 25% are unemployed, disabled or retired, and 65%
earn below $20,000 per year. For more information, visit
www.tmcc.org.

Deborah Bach Kallick For Deborah, there has never
been a task too big or a cause too small. Since high school, the former BHHS Girls League
President has continued to serve the local community through her work with numerous civic
and community organizations, including the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the
West Hollywood Library Fund, USC Hillel, and TMCC. Deborah has served as the Vice President
of Government and Industry Relations for Cedars-Sinai Health System since 2000.

& the Drago Family
Cooking in the kitchen with family was the ideal recipe for a man who would later, with his brothers, build
a popular group of restaurants in Los Angeles. Growing up as the youngest son of a big Italian family,
Giacomino couldn’t help but become a leading restaurateur in America, because his dinner table was the
community where everyone gathered. Today, his nine restaurants serve more than 6,000 regulars and
celebrities each week, yet Giacomino treats each patron as if he or she is a guest in his home. The collection
of Drago family restaurants includes Il Pastaio, Via Alloro, Piccolo Paradiso, Yojisan, A1, all located in
Beverly Hills, plus Tanino Ristorante in Westwood, Panzanella in Sherman Oaks, Celestino in Pasadena, and
SHU Sushi House Unico in Bel Air. Giacomino and his wife Alessandra, and their two children Allegra and
Giacomo, consider themselves deeply rooted in their community. For them, Beverly Hills is like a village,
with a strong sense of community, and a place where a warm welcoming smile goes a long way.

angel investing in technology companies. John’s community involvement includes serving
as President of Hillcrest Country Club and Chair of the United Jewish Fund’s Legal Services
Division, as well as fundraising for various schools. Currently, he serves on TMCC’s Nominating

Jeff Lapin Affectionately known as “Lap” in high school, the former class
president has left his imprint in leading companies as a “change manager.” He has served in
executive capacities of numerous public and private companies, including Atari, RazorGator
Interactive, Starwood Hotels, and the House of Blues. Jeff is known as an angel investor, and
has served on several community Boards of Directors, including TMCC, Jewish Big Brothers
Big Sisters, and United States Adaptive Recreation Center. Gail Miller Millan From her early years participating in the
BHHS Girls League and as a candy striper, Gail has always been at the heart of service. She
is currently an Education Program Coordinator for the Geri and Richard Brawerman Nursing
Institute and Nurse Liaison for Community Health Education and Screening Programs
at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She serves on the City of Beverly Hills Health & Safety
Commission, and is proud to follow her mother, Barbara, as a second generation Board
member of TMCC.
Mason Sommers A lifelong advocate for community mental
health, Mason has been a clinical psychologist in Beverly Hills for 33 years. In addition to
being the current Board President of TMCC, Mason is a faculty member of the David Geffen
UCLA School of Medicine. Mason’s appreciation for being an organ transplant recipient has
led him to serve as a Donate Life Ambassador. Mason has also dedicated his time to serving
on the Boards of Directors of The Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Services Center and the
