Kathy Lee DeHart Blevins, 55, of Hardy, KY, passed away
Thursday, January 1, 2015, at UK Medical Center.
She was born July 28, 1959, at Williamson, WV, to the late Billy
DeHart Jr., and Glendine Totten DeHart. She is also preceded in
death by one son, Darrell Eugene Anderson and one brother, Rudy
York DeHart.
She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and a member of the
Community Lighthouse Church.
She is survived by her husband; Lewis Blevins, daughter; Chrystal Dawn Lell of Statesville, NC, son; Gerald T. Anderson of Taylorsville, WV, sisters; Marie (Ronny) Gillman of Thacker, WV, Sandra Kay Jones of Oak Hill,
WV, and Alicia Church of Thacker, WV, brother; Billy Dickey of Laake Charles, LA, grandchildren; Taylor Renee Pearl Kennedy of Statesville, NC, Tiarra Faith Anderson of Taylorsville, WV, and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2014, at 1PM at the Living Stone Church
of God in Lenore, WV, with Ervin Francis, Okey Varney, Josh Hall and James Harry Hall officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens Maher, WV, with Ronny
Gillman Jr., Ronny Gillman Sr., Billy Gillman, Marty Hester, Norman David Hall II, and Jay
Hinkle serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Sunday and Monday night after 6PM at the Living Stone Church of God
with special services each night at 7 PM.

James Albert Smith, age 80, was born February 18, 1934, in Sidney,
KY, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the Compassionate Care
Center in Richmond, KY.
He was a long time resident of Turkey Creek, KY, and recently
moved to Richmond, KY.
Albert was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he proudly served his
country. He was a retired coal miner from Eastern Coal Company and
prior to working as a miner, he was known for his work on Volkswagen
cars. Albert was an active member of the Turkey Creek Old Regular
Baptist church, where he served as a deacon for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years; Genola Thomas Smith, three daughters; Donna Smith
Weed (Nelson) of Bowling Green, KY, Sandra Smith Heath (Steve) of Richmond, KY, and Jamie Smith Pinson (Tim) of Richmond, KY, five grandchildren; Shane Williamson (Jordan), Nathan Weed, Ashley Weed, Shawna Williamson and Zoey Pinson, one great granddaughter; Adelaide Williamson, two brothers; Danny Smith of Champaign, IL, and Ballard Smith Jr.(Andrea),
of Palm Bay, FL, and a host of church family and friends.
Albert was preceded in death by his father; Ballard Smith, his mother; Beulah Maynard
Smith, one brother; Willie Smith and one sister; Betty Lou Smith Guglechuck.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday January 6, 2015, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Hobart Hamilton, Richard Staton and Bobby Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery, Sidney, KY, with Barry Hager, Steve Heath, Tim Pinson, Nelson
Weed, Nathan Weed and Shane Williamson serving as pallbearers. John's Creek D.A.V. Chapter will conduct Military Graveside Services.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Monday night at the funeral home with special services at 7
PM.

Texie Stacy Young, 86, of Pikeville, Ky. formerly of Hardy, Ky. passed away Sunday evening, January 4, 2015, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Ky.
She was born May 10, 1928 at Hardy, KY, the daughter of the late Perry and Ollie May
Hunt. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Carl C. Stacy; her second husband,
John Young; brothers, Warren Hunt, Dennis Hunt and Secil Hunt; sisters, Nola Farley, Bonnie
Scott and Loetta Sanders and one grandson, Jack Stacy.
Texie was a homemaker and a Kentucky Colonel. She had also worked at the Belfry Senior
Citizens and Cantee's Department Store in Williamson, WV. She loved the Lord and was of the
Baptist Faith.
Survivors include her children, John Carl Stacy of Versailles, KY, Sharon Spears of Prestonsburg, KY, Jack Stacy of Stone, KY, and Laura Pinson of Pikeville, KY; a grandson she
raised, David Keith Ramey of Prestonsburg, KY; a brother, Jonah Fred Hunt of New Jersey;
nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 8, 2015, at 11 AM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Staton and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Hunt
Cemetery, Hardy, KY, with her grandsons, family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 - 9 PM Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home with special services Wednesday night at 7 PM with Joseph Crum officiating.

Louella Dean Elkins, 66, of Prestonsburg, Ky. passed away January 5, 2015, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center.
She was born October 11, 1948, at McVeigh, KY, the daughter of the late Charlie and
Frances Baker Edmiston.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Kyle Elkins of Prestonsburg, KY; daughters, Dena Rae
Stroud of Pinsonfork, KY and Tonya Jo (Mike) Church of Ransom, KY; sons, Deron Kyle
(Belinda) Elkins of Turkey Creek, KY and Denvy Chad (Rhonda) Elkins of Dana, KY; brother,
Tod (Brenda) Nunley of Morristown, TN; sister-in-laws, Libby Elkins of Pinsonfork, KY and
Audrey Jones Elkins of Somerset, KY; six grandchildren, Joseph Church, Aaron Stroud, Chase
Stroud, Kyle Elkins, Matthew Dickenson and Tori Dickenson; three great grandchildren, Lola

Virginia "Jenny" Evans, 67, of Lovely, Ky. passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at her residence.
She was born Februay 6, 1947, at Lovely, KY, the daughter of
the late Elijah and Arminta Jude Sartin. She was also preceded in
death by a sister, Bertha Rose.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Oppy Church of
God.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Charles Evans of
Lovely, KY; son, Charles Jr. (Connie) Evans of Lovely, KY; daughters, Charlotte (Eddie) Curry of Turkey Creek, KY, Lorene (Michael) Vance of Lenore, WV,
Latisha Gaye Evans (Johnny Browning) of Harts Creek, WV and Brandy Nicole (Ronald

away Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital.
She was born October 24, 1923, at Turkey Creek, KY, the daughter of the late Ken and Elzie Curry Reed. She was also preceded in
death by her first husband, John Patrick Miller Sr.; her second husband, John B. Cochran; brothers, G. C. Reed, Leroy "Cat" Reed, Bill
Reed, Sid Reed and Toy Reed; sisters, Salie Mullins, Artha "Tootsie"
Smith and Goldie Webb and one grandson, Brian "Chad" Miller.
Survivors include her son, John P. (Rita) Miller Jr. of Williamson,

Nancy Carol Smith, 72, of Williamson, WV, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born December 28, 1942, in Piqua, Ohio the daughter of the late
Casper D. and Viola Koeffer Herron. She was also preceded in death by one
sister, Jean Roessner and three brothers, Donnie, Marvin and Mike Herron.
Nancy had worked for several years at both Food City in South Williamson, KY, and Mingo Manor Nursing Home in Williamson, WV.
Survivors include four daughters, Debbie Smith of Williamson, WV,
Sherry (Bud) Dotson of McCarr, KY, Deanna (Robert) Scarberry of Turkey
Creek, KY, and Jennifer (Kieth) Johnson of Allen, KY; one son, Darrell
Gene Smith Jr. of Stone, KY; one sister, Sue Wright of Laura, Ohio; four brothers, Taryl (Terry) Herron of Covington, Ohio, Dewey Herron of Piqua, Ohio, Ted Herron of Piqua, Ohio and

Avery Davis, 63, of Williamson, WV passed away Sunday night, January
11, 2015, at his residence.
He was born March 10, 1951, the son of the late George Andrew and
Mishie Jane Coburn Davis. He was also preceded in death by a daughter,
Jennifer Lynn Davis; brother, William Luther Davis and a sister, Barbara
Jean Davis Hackney.
Avery was a disabled coal miner and a member of the Chattaroy Church
of God.
Survivors include his wife, Roxie Virginia Aldridge Davis of Williamson,
WV; daughter, Cathy Lynn Davis Preece of Pikeville, KY; sister, Connie
Collins of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Christian Tyler Preece, Madison Paige Preece and
Jayden Alexis Preece and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

2015, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV.
She was born August 9, 1936, at Ransom, Ky. the daughter of the late Roland and Grace
Isom Phillips. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at 11 AM at the Phillips

Arnold Lebron (Bron) Whitt, 75 of Forest Hills, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 13,
2015, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital.
He was born November 20, 1939, at Blackberry Creek, Kentucky, to the late Charlie and
Gardner Alley Whitt. He was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Whitt, brothers; Eddie
Whitt, Marshal Whitt, Dale Whitt and Paul Whitt, sisters, Joyce Compton and Lorraine Reed.
He was a retired coal miner and sign maker and a jack of all trades. He was willing to do anything for anyone always welcoming with his charming smile. He was a devoted member of the
Williamson Area Church of Christ. He shared his love for the Lord with everyone he met.
He is survived by his daughter; Joni (Tim) Hatfield of Turkey Creek, KY, son; David Whitt
of Pikeville, KY, brothers; Audley Whitt of Anna, OH, Ben (Elaine) Whitt of Proctorville, OH,
sister; Drema Kinder of Foster, WV, grandchildren; Haley and Carson Hatfield and a host of
nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Friday January 16, 2015, at 5 PM for the family and at 6 PM for the
public with the funeral service at 7 PM with Donnie Estep officiating at the Williamson Area
Church of Christ.
A private burial will be held at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY.

KY, passed away Sunday January 11, 2015, at her residence in MI.
She was born December 2, 1936, at Hardy, KY, to the late Bob and
Nancy Farley Lockard. She is also preceded in death by one niece, Becky
Coleman and one nephew, Robbie Taylor.
She was a former general foreman at General Motors, a florist and a
member of the Trenton Church of Christin MI.

Betty Jo Blankenship, 73, of Turkey Creek, KY, passed away
Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Betty was born October 5, 1941, at Turkey Creek, Ky. the daughter
of the late Willie and Maxie Curry. She was also preceded in death by a
brother, Tommy Curry and a special grandson, Kiren Blankenship.
Betty was a retired nurse aid having worked at the Appalachian Regional Hospital and the Williamson Memorial Hospital. She was a
member of the Gospel House Church at Taylorville, WV.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Blankenship Sr. of Turkey
Creek, KY; daughters, Elizabeth (Doug) Kennedy of Madison, WV, and
Rhonda (JimBo) May of Canada, KY; son, Earl Dewayne Blankenship of Turkey Creek, KY;

Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born October 5, 1941, at Matewan, WV, to the late Tom and Della Coleman Scott.
He was an owner of a mining supply company.
He is survived by five children; Dana Scott of Denver, CO, Jo Ann Scott of Portsmouth, OH,
Danny Thomas "Tommy" Scott of Forest Hills, KY, Robert Sean (Angela) Scott of Goshen,
OH, and Bridget Dawn Scott of Lexington, KY; three sisters; Brenda (Sherman) Young of Prestonsburg, KY, Marilyn (Shelley) Hensley of Belfry, KY, and Frances Scott of Sevierville, TN,
five grandchildren; Nicholas Salmons, Nakeisha Raine Salmons, Kirsten Ann Scott, Dominick
Sexton and Arianna Elizabeth Nicole Scott.

Charles Everett Bolen of Belfry, KY, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015, at the Signature Healthcare, Pikeville, KY.
Charles was born in Lynn, WV the son of the late John and Bonnie Bledsoe Bolen. He was
also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Adkins; brother, Kenny Bolen and an infant brother.
He was retired from the housekeeping department of the Williamson Appalachian Regional
Hospital and a member of the Leckieville Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Gale Stollings Bolen of Belfry, KY; sisters, Garnet Bolen of
Williamson, WV and Lois Paquette of MN; brothers, Roger Bolen of Dallas, Texas, William
Bolen and Frank Bolen of Columbus, Ohio and James Bolen of Piqua, Ohio and a host of other
family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 1 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral

Helen R. Swader, 88, of Williamson, WV, passed away Wednesday
January 21, 2015, at Trinity Healthcare after a lingering illness and a lifelong resident of Williamson.
She was born October 25, 1926, at Williamson, WV, to the late William H. "Hugh" Swader and Nora Mabes Swader. She was also preceded
in death by two sisters, Ethel V. Swader Barrett and Gladys Swader
Maynard, two brothers, Everett and Richard Swader.
She went to work straight out of high school at G. C. Murphy's where
she was an assistant manager at the time. She retired to care for her mother. She devoted her life to caring for her mother and father. Ms. Swader
was cared for in her later years by her niece, Barbara Barrett Smith. Her hobbies included bowling, movies and playing bingo. She was active in woman's sports during her high school years
and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by one sister, Frances Swader Barrett of FL, and several nieces, nephews,
great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Saturday, January 24, 2015, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Roger Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory
Gardens, Huddy, KY, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6 PM Thursday and Friday night at the funeral home.

Juanita Cowden Waskey, 95, of Pikeville, KY, formerly of Stone, KY, passed away
Wednesday January 21, 2015, at Cedar Creek Assisted Living, Pikeville, KY.
She was born February 8, 1919 at McVeigh, KY, to the late Lindsey Joseph and Rose
Bethuram Cowden. She is also preceded in death by her husband; Joseph G. Waskey, whom she
married on May 17, 1947, and one brother; Elmer Clyde Cowden.
She was a secretary at Ford Motor Company, Stone, KY, and Eastern Coal Company in the
Safety Department. She was a graduate of Belfry High School and Bowling Green Business
College. For many years, she was a faithful and active member of the Stone United Methodist
Church and in recent years enjoyed membership at the First Presbyterian Church of Williamson.
She is survived by her niece; Margaret Ann Cowden of Greenport, NY, special friends; Dora
Gilliam of Forest Hills, KY, and Cora Allara of Johnson City, TN, and a host of loving family
and friends.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until 11 AM Saturday, January 24, 2015, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with the funeral service being held at 11 AM with Rick Hisle officiating. Burial
will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY, with family and friends serving as
pallbearers.

and Mae McCoy. She is also preceded in death by her husband; Frank
Robinette, son; Donnie Franklin Robinette, daughter; Patricia Robinette, grandson; Keith Cochran, son-in-law; Gary Cochran, four brothers and one sister.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Belfry Freewill Baptist
Church.
She is survived by four daughters; Karen Cochran May of Lascassas, TN, Debbie (Bo) Sloan
of Smyrna, TN, Vicki (Gary) Arnold of Bristol, TN, and Shelia (Doug) Bamforth of Alexandria, KY, three sons; Larry (Kris) Robinette of Fort Gay, WV, Rick (Suzanne) Robinette of
Williamson, WV, and Bill Robinette of Murfreesboro, TN, sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great
grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends.

Wednesday January 28, 2015, at Trinity Healthcare, Williamson, WV.
He was born September 28, 1928, at Branchland, WV to the late Arnold and Lulu Adkins Franklin. He is also preceded in death by one
brother, Jay Franklin.
He retired after serving for 20 years in the U. S. Air Force, 10 years in
the Secret Service and 10 years in the Sheriff's Department in Florida. He
was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Williamson, WV,
President of the United Methodist Men, Historian for the Church and
Representative for the Parrish.
He is survived by his wife, Lou Anna Lowe Franklin, children, David Robert Franklin of

Osie was October 6, 1925, the daughter of the late Alvin and Truly
Maynard Bowling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas
Mills Sr. as well as two sons, Robert Bruce Mills and Jerry Michael Mills,
two sisters, Chloe Jenkins and Maggie Frazier and a brother, Dallas Bowling.
Osie worked many years as a cook at the Tug Valley Country Club, and
the Moose and Elk Lodges of Williamson, WV. She was also a member of
the Calvary Baptist Church of Williamson, WV.
She is survived by two children, Thomas (Eloise) Mills Jr. of Hardy, KY., and Janice (Jack)
Repass of Wake Forest, NC. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Mary (Irv) Miles, Paul

Gladys Marie Hatfield, age 96, of Ransom, KY, passed away peacefully
on February 6, 2015, at her home.
She was born on July 21, 1918, on Dials Branch, Ransom, KY, the
daughter of the late Jordan and Ira Melinda Hager. On April 27, 1937,
Gladys was happily married to the late James Lucas "Luke" Hatfield, a union, which lasted 44 years.
A devoted mother, Gladys also held various career positions in her life,
including assisting her husband at the Ransom, KY Post Office for 40
years. She enjoyed various sales opportunities, owned and operated Hatfield's Boutique in Matewan, WV and enjoyed many public service opportunities. Gladys was an active member of the community and loved making a difference in people's lives. She was a strong-minded lady who took wonderful care of her family. Gladys enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, cooking and especially music. She attended Freewill Baptist
Church and loved singing gospel songs. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving
family. "Granny Gladys" will be remembered most for her beautiful smile, her spirit of adventure, and her strength of character.

2015, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born April 27, 1949, in Waynesburg, PA, the son of the late
Thomas John and Margaret Daugherty Belford. He was also preceded in
death by his brothers, Bill, D.A. and Tom Belford; his sister, Linda Belford;
mother and father-in-law, John and Marie Pecco Ball and his brother-in-laws,
Lonnie Belford and Robert Ball.
He worked for the N. & S. Railroad for 28 years. He loved kidding his sister-in-laws about who was his favorite one and each time he saw one of them
he would change his favorite to that one. He loved to act a fool with all the
kids and they did to him, also. It was his life to be with them on Sunday. He was a member of
the Sharondale Church of Christ and he loved to go to church and to play BINGO.

He was born September 23, 1949, at Sidney, KY, the son of the late Bailey and Lola Hinkle
Hager.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Pearly Jane Hager and a brother, G. B. Hager.
Dennis formerly worked for the highway department and was a member of the Big Creek

Mark Alan Ray, 53, of Hardy, KY, passed away surrounded by
FAMILY and loved ones on March 12, 2015 at ARH hospital in South
Williamson, KY.
Mark was born August 12, 1961, in Williamson, WV. Mark was the
son of Harles and Janice Ray of Hardy, KY. He is preceded in death
by his maternal grandparents, Bud and Jeanette Triplett and paternal
grandparents, Enois and Elmay Ray.
Mark married the love of his life, "his Pam Bo", on November 27,
1981, and was later blessed with his son and best friend Mark Alan
Ray II on October 24, 1983. Mark was saved and baptized at the Belfry United Methodist Church in 1984. He was the head drummer in the Belfry Band while in
high school and graduated from BHS in 1979 and attended Bluesprings Freewill Baptist
Church.
Mark Ray had a love for life like no other. Everybody he came in contact with loved Mark.
He was one of a kind.
Mark is survived by his parents, Janice and Harles Ray, the love of his life Pam, son Mark
and his fiancé' Christina Vaughn. One brother, Michael (Tammy) Ray, sisters and brother in
laws, who he thought of more as sisters and brothers, include, Cuba (James) Varney, Diane
(Ronnie) Hall, Rosletta (Chuck) Maynard, Carolyn (Ronnie) Williams, Mildred (Gary) Scott,
Christine (Johnny) Anderson, Michael, Leo and Mark Thacker and a host of nieces, nephews,
great nieces and great nephews. "Those children" held a very special place in Mark's heart and
loved ones.

Mr. David Bruce Pauley, 59, of Forest Hills, Ky. and Detroit, Mi.
died Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Botsford Hospital, Farmington,
Michigan.
Born February 1, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the
late Frank and Mary Lou Pinson Pauley.
He graduated from Southwestern High School in Detroit in 1973 and
went on to work for General Motors for several years as a machinist. He
also held jobs in maintenance, janitorial services and security. While
living in Kentucky he was a volunteer in the Belfry Fire Department. He
was also a member of the Masons and the NRA.
Bruce was a loving father with a great sense of humor. He had a silliness about him that
made others laugh. His sense of curiosity and appreciation for antiques led him to many adventures as he'd often go "junkin", check out resale shops, and help others as they cleaned out
their attics. He brought many treasures home after these outings.
Bruce is survived by his son, David Bruce Pauley of Dearborn Heights, MI; brothers Dannie
Cooper (Kathy) Pauley of Farmington Hills, Michigan and Dwight Andrew (Nora) Pauley of
Forest Hills, KY, and a host of nephews, family and friends.

Monday night, March 23, 2015, our beloved son, brother, daddy, partner and friend left this earthly life to begin a heavenly one. Terry Wayne
Cochran, age 58, of Speedwell. Tennessee (formerly of Belfry, Ky) died
suddenly of complications of pneumonia.
Terry was born September 19, 1956, to Herman and Patricia Stacy
Cochran of Belfry, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frances
Brown and Hubert Stacy and his paternal grandparents, Harrison and
Magalene Cochran and his precious mother, Patricia.
Terry was a 1975 graduate of Belfry High School where he excelled in
football. He was an avid fisherman and loved living on the lake. He also enjoyed watching the
Kentucky Wildcats. He loved being with his family and friends.
Left behind to mourn his passing are his father, Herman, his daughter, Beth (Chris) Blackburn of McAndrews, Ky., and son, Caleb (Sabrina) Cochran of McCarr, Ky. "Papa" Terry
leaves three grandchildren, Jake and Molly Blackburn and Joshua Cochran. Two brothers, Mike
(Irene) Cochran and Randy Cochran, both of Belfry,Ky. Heartbroken and saddened by the loss
is his special life partner, Bobbi Blackburn and their precious dog, Margie. Also left to mourn
his loss is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
It was Terry's wish to be cremated and to have his remains stay at the place he loved most,
his house at Norris Lake. A celebration of Terry's life will begin Friday, March 27, 2015, at 6
pm at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with his friends speaking special words and giving the eulogy

Audrey Lynn Blackburn, 28, came into this world as
an angel on February 3, 1987, with curly blonde hair,
those stunning blue eyes, and a smile that was so infectious she made everyone smile. Her love and compassion
were evident with everyone she met, even if she only
knew you for a short amount of time. All who met her say
the same. The impact that she made on people will stay
with them a lifetime.
Audrey was a 2005 graduate from Pikeville High
School. In 2010, she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree
in English from Columbia University in New York. She was just getting ready to complete her
Masters Degree in English from Long Island University in New York.
She was employed with WyzAnt Tutoring, Teaching, and Coaching children. In 2012-2014,
she was a Special Education Teacher. Audrey stated that she enjoyed working with the "beautiful people". She also directed a play, which she said she loved and found it to be "utterly fundamental".
She tried to live her life carefree and happy. She had the opportunity to go to Europe where
she backpacked for almost a year experiencing adventure and making friends that she still remained in contact with and went for another visit the following year.
Audrey is gone from this place that we call life but will now experience a new life that will
allow her to have even greater adventure, love, and happiness. Preceding her in death is her
mother, Kathy Casey Blackburn, her Maternal Grandparents, Willis and Ruby Miller Casey,
and her Paternal Grandfather, Eddie Blackburn.
Those left behind to celebrate her life and memory is her Dad and Stepmom, Rick and Lesia
Blackburn, her Special Aunt and Uncle, Sissy Karen and Dennis Mills, and two brothers, Brett
(Ashley) Cline, and Loren Swarz. In addition, are her grandmothers, Jean Boren and Carol Ball,
several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and two Special Cousins that she was very close to, especially
in childhood, Chris and Keith Mills. Also celebrating her life and memory are the many friends
that she accumulated along her life's journey that meant so very much to her.

of the Aflex Baptist Church.

was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty and brother, Darrell. She was retired from Lucent
Technology after 34 years of service.

Bernice Luella Ford, 75, of Williamson, WV passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015, at
Kings Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, KY.
Bernice was born April 27, 1939, the daughter of the late James Walter Edward and Adele
Little Ford Sr. in Williamson, WV.
She was also preceded in death by her two daughters Deborah Youvonne Tingben and Susan
Renae Ford as well as two brothers, James Walter Edward Ford Jr., Willis B. Howie and a sister, Ella Mae Hatley.
Bernice was a homemaker and a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. She also served as
the secretary for the Save Our Strays Organization.
Bernice is survived by her three sons, Walter Eugene (Kendra) Ford Sr., James Arthur Ford
both of Williamson, WV, and Robert Lee (Elizabeth) Ford of Huntington, WV. She also leaves
behind a several friends, Marcella Woods, Mentola Jackson, Teresa Tucker, Vicki Lipps, Claudine White, Gaye Dotson, Mrs. Rhodes, Barbara Wells, Linda Griffin Sister Vera Wright and
Vonn Wilkerson.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 1, 2015, beginning at Noon at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, KY with Ricky Wilkerson officiating.

a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the Spring Creek Health Care Center, Murray, Kentucky.
Mrs. Scott was born August 9, 1921, in Blackberry, Kentucky to the late Henry & Bertha
Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fayette Scott.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

He was born March 1, 1934, at Pigeon Roost, KY, to the late Ran and
Betty Howell Marcum.
He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Shelby Stacy, sister,
Desimae Marcum and brothers, Harlan, Gabe, Granville, Homer, Tan,
Laddie, Freeland, Harvey and Buddy Marcum.
He was a retired coalmine electrician and a member of the Mary Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Jones Marcum of Hatfield,

Lord, Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Tug Valley Regional Medical Center.
She was born August 6, 1925, at Hardy, KY, the daughter of the late
George and Margie Williamson Stanley. She was also preceded in death
by her husband, Fred Varney; the father of her children, Clifford Johnson;
one son, Glenn Terry Johnson; two grandsons, Douglas Ray and Joel
Johnson; sisters, Elsie Rose, Nellie Stanley and Lizzie Stanley; brother,
Eldon Stanley and other siblings who died at birth, Rell, Clell, N.D. and
Lydia Jane Stanley.
Maxine was the former owner and operator of Hardy Supermarket. She was also a member of the Toler Freewill Baptist Church and kept her faith in her Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ.
Survivors include her children, Brenda Ray of VanWert, Ohio, Patricia Dotson of Palm
Coast, FL, Donna Miller of Wise, VA and Jeffery Johnson of Roanoke, VA; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild and a host of other loving family

May 3, 2015, in the Pikeville Medical Center Emergency Room.
He was born September 14, 1961, at South Williamson, KY, the son
of the late Douglas M. Gooslin Sr. and Cuzzie Wallace Gooslin. He was
also preceded in death by a host of brothers and sisters.
He was a disabled coal miner.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Patterson Gooslin of McCarr, KY;

May 7, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born July 28, 1935, at Toler, KY, to the late Grover and
Opal Murphy Staton. He is also preceded in death by one brother,
Curtis Staton.
Harry was a schoolteacher for the Pike County Board of Education
for 42 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Forest
Hills and a member of the Belfry High School Hall of Fame as well
as keeping the clock for Belfry Football games for 56 years.
He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Staton Maynard of Springtown, TN. Also surviving him are his nieces, Lisa Carlyle of Springtown, TN, Annie Staton,
Mandy Staton and Betsy Kamer, all of Columbus, OH. He leaves behind his grandson in spirit,
Reese Varney of Forest Hills, KY, aunt, Mildred Wayt of Lexington, KY and cousins, Linda
and Frank Brown of Lexington, KY as well as special friends, Rod, Janet and Kerri Varney of
Forest Hills, KY, and a host of loving friends.

It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the passing of
Elbert Heston Rose, who passed on Friday, May 15th in his home surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Elbert was born February 10, 1946, in Pike County, Kentucky. He
was the son of Heston "Bud" Rose and Mary Ellen Rose.
Elbert spent most of his life in Pike County, where he spent his free
time plotting an escape to some lake... ANY lake, to chase walleye.
Elbert worked for Norfolk & Southern Railroad from 1973 to 2007.
He retired in 2007 as an engineer. After his retirement, he spent more
time chasing walleye as well as devoting his time to the youth of the Big
Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
Elbert served proudly in the Second 319th Artillery 82nd Airborne. He laid it all on the line
for his country in the Dominican Republic and the Vietnam War.
Elbert was preceded in death by his father, Heston "Bud" Rose, his Mother, Mary Ellen
Rose, his biological mother, Susan J. Meade and his beloved brothers, George Robert Rose and
Joseph Franklin Meade.
Elbert is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Phyllis Jean (Justice) Rose. His children,
Beckie Rose, Amber (Rose) Burchett, and James Heston Rose and his six adoring grandchildren; Kerrigan, Abigayle, Mathew, Jette, Carly and Bella. His brothers, Herman Rondal Rose
and Alfred Wayne Meade. His precious sisters, Nyoka Stanley Baker and Vivian Sue Rose. A
host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles that he loved very much. He is also survived
by his uncle, who was much like a father to him and grandfather to his children, Paul Derossett.
I would be remiss if I didn't let you know that Elbert Rose loved Jesus very much and Jesus
loved him. It would be his eternal wish that you would all come to know Jesus and meet him in
Heaven someday.
Services will be held at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home at Belfry, Kentucky. Visitation will be
May 17th and May 18th beginning at 7 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at
11 AM, May 19th with burial to follow at the family cemetery, fondly named the "Rose Garden" by Elbert himself.

loved ones Thursday, May 21, 2015, following a brief illness.
She was born January 30, 1921, at Stone, KY, the daughter of the late
James Calvin and Cuzzie (Marcum) Hunt. She was also preceded in death
by her husband of sixty-two years, George M. Helm; four brothers and
five sisters.
She was a lifelong member of the McAndrews Wesleyan Church and a
loving wife, mother and sister.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Caryn Helms of Forest Hills,
KY; a double niece, Rheta H. Mills of Inez, KY; three brothers, Thomas

Ruth Cole Smith, of Ransom, KY, passed away Saturday, May 23,
2015, at the Pikeville Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth was born at Hazard, KY, the daughter of the late James and
Pearlie Wells Cole. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Loraine Cole, Ruby Osborne, Thelma Morris and Launa Sutton Cole and
four brothers, Junior Cole, William "Bill" Cole, Elmer Cole and J. B.
Cole.
Ruth was a graduate of Hazard High School, Lee's Junior College at
Jackson, KY and Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, KY. She
taught six years at Leatherwood Elementary School in Hazard and worked
thirty -one years as a teacher and librarian for the Pike County Board of Education at Blackberry and Runyon Elementary Schools. She was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma International, Belfry Homemaker's Club, Williamson Women's Club, EKEA, KEA and National Retired Teachers Association. Ruth loved her church and was a member of the Bluesprings
Freewill Baptist Church.
More than anything Ruth was a devoted Mother and Nana, who shared an extremely close
relationship with her daughter, Launa and grandson, Cole.
Survivors include her husband, Francis J. Smith, whom she would have been married to for
53 years on May 31, 2015; daughter, Frances Launa Smith Stanley and her husband, Carl of
Forest Hills, KY; grandson, Ethan Cole Stanley of Forest Hills, KY; special second daughter,
Teresa Sutton Thacker and her husband, David of Island Creek, KY; special granddaughters,
Megan and Madison Thacker and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Toler, KY, died Friday, May 22, 2015, at the University of Kentucky
Medical Center.
She was born October 12, 1955, in Silay City, Philippines, the
daughter of Ricardo and Nadja Cuaycong of Las Vegas, NE.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Quinton Elkins.
Becky was raised in Butler, New Jersey, and then moved to Toler,
KY, where she raised her family. She then relocated to Nicholasville,
KY, where she worked for UK Healthcare. She was a graduate of Belfry
High School and Marshall University. She taught at the University of
Kentucky and was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Nicholasville. She loved spending time with her family, crafting and was an avid UK basketball fan.
Other survivors include her son, Chris, (Lauren) Elkins of Versailles, KY; daughters, Jeanna
(Josh) Hatfield of Toler, KY, and Whitney Elkins of Lexington, KY; her siblings, Mary Jean
Cuaycong, Josephine (Scott) Duncan, Rick Cuaycong and Robert (Maria) Cuaycong; her six
grandchildren, Jordan, Kylie and Elliot Elkins, Quinton, Ryan and J. J. Hatfield and another

Eddie was born June 13, 1960, the son of the late Chester and Mary Stanley Church. He was
also preceded in death by his sisters, Debbie Church, Becky Church, Yvonne Church and Betty
Church.
Eddie worked as an iron worker in a steel mill for most of his life, belonging to the Local #1
Union of Chicago, IL. He was also a member of the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church of
Ransom, KY
Eddie is survived by his children, Eddie Dean Church Jr. of Carrollton, KY and Catrina
Church of Cloveport, KY. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Dalton Nottingham,
Heavynne Church, Christine Church, Emma Church, Haylee McCoy and Wyatt McCoy. Eddie

Samuel Walter Randolph, 56, of Belfry, KY, died June 2nd, 2015, at the
VA Hospital in Huntington, WV.
He was born September 15th, 1958, in Columbus, OH to James Auvol
Randolph and Annie Irene Dibble Randolph.
Samuel was a US Navy veteran, having served 6 years for his country.
He was a 1976 graduate of Williamson High School before graduating from
Marshall University with a Business Degree. He was an engineer for the
Norfolk and Southern Railroad from 1987 to 2015. Samuel was a Christian
and an active member of the Turkey Creek Free Will Baptist Church. In his
spare time, he enjoyed researching family genealogy and spending time with
his loved ones.
Samuel was preceded in death by his father, James Auvol Randolph; mother, Annie Irene
Dibble Randolph; his beloved sisters, Maude Marie Randolph and June Gail Randolph Browning.
Samuel is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Evelyn Bevins Randolph; children: Jessica Ann Randolph of Williamson, WV and Samantha Dawn Randolph (Teddy) Poore of Lexington, KY; two grandsons, Elijah Thomas White and one due in August; his brother James Clinton Randolph of Turkey Creek, KY and sister Irene (Mike) Cochran of Belfry, KY. Samuel is
also survived by the mother of his children, Nancy Ann Curry of Parkers Lake, KY.
Sam loved the Lord with all his heart, soul and mind and his greatest desire was to reflect
Christ's love to his family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 6 pm with services at 7 pm Thursday June 4 th, at RE Rogers Funeral
Home at Belfry, KY.
Funeral services will be conducted at Turkey Creek Free Will Baptist Church, Friday, June

2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born August 9, 1948, at Stone, KY, the son of the late Robert
Ooten Jr. and Gladys Ball Ooten. He was also preceded in death by two
brothers, Robert Wilson Ooten and Jimmy Ooten and a brother-in-law,
Earsel "Bunk" May.
Larry was a retired school teacher, having taught at Washington County
High School, Springfield, KY, and Mackville Elementary School. He held
various positions throughout the educational system. He was also a floral
designer and artist. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Williamson, WV and had attended the Stone United Methodist Church for several years also.
Survivors include his sister, Margaret O. May of Stone, KY; nieces, Rebecca (Jim) Garrison

Susanne Adkins Higgins, 88, of Toler, KY, passed away Friday,
June 12, 2015, at the Concord Health and Rehabilitation Center in
Wheelersburg, OH.
Susanne was born March 19, 1927, the daughter of the late Basil
and Martha Napier Adkins. Susanne was also preceded in death by
her husband, George Clinton Higgins.
Susanne was a member of the Forest Hills Baptist Church and
worked as a postmaster for the U. S. Postal Service for many years.
She is survived by her two sons, Greg C. (Elaine) Higgins of
Portsmouth, OH and Eddie (Cathy) Higgins of Toler, KY. She also
leaves behind her grandchildren, Shad Whitt of Portsmouth, OH, Nikki (Phillip) Hammond of
Wheelersburg, OH and Bradley C. (Leah) Higgins of Portsmouth, OH as well as step grandsons, Barry and Corey Hatfield. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law,
Bert and Charlotte Higgins and ten great-grandchildren along with a host of other loving family
and friends.

11, 1963, at Williamson, WV the son of the late Joe Edward and Wilma Nell
McCoy Hatfield. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Albert
Keesee.
Jeff was a CPA, member of the Pikeville Rotary Club, Past President of
the Pike County Chamber of Commerce, an Alumnus of the University of
Kentucky and an avid UK fan and cruiser. He was a faithful member of the
Stone United Methodist Church, where he blessed his congregation with his
beautiful voice.

home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the
Parkview Nursing Home in Pikeville, Kentucky.
She was born April 16, 1926, at Canada, Kentucky the
daughter of the late James Ballard and Mazie Blackburn.
She was a member of the Belfry Freewill Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 58 years, Ermal
Deskins; a daughter-in-law, Linda Deskins and a granddaughter,
Alexis Grace Deskins.
Surviving are her three children, Jackie (Donna) Deskins of
Pinsonfork, KY, Janet (Rod) Varney of Forest Hills, KY and Jerry Deskins of Sidney, KY. She
was a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and three great
great grandchildren. Also surviving are five brothers and sisters, Arminda Stanley of Sunbury,

her second husband, Joe Jerry Howell. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Ralph and

special love for horses.

her life of service on July 7, 2015, at Signature Healthcare of Pikeville,
Ky.
She was born May 27,1919, at Roadfork, Ky, the daughter of the late
Joseph and Betty (Collins) Chapman. She was married on May 18, 1937,
and enjoyed 45 years with her husband, Floyd Blackburn. She was preceded in death by three (3) sisters, Quanita Harshburger, Gladys Rose,
Mary Jane Sandifer, and four (4) brothers, William "Frankie", Hillard,
Arnold and Clarence Chapman.
Survivors include, a daughter, Betsy (Clyde) James of Canada, Ky.
Grandson, David Lell (Tia) James of Winchester, Ky, Floyd Michael (Belinda) James of Canada, Ky, granddaughter, Shelley Marie James of Canada, Ky, two great-grandsons, Jacob and
Collin James and one great- grandaughter, Chloe Marie Kelley. One living sister, Sarah
Neilson of Orville, Ohio, and one brother Joseph (Helen) Chapman of Canada, Ky. One special
niece, Sheila (Ralph) Stepp, Chad and Stephanie, and Jason Chapman.
Bertha only went through the sixth grade; she had to leave school at a very young age to help
with the chores around the house. She then met her late husband, Floyd Blackburn, and married
in 1937. Soon after she married, her loving husband was drafted to WWII. While he was in active duty, she began her journey as "Rosie the Riveter." As a crane Operator, Bertha filled locomotive cars with battery water for Republic Steel. After three years of hard work and dedication, she came home to raise her beautiful daughter "Betsy". While being a loving mother and
wife she started a 15-year career at Stronsinider Drug Store as a Fountain Manager. Bertha is
proud to be a caring, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. When she wasn't
working, her favorite past time was gardening in her many flower beds. She was a member of
The Big Creek Freewill Baptist Church where she faithfully served the Lord throughout her life
for 45 years. Bertha will live forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
The Lord called Bertha to her heavenly home where she is now resting High on the Mountain.

14, 2015.
He was born September 1, 1920, at Heisey, KY. He was the son of the
late Ireland and Annie (Kennedy) Stepp. He was preceded in death by
two sisters; Thelma and Ethel Mae; six brothers, Mont, Charles, Irvin,
David, Jonah and Oscar; one half-sister, Sophie; three half-brothers,
Arlie, Carlie and Ira and a great granddaughter, Alexa Deskins. Surviving
is one sister, Doris Green of Sidney, KY.
Rudolph was a retired foreman from the Pike County Board of Education transportation department. He was the oldest living member and trustee emeritus of the Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church, at Sidney, KY.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Ann (Gugelchuk) Stepp; three children, Geraldine

He was born at John's Creek, Ky. on September 22, 1921, to Ella Varney Bostic and Leonard Bostic who preceded him in death. He was also
preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Edna Bostic; one daughter, Judi
Wallace; one granddaughter, Mikerry Stanley; six brothers, Claude, Floyd,
Clyde, John, Henry, George and one sister, Marie Adams.
He is survived by one son, Buddy (Diane) Bostic of Pikeville, KY and

Quinnie Workman of Kokomo, IN; thirteen grandchildren, Devonna (Keith) Stratton, Robyn

(Star) Wallace, Leslie (Daniel) Carter, Ashlie (John) Yates, Kristin (Matt) DeBoard, Cliff (Angie) Wallace, Beth (Jonathan) Wright, Ryan Bostic and Robbi-Ann Brewer. He also leaves behind 20 beloved great-grandchildren, a very special friend, Joanna Copley and a host of loving

He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved having his family
around him. He was a self-employed trucker and owner of Bostic's Trucking Co. He was a
World War II Army veteran and a Kentucky Colonel. After his retirement, he dedicated his time
to working in his garden. He was a member of the Chattaroy Missionary Baptist Church and a
former member and deacon of the Stone Baptist Church.
Services will be held Friday, July 17, at 1 PM at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with
his brother, Pastor W. L. Bostic officiating. Burial will follow at the Bostic Family Cemetery at

Mary "Mag"aline Hatfield Dotson, age 96, of Ransom, KY went
to her heavenly home on August 4, 2015 at 1:15 p.m. at Pikeville
Medical Center.
She was born on October 18, 1918, however she celebrated her
birthday as November 12. We were blessed that she was born to the
late Albert and Elzie Hatfield also of Ransom, KY.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. She
was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis Dotson,
whom she loved so very much and celebrated 68 years together. Her
sons, infant son Larry Gilford, Charles "BoJo", Wendell "Wilkie" and
Eugene Dotson. Her daughter in law, Shirley West Dotson, whom she thought of as her own,
and her grandson, Clinton "Little Butch" McCoy.
She is survived by her sons, Burl (Glenna Mae) and Dwight (Kelley) Dotson of Ransom, Ky.
Her daughters, Helen Dotson, Lola Mae McCoy, Gail (Eugene) Gibbs all of Ransom, Ky. and
Janet Flo (Larry) Scott of Whitesburg, KY. Her grandson Joey Dotson made his home with her,
and she thought of him as her own, her "Joe". Her daughter-in-laws, Martha Dotson of Ransom,
KY and Margaret "Annie" Dotson of Bristol, TN, also survive. She had 21 Grandchildren, 33
Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren whom she loved dearly and thought of all
of them as her own. She is also survived by her sister, Beatrice Hager of Ransom, Ky.
She was a member of the Samaria Primitive Baptist Church for 65 years and the oldest active senior at the Blackberry/McCarr Senior Citizens. She loved going to church and seeing all
her church family and worshipping The Lord. She loved her Jesus. She lived everyday of her
life to visit her friends and family at the senior center. She looked forward to going each week.
She participated until 2014 in the senior games and won several gold medals. She also loved her
family and anyone that came to visit her. She made sure that you were fed before you left. She
always said, she loved everybody and that was what it was all about, Love, and it showed cause
lots of people would call her their second mommy. She will be truly missed by all that knew
her.

Peirce was the former Director of the Williamson Park Board; he worked for the Mingo
County B.O.E. and the City of Williamson for 37 years; he was the co-owner of Starters Restaurant for 21 years; a member of the Elks Lodge; Moose Lodge; a veteran of the U.S. Army
and of the Baptist Faith.

James Ken Stanley, 74, of Stratton Fork, Canada, KY went home to be with the Lord on
Monday, August 17, 2015, at the Tug Valley Regional Medical Center.
He was born November 27, 1940 at Sidney, KY the son of the late Kenner and Grace Blackburn Stanley. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Darrell Eddie Stanley and Conal
Stanley.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA Local Union 1440 and Belfry Freewill
Baptist Church.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Patty Smith Stanley; three daughters, Debbie
Gannon (Jerry) Bevins of McCarr, KY, Mary Wallace of Canada, KY and Pam Estepp Martin
of White Pine, TN; three sisters, Lois (Greg) Walker of Myrtle Beach, SC, Barbara (Joe) Adkins of Pikeville, KY and Brenda (Billy) Pinson of Sidney, KY; grandchildren, James Estepp,
Zachary Wallace, Brandi Stanley, Kerigan Estepp and Krislyn Stanley; great granddaughter,
Kailie Stanley and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015 beginning at 11 AM at the R.E.
Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Varney officiating. Burial will follow at the Smith

Harrison Davis Varney, 90, of Forest Hills, KY, passed away
Wednesday August 19, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born November 4, 1924, at Forest Hills, KY, to the late
John and Merica Stanley Varney. He is also preceded in death by
his wife Joyce Estelle Stanley Varney; son, Kevin Varney, sisters,
Gladys Wellman and Nancy Laudermilk and brothers, Oscar Varney and Earl Varney.
He was a former partner of Williamson Supply Company, a
Kentucky Colonel, former Member and Deacon of Stone Baptist
Church, a member of Belfry Freewill Baptist Church and a veteran
of the US Army serving in WW II.
He is survived by two sons, Steven D. Varney of Forest Hills, KY and Brian K. Varney of
Lexington, KY. One brother, Clifford Varney of Forest Hills, KY, special friend, Wilma Cassell
of Forest Hills, KY, and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Sunday August 23, 2015, at R. E. Rogers Funeral Home with Donald Varney and Chris Varney officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain
View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY, with Okey Porter, Earl Varney Jr., Todd Cassell, Mike

He was born May 11, 1939, in Chicago, IL the son of the late Edward and Mildred Whaling Olszanowski. He was also preceded in
death by a brother, William Tomsovic.
Joe was a former manger for a golf course and a veteran of the
United State Air Force.

WV passed away Friday, August 28, 2015.
He was born August 2, 1945, at Laurel Creek, Lenore, WV, the son of the
late Erva and Orie Jude Maynard. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Paulie Muncy, Ethel Adkins and Lucille Ginther.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of the United Mine Workers of
America, United States Army, and a member of the Joyland Baptist Church in
Berea, KY.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Wellman Maynard; son, Luther P. "Luke"
Maynard and his wife, Amy of South Williamson, KY; daughters, Rhonda
Hensley and Zandra Ford and her husband, Chris all of Big Rock, TN; step children, Tammy

away Sunday, September 13, 2015, at the Pikeville Medical Center,
Pikeville, KY.
Rebecca was born August 21, 1929, the daughter of the late Kenneth
and Elisa Reed. She is also preceded in death by her first husband,
Leroy Kazee and her second husband Willie Runyon as well as five
brothers and four sisters. Rebecca was a member of the Turkey Creek
Old Regular Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Denise) Kazee of Turkey
Creek, KY, Drema Kazee of Florida and Michael (Christine) Kazee of
Michigan. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Jennifer (Christopher) Bastian, Amber
(Michael) Lowe, Randall (Brittney) Kazee and Drema Kazee, along with ten greatgrandchildren, Dillon, Aiden, Makenzie, Gage, Isabella, Aubrey, Tyson, Sophia, Hailey and

WV, at the age of 61, on September 28, 2015.
Larry, is predeceased by his father, Noah Collins of Jamboree,
KY; his mother and stepfather, Macie and Emory Moore of Delbarton, WV; two sisters, Phillys Collins and Ruby Moore and three
brothers, H. D. Moore, Charlie Moore and Gus Moore.
Larry is survived by four sisters, Geneva Runyon (Leroy) of Delbarton, WV, Bonnie Adkins (Donnie) of Barboursville, WV, Lois
Moore of Delbarton, WV and Faye Moore Meadows of Lorain,
Ohio; one brother, Reece Moore (Debbie) of Ragland, WV; his wife, Linda Slone Collins of
Johns Creek, KY. Larry is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Sheila Collins Long (Jason)
of Forest Hills, KY and Crystal Collins of Matewan, WV and niece, Monique Moore Tevis
(Brian) of Sante Fe, New Mexico. He also had nine grandchildren, Kaley, Cristian, Cayden, Ian,
Alex, Olivia, Bennett, Ashton Jace and Nevaeh and many nieces and nephews.
Larry was born at the Magnolia Hospital of Matewan, WV, on September 29, 1953. He attended school at Delbarton, WV. He then went on to own and operate various businesses in the
Tug Valley area. Larry enjoyed antique cars, card playing and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.
Larry will be sadly missed by special friends; Delbert Justice, Lacy and Keri Muncy, Darren
Muncy, Judy Hamrick and Helen Stanley.

night, October 11, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born July 31, 1929, at Varney, WV the daughter of the
late Green and Ida Deboard Justice. She was also preceded in
death by brothers, Bobby Justice and Opal Burke and a sister,
Aileen Neilson.
Dimple was a retired beautician and a member of the Varney
Church of God. She loved entertaining her friends as well as cooking and everyone loved her rum cake. She especially enjoyed her
trips to her favorite restaurant, Pekings, where Connie and her
staff treated her as a special friend as well as their guest. Her sunroom was her special place.

Earl was born February 4, 1926, at Kermit, WV the son of the late Preston
Howard Sr. and Pearl Kirk Copley. He was also preceded in death by three
brothers, Preston Howard Jr., Don Howard and Larry Howard and one sister,
Evelyn Banfield.
Earl was a retired coal miner from Island Creek #25 and Sycamore Coal
Co. He was a member of the UMWA, the Williamson Shrine Club and Chattaroy Church of God. He was an avid Williamson Wolfpack fan and the
scorekeeper for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Grace Harmon Howard of Chattaroy, WV;

Navarre, FL. Three sisters, Nadine (Mark) Webb of Sidney, KY,
Marsha (Bill) Lowe of Meta, KY, and Melissa (Kelvin) Lewis of Pikeville, KY. Two grandchildren, Kaylin Bryant and Drew Bryant and a host of loving family and friends.

Ronald Delmar Edwards, 67, of Canada, KY passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at the
Pikeville Medical Center.
Ronald was born August 1, 1948, at Leeco, KY the son of the late Delmar and Gertrude
Smyth Edwards.
Ronald worked as a purchasing agent for Sidney Coal for many years and for the Pikeville
City Fire Department for 12 years. Ronald was a member of the Rogers Missionary Baptist
Church, Rogers, KY. He also served in the United States Navy. Ronald loved to do wood working, work puzzles, UK basketball and firefighting.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Judith Blackburn Edwards as well as his two sons,
Shane (Amanda) Edwards of Cincinnati, OH and Devin Tyler (Sierra) Edwards of Dayton, OH.
He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Taylor Lyndsay Edwards and Brady Shane Edwards.
Ronald was also survived by three sisters, Elaine (Mike) Lowe of Mt. Sterling, KY, Susie (Bill
"Giggles") Williamson of Pikeville, KY and Peggy Edwards of Mt. Sterling, KY along with one
brother Roger Edwards of Calhoun, GA and a host of family and friends.

2015, at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born June 3, 1948 at Kimper, KY the son of the late
Clint and Lily Ruth Hunt Stiltner. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Stiltner Jr.;
step son, David Ratliff; sister, Lou Ellen Stacy and a brother, Kenneth Stiltner.
He was a disabled mechanic.

Keith (Buddy) Salmons, Jr. passed away on October 30, 2015 with his
family by his side. He was born February 28, 1967 in Norfork, VA, but
called Turkey Creek, KY, his home for most of his life.
He is survived by his parents, William (Bill) and Rose Evans of Turkey Creek, KY, with whom he shared a most special bond, two children,
Ryan Salmons of Turkey Creek, KY, the light of Buddy's life and his
daughter, Chat'eau (Doug) Kidwell of Mt. Vernon, KY, the apple of his
eye.
He was the proud grandfather of three precious girls, 6-year old Syrra
Kidwell, 3-year old Kenadi Kidwell, and 9-month old Lilly Kidwell. He
was also survived by two sisters, Donna (Greg) Chaffins of Knoxville, TN, and Dreama
Vansickel (Leroy) of Turkey Creek, KY, and both will miss him dearly. He will also be missed
by his long-time friend and caregiver, Mary Ann Yagodich of Turkey Creek, KY. He will be
missed by his niece, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He showed amazing courage as a lung transplant recipient and in his battle with cancer.
Buddy was baptized in the name of the Lord on September 11, 2015, something that gave him
much peace in his final days.
Buddy was an avid and loyal Kentucky Wildcats fan, lover of jigsaw puzzles, with a dry
sense of humor and a stubborn streak a mile long. But most of all, he was a loving and devoted
father, son, brother and friend.
The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to Appalachian Hospice Care for their
professional and compassionate care.

Lula Pearl Huddle, age 90, of Newtown, WV went home to be with her
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, November 21, 2015, at the home of
her daughter, Barbara (Roby) Chafin whom she made her home with the
last three years.
Lula was born February 21, 1925, at Blacky, VA to the late Scott Hiram
and Lula Violet Aldridge Smith. In addition to her parents, she was also
preceded in death by her husband, John Huddle, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Judy
Kay Huddle and two grandchildren.
Lula has been a Christian since 1954. Lula's life of love for her family,
her church and all her friends will always remain a precious memory to all
who held her close. Lula belonged to the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church, Ransom, KY.
Lula leaves behind to honor her loving memory and morn her passing her children; William

Gaythel was born at Hatfield, KY, to Wayne Smith and Gertrude Bevins Smith on October
12, 1934. She attended Belfry High School as well as classes at Rollins College, Orlando, Florida. Her career included jobs in banking, retail, and real estate. Previously she worked at Watson's Department Store at Southside Mall. Her most recent position was as a Real Estate Specialist with the US Army Corps of Engineers in South Williamson, KY, Miami, FL, and Jacksonville, FL. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church - Ponte Vedra, Florida.
She is preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Linda Charlene West; former husbands Charles West and Raymond Francis Warren; sisters, Willa Marie Young and Odessa
Bevins as well as a special brother-in-law, Wander H. Hale.

Gilbert A. Garris, 87, of Belfry, KY, went home to be with his Lord on
Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at the Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born April 23, 1928, in Athens, Alabama the son of the late
Richard Alvin Garris and Nettie Howell.
He found his way to Florida, then to Columbus, Ohio for many years and
spent the last 12 years in Belfry, KY. He was also preceded in death by a
brother, Dave Garris and three sisters, Rebecca Graham, Gayle (Bill) Ison
and Jeanette (David) Ridenour.
He retired as an electrical journey wireman with I.B.E.W. local union
756 out of Daytona Beach, FL, where he was a 56-year member. Gil was a
dedicated Christian man and member of the First Baptist Church of Belfry. He loved the Lord,
his wife and family but had a sweet spot for his only grandson, Nathan. We will miss him very
much.

passed away Friday November 27, 2015, at her home.
Birdie was the born March 19, 1927, at Belfry, KY to the late Moses and Polly Hunt Runyon. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ephraim "J.E." Bogar, One daughter, Nedria Stephenson, her grandson, Joey, and Six siblings.
Birdie was a cook supervisor at Hardy and Varney Grade School, a
1945 Belfry High School graduate, the #1 UK and Belfry Pirate Fan
and a member of the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Elsie Ann (Bert) Slater of Lake
Wells, FL., Roy (Brenda) Bogar of Grethel, Ky., Roger (Mae) Bogar, Tom Bogar and Walter

She was born June 26, 1930, at Williamson, WV, to the late Floyd and Leana Johnson. She

She was born March 31, 1943, at Simon, WV, the daughter of
the late Bryan Kenneda and Brookie Harper Kenneda Webb. She
was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael Elby Cline and
Daniel Allen Cline, Jr.; brother, Jennings Kenneda and Thurl
Kenneda and sisters, Jean Dingess, Parlie Harper, Maxine Harper,
Alberta Moore, Edna Brooks and Atlas Morgan.
Doris was a homemaker and a loving mother, sister and grandmother. She was of the Freewill Baptist faith.
Survivors include her companion of 25 years, Burl Lester Jr. of Williamson, WV; two
daughters, Carolyn (Roby) Lyons of Hatfied, KY and Veleda (David) Marcum of Hatfield, KY;
three sisters, Sue Ann Lester of Hanover, WV, Linnie Lawrence and Wanda Lee Morgan of

Rush Randall Ratliff, 59, of Kimper, KY, went home to be with his
Lord and Savior on Friday, December 4, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center after a lingering illness.
Randall graduated from Johns Creek High School in 1976. Upon graduation, he began working for his brother, Donnie, at River Hurricane Coal
until he became disabled in 1984. He was a huge Kentucky Wildcat fan,
and could not wait for football and especially basketball season to begin
each year. He loved spending time with his family and up until his illness
he enjoyed tracing his family roots spending many hours gathering the
Ratliff and May genealogy. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was born October 29, 1956, to the late Rush and Lillian May Ratliff. Besides his parents
he was preceded in death by brothers, Donnie Canada, Odell Ratliff and sister, Audrey Ratliff
Stevens and niece, Dale Lyn Layne.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 34 years, Sharon Scalf Ratliff; son, Bryan Randall
Ratliff of Kimper, KY; sisters, Nell (Buster) Coleman and Phyllis Ratliff of Kimper, KY, Doris
Canada Layne of Michigan, Weaultha (Richard) Ratliff TerDoest of Hudson, Michigan and
brother, Tracy Ratliff of Toledo, Ohio. The sparkle in his eyes that he loved with every beat of
his heart, a very special great nephew, Boden Canada whom he always said was the grandchild
he never had. Also surviving are ten nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

at 6 PM. There will be a short service at 7 PM.

He was born August 6, 1973, at Grundy, VA, the son of Sandra Rash Ward of Williamson,
WV and the late Ralph Edward Ward. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jason and Tempia Rash, his paternal grandparents, Dewey and Beatrice Ward and a special niece, Madison Ward.

passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015, at his residence in Rogersville,
TN.
He was born April 2, 1970, at Pontiac, MI to Patty Ray Lowe of Rogersville, TN, and the late Clinton Dale Lowe. He is also preceded in death by
one sister, Jessica Dawn Lowe, a brother, Craig Anthony Lowe and his
grandparents, Dewey and Gladys Ray and Ireland and Edna Miller Lowe.
He was a former coal miner, a 1988 graduate of Belfry High School and
of the Baptist faith.
Besides his mother, he is survived by several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Lester Eugene Francisco, 90, of Sidney, KY, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born September 8, 1925 in Pike County, KY, to the late David and Nancy Keesee Francisco. He is also preceded in death by one
sister, Augustine Robinette, and two brothers, Chester Francisco and
Lendall Francisco. He was retired from the railroad, a veteran of the U.
S. Navy in WW II and a member of the Sidney Missionary Church.
He is survived by a special sister-in-law, Ann Francisco of Sidney,
KY, a special nephew, Jerry Francisco of Sidney, KY, and a host of
nieces, nephews, family, friends and church family.

He was born December 28, 1944, at McAndrews, KY, the son of

He was a retired coal miner.

at Signature Healthcare, Pikeville, KY.
She was born October 24, 1933, at Williamson, WV the daughter of the late William Arthur
and Susie Crigger Moore. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Elden
Sanders. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Arnold and Howard Edward
Moore; two sisters, Beatrice Haeberle and Pauline Ramey; granddaughter, Brittany Sanders and
a grandson, Jeff Akers.
She graduated from Williamson High School in 1951. She was employeed in the office of
Armour Meat Packing Co. in Williamson for 37 years. She was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Williamson and also a member of the Ladie's Auxillary of B.R.T.
She is survived by a son, Rick (Deborah) Sanders and a grandson she raised for 8 years,
Douglas Sanders all of Williamson, WV; two step daughters, Linda Diane Stevens of Pikeville,
KY and Shelby (Gary) Akers of Burlington, KY; two sisters, Irene Freeman of South Williamson, KY and Ruth (Marvin) Vernatter of Williamson, WV; a sister-in-law, Thelma Moore of
Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Rodney, Braxton, Jenna, Bryan, Penny, Brooke and Billy;
