Traditionally, Sunday evening was the
one day when families and friends could
gather to eat good food for dinner and
catch up on the week. Because of more
hectic lifestyles, that custom has frequently disappeared.
At Il Mulino New York, Sundays can
once again capture the family spirit in
a gorgeous setting. The new “Sunday
Supper” menu was introduced on March
6. It aims to revive many foods from the
pre-1960 “Sunday Supper” cookbook
menus that were central to the weekly
dinner visit. The prix-fixe $43.00-perperson menu offers numerous choices

homemade gnocchi with fresh tomato
and mozzarella, eggplant stuffed with
pancetta and ricotta cheese and topped
with a light vodka sauce, fried calamari,

Caesar salad prepared tableside or baby
arugula salad for a second course.

Over the long term, the “Wiz” has verified that the Borgata has the best
overall slot odds for the player. Showboat continues to have the worst
odds in the entire country. The numbers do not lie. But hold on. Something very “fishy” is currently going on with Blackjack at the Borgata.
Borgata’s BJ hold percentage is “in the pits.” Their eighty-four BJ tables
have not held double digits so far this year. Properly operated and controlled a BJ table should hold about 16% for the house. Sometimes a
casino can have a run of bad luck for the house and their table games hold
percentage drops. Players dropped $56 million in Borgata’s BJ tables last
month and Borgata only kept about $3 million. Based on industry standards they should have won about $9 million.
This is a trend that has been going on for months now. Good for the BJ
players you may say. However it is costing NJ taxpayers many millions in
lost gaming taxes by whatever is going on with BJ at the Borgata. Conditions such as this are why we need CCC Inspectors in house.
Furthermore, it is likely costing Borgata tens of millions in dollars in lost
income. When you factor in that casinos usually give back about 25% of
gaming win in comps to their players you can extrapolate from the theoretical win that the Borgata is costing their shareholders a “bloody blue”
fortune. Meanwhile, if you are a BJ player you might was well get yours
at the Borgata.

Resorts Casino Hotel announced Randy Travis will perform in the Superstar Theater Saturday, April 2 following the
first Atlantic City Boardwalk Rodeo at Boardwalk Hall.
“Randy Travis was the perfect entertainer to have here at
Resorts on a ground breaking weekend for Atlantic City,” said
Dennis C. Gomes, owner, president and C.E.O. of Resorts
Casino Hotel. “Randy is one of country’s musical legends and
on a weekend where Atlantic City hosts its very first rodeo
event, it was a perfect match to bring him in as we usher in
a new genre of entertainment to AC.”
From the time Randy was 10 years old his talent was
apparent to everyone who heard him sing. By the time he
signed with Warner Brothers Records in 1985 already had an
extensive resume and following. With hits like “Prairie Rose”
on the soundtrack of the film “Rustler’s Rhapsody” and later
his first number one country hit, “Out of My Bones” Travis
was becoming one of country’s signature voices.
Travis is credited with opening the floodgates for the new
traditionalist movement in country music, and with 22 number
one hits, six number one albums, five Grammy’s, six CMA’s,
nine CMA’s, 10 AMA’s, five Dove Awards and a star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame he has cemented his status as a
musical icon.
In addition to his music, Travis has had guest appearances
on television shows, including Matlock, Touched By An Angel
and Texas and films The Rainmaker, Frank and Jessie, Black
Dog, Fire Down Below, White River Kid, Texas Rangers, Major
Reno and John-John In the Sky.

For the third year in a row, the Mother’s Day Music
Festival is back at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Performers on tap for this year’s festival will bring with them
their intimate and full-bodied vocals of r&b and soul, and
include The Whispers, Charlie Wilson, and Keith Sweat.
The spectacular concert will also feature A Tribute to Teena
Marie.
The show begins at 7:30 pm. Ticket prices are $87,
$72, $62 and $46 and go on sale Friday, January 21 at
noon. Tickets can be purchased at the Boardwalk Hall
Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, by calling 800-7361420 or at www.ticketmaster.com.
The Whispers have a credited 24-year legacy of R&B
hits. The quintet was formed in Los Angeles by twins
Walter and Wallace Scott, Nicholas Caldwell, Marcus
Hutson, and Gordy Harmon (who left in 1973). The Whispers turned up on the Dore label in 1964 with "I Was Born
When You Kissed Me." In 1969, the quintet climbed the
soul charts for the first time with "The Time Has Come"
on Soul Clock, and they cracked the R&B Top Ten the
next year with "Seems Like I Gotta Do Wrong.” They’ve
remained hitmakers ever since for the labels Janus, Soul
Train, and Solar, with smashes including the solid gold
chart-topper “And the Beat Goes On” in 1980 and another
number one urban contemporary hit, “Rock Steady,” in
1987.
Charlie Wilson was the lead singer for the Gap Band,
and sang on four number one R&B hits: "Burn Rubber
(Why You Wanna Hurt Me)," "Early in the Morning," "Outstanding," and "Addicted to Your Love" -- as well as the
classics "You Dropped a Bomb on Me," "Yearning for Your
Love," "Party Train," and "Big Fun." The band had three
platinum albums and two gold certificates, and supplied
hit singles for the movie soundtracks to Penitentiary III
("Sweeter Than Candy") and Keenan Ivory Wayans' I'm
Gonna Git You Sucka (the title track, which reached the
R&B Top 20). After a long hiatus, Wilson returned in 2000
with Bridging the Gap, issued by Interscope and sporting
appearances by Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg (the smooth
"Big Pimpin'") and Case (on the duet ballad "Another
Man"). The album became an R&B hit and brushed the
Top 200 album chart as well. His 2005 LP Charlie, Last
Name Wilson hit the Top Ten thanks to the success of the
title track and "Magic." Uncle Charlie followed in 2009,
with Just Charlie landing in 2010.
Keith Sweat is an R&B and soul singer that rose to
fame in the late 1980’s. In 1987, Sweat released his debut album Make It Last Forever, which sold four million
copies. The biggest hit from this album was "I Want Her"
(#1 R&B/#5 Pop), and the title track from the album was
hit #2 on the R&B charts. Sweat continued to chart fairly
well with his sophomore album I'll Give All My Love To
You, which hit #3 on the Billboard 200 chart, and Keep It
Comin debuted in the Top 20 of the album chart. Sweat
released his fourth album Get Up On It in the summer of
1994. He followed with Keith Sweat, his self-titled fifth album, in 1996, which hit #5 on the Billboard 200. The single
"Twisted" hit #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "Nobody"
hit #3. Keith Sweat has produced songs for artists such
as Men At Large, Dru Hill, Immature, Ol Skool, The Isley
Brothers, and The O'Jays.
The late Teena Marie was a Grammy nominated singer,
songwriter, and producer. Marie, nicknamed "Lady T",
was the blue-eyed soul protégé of the late funk legend
Rick James. She sang R&B with big, robust vocals, and
was proficient on rhythm guitar. Her success in R&B and
soul and loyalty to these genres would earn her the title
Ivory Queen of Soul. She also wrote, produced, sang and
arranged virtually all of her songs since her 1980 release,
"Irons in the Fire". Songs that have made her famous include "I'm Just a Sucker for Your Love", a duet with Rick
James, "Square Biz ", "Still In Love" (a duet with the late
Gerald Levert), and "A Rose By Any Other Name". Her
last album, "Congo Square", a very personal and jazzinfluenced collection of songs, was released in mid-2009.
Teena Marie passed away December 26, 2010. This year’s
concert will pay homage to her untimely death with a very
special tribute.

No, sugar is not chemically altered or bleached
during processing. The sugar in your sugar bowl
is the same as the sucrose naturally present in the
original sugar beet and sugar cane plants, and is also
identical to the sucrose in other fruits and vegatables.
Pure sugar crystals are naturally colorless. No artificial bleaching or whitening necessary. Molasses,
which is naturally present in sugar beet and sugar
cane gives brown sugar its color, is removed from
the sugar crystal with water and centrifuging. Carbon
filters absorb any remaining colored plant materials.

If you enjoy classical music, then you'll want to make a note
of the next upcoming event at Stockton PAC (Performing Arts
Center). The Bay-Atlantic Symphony will perform "Classic
Proportions" at Stockton PAC on Sunday, March 27, 2011. At
1pm, "Conversation with the Conductor" will be held in the
theatre. Show time is 2pm. Tickets are $25 per person, thanks
to a generous grant from PNC Arts Alive & may be ordered
online at www.stockton.edu/pac or by calling the Box Office
at (609)652-4786. The Bay-Atlantic Symphony is Stockton's
"Orchestra-in-Residence." For Group sales, call (609)652-4786.
The concert will include: Mozart's Symphony No. 40. Its human
expressions are perfectly shaped and balanced, yet so modern
in sentiment. In contrast, 20th & 21st century pieces are pure
radiance. Paul Somers wrote this classically-scored concerto
for soloist, brilliant Violinist Jorge Avila, emphasizing his lyrical
gifts. The work concludes with a joyous jig. The concert also
includes Henry Cowell's Hymn and Fuguing Tune No. 10 is
gently gracious work that shows this American Composer's
deep connection to religious expression and sublime melody.
