Thanks to all, for your support and participation, with the Charlotte
NC Raceway. Jeff and Kathy Walker did a fantastic job!! From
visiting the Hendricks Museum and the Hendricks Racing Team to
the Childress Museum, Childress Racing Team, to the BBQ
Restaurants. Mary and I had a fantastic time. WE look forward to
the next Trip.
On the way to Charlotte Raceway, our Windshield was broken,
chips all over the bumper, hood fenders (estimate $3200 to repair)
and lastly our oil cooling line was lying against the headers and
wore a hole in the line and is leaking. Mike Boyer put in this way to
me. Whenever you modify your engine, you race on Sunday and
repair on Monday. How true that statement is!
On July 9th we are scheduled to be at the Markets @ Shrewsbury
and then off to the Parade in New Freedom PA and safer that we
will be gathering after the parade at the Seven Restaurant for
Dinner. Mary and I have been talking with the Owners of the
Restaurant for the past several months with Kris (owner) purchasing
a new C7 corvette. This evening as I write my article found out that
they did purchase a new C& coupe Red from Thornton Chevrolet.
Please welcome them into our family!!! I will try to get Kris and Tom
to visit our club meetings and or a show. By the way, The Seven
Restaurant will be sponsoring Markets at Shrewsbury.
It also looks like we will enjoy another fantastic year with our shows
at The Markets @ Shrewsbury, Corvettes @ Carlisle!! and the Trip
to Vermont in October.
It is always my pleasure serving you as your President and want
you to know that we have a open door policy to the members and
Board of Directors.
As we move forward, take time to pray for and stay in contact with
members and their families that may be in poor health or just need
someone the talk too!!
We are all about our members, you come first!! Let’s have some fun
this year.

planning stage and may not be repeated. Be alert,
don't wait, as soon as they show up in the newsletter

participation is limited and the event can sell out

01 Jul 2016 - Friday - Ice Cream Run – This month, we
will meet at Rutter's Wrightsville and depart at 7 pm. Bring
a non-member friend in their Vette and their ice cream is
"on the club". Destination is Jigger Shop in Mt Gretna.
13 Jul 2016 - Wednesday - Regular membership
Meeting - The menu for the upcoming meeting will be:
Plated Salad, Roast Turkey w/Filling, Roast Pork, Red
Skinned Mashed Potato, Glazed Carrots, Coffee, Tea, Iced
Tea and Soda. Please come out and enjoy dinner before the
meeting. Doors open @ 5pm, buffet dinner @ 6pm,
meeting @ 7pm. Note: Drinks provided with dinner are only
for those who have paid for meals.
Dakota Triumph, owner of many vineyards, wineries,
breweries, and distilleries and self made billionaire has
been found dead in his winery on Wednesday morning by
his personal assistant. It is not known if his death was from
natural causes, an accident, or maybe murder. His death is
being investigated by Corvette County sheriff Bentley
Packard who is questioning suspects. The suspects are his
wife Mercedes DeVille-Triumph, his pilot/chauffeur Henry J.
Hudson, his personal assistant Opal Maserati, his master
wine maker Kaiser Ford, Mercedes' personal assistant
Belvedere Fraser, and one of his vineyard employees Nash
Crosley. More information will be reported as the
investigation continues and the coroner's report is
available.

30 Jun (Thurs) - 03 Jul (Sun), 2016 - Sahlen's Six
Hours at the Glen - A number of us enjoyed this race in
the rain last year. Great event for those who enjoy
Corvette Racing the hospitality of a Corvette Coral. The
club has not made specific plans, but no reason that
members cannot make plans to go. Craig Holler can
provide advice on obtaining a weekend package. Check

21 - 23 Jul 2016 - Mecum Classic Car Auction Harrisburg, YCCC not participating. A few of us will attend
to enjoy the auction.
13 Aug 2016 - Saturday Annual Pig Roast at Boyer's
Farm - mark your calendar. There will be a charge of
$10/non-member (for food and beverages) payable by July
8 Regular Meeting. Those members who plan to attend will
be free but must sign-up. Sign-up sheets will be available.
Activities include: 1) fishing derby (men versus women) 9
am to 11 am (women won last year), 2) Lunch @ 12 pm,
3) Pocono/Carlisle judging seminar @ 2 pm, 4) DJ – 4 pm
to 7 pm, 5) Pig roast 4:30 pm till dark. Bring your Vette, a
dessert to share and any adult beverage you choose . Price

Motion – To accept Tom Savoie into membership,

Sell have been to two events so far ( an ice cream run and
this meeting) and will be joining next month. They have a
2007 Silver Convertible.
Publication/Circulation – Stu Jones – Stu is looking for
pictures for the “Picture of the month contest.” He is
currently down to one picture.
Program Chairman – Mike Boyer – Thornton show had
$2275 in gross receipts and netted $1675 in net proceeds
after $548 was taken out for charity.

Unfinished Business – By Law Proposal. There is a
proposed change in the bylaws to Article 4, Section 1. “ All
Officers shall be elected for 1 year and succeed themselves
for 1 term.”. The change would be to “Succeed themselves
for two terms”. This was announced at the May meeting
and will be voted on at the July meeting.
New Business - There is a continuing problem with the
microphone at the Saloon. Teena Jones will speak to the
Management of the Saloon.
Steve also noted that Nello Tire gave him a great deal on
tires for his Corvette.

Dear Ma and Pa,
I am well. Hope you are. Tell Brother Walt and Brother
Elmer the Marine Corps beats working for old man Minch
by a mile. Tell them to join up quick before all of the
places are filled.
I was restless at first because you get to stay in bed till
nearly 6 a.m. But I am getting so I like to sleep late. Tell
Walt and Elmer all you do before breakfast is smooth your
cot, and shine some things. No hogs to slop, feed to pitch,
mash to mix, wood to split, fire to lay. Practically nothing.
Men got to shave but it is not so bad, there's warm water.
Breakfast is strong on trimmings like fruit juice, cereal,
eggs, bacon, etc., but kind of weak on chops, potatoes,
ham, steak, fried eggplant, pie and other regular food, but
tell Walt and Elmer you can always sit by the two city boys
that live on coffee. Their food, plus yours, holds you until
noon when you get fed again. It's no wonder these city
boys can't walk much.
We go on 'route marches,' which the platoon sergeant says
are long walks to harden us. If he thinks so, it's not my
place to tell him different. A 'route march' is about as far
as to our mailbox at home. Then the city guys get sore
feet and we all ride back in trucks.
The sergeant is like a school teacher. He nags a lot. The
Captain is like the school board. Majors and colonels just
ride around and frown. They don't bother you none.
This next will kill Walt and Elmer with laughing. I keep
getting medals for shooting. I don't know why. The bulls-eye
is near as big as a chipmunk head and don't move, and it
ain't shooting at you like the Higgett boys at home. All you
got to do is lie there all comfortable and hit it. You don't
even load your own cartridges. They come in boxes.

([email protected]) by the 25th of each month.
Editor's favorite will be printed here. From each set of 12
monthly pictures, the membership will be asked to select
their favorite and an annual award will be presented for the
best YCCC Photo. All entries will be considered during each
12-month period. YCCC/Corvette related pictures will be
given preference.

31 May 2016 - 1960 Briggs Cunningham Le Mans
Corvette Was Once Advertised on Craigslist for $700
You never know what you might find on Craigslist.
Take, for example, the case of “SERIAL #X53L” that
appeared in a Craigslist ad in the Tampa Bay, Fla., area
some five years ago.
Some lucky person could have bought this car for less than
$1,000 – some have speculated for just $700.
The seller thought it was a 1953 Pontiac prototype to be
named “Longoria” and that it was “ZAGATO designed and
PINNAFARINA constructed the body for GM in late 52.” He
closed his ad: “Might anyone have knowledge of some
former FISHER BODY executive that could assist in further
identifying this automobile?”
California junkyard and eventually bought and restored by
collector Bruce Meyer.
But it wasn’t a 1953 pre-production Corvette Frame as the
ad surmised.
No. 1 remained hidden, however, until it resurfaced in that
Craigslist ad. In the years since, a battle over ownership
ensued, but Indiana car dealer and collector Gino Burelli
owns the car now and agreed to terms in 2015 to have
famed Corvette restorer Kevin Mackay of New York do the
restoration. Mackay also restored the No. 3 car.
Far from it.
Indeed, the car was seven years older, and some speculate
that completely restored, this Corvette might be worth
upwards of $7 million or more.
You see, it turned out to
be the mysterious No. 1

year labeled “1,” “2,” and
“3.”
No. 3 wound up winning the race, while No. 1 and No. 2
failed to finish.
Nowadays, those three cars might instantly become
museum pieces, but back then, Cunningham just changed
them back into street-legal Corvettes and they disappeared
for years after being sold through a Chevrolet dealer.
No. 3 was eventually discovered and restored by the late
Chip Miller and his son Lance. No. 2 was found in a

Burelli’s attorney Bryan Shook guided him through the
legalities and says the restoration could cost more than half
a million bucks and take a year to complete. Right now, the
car is in Burelli’s possession until he gets a final payment
agreed to in court.
Shook said Burelli is “shopping” the car and believes it will
fetch at least $3 million to $7 million. Not bad for a little
Craigslist offering, huh? By the way, these are the three
Corvettes made famous in "The Quest", a documentary that
details their success and the search for them years later by

09 Jul 2016 - 1967 L89 Corvette Convertible Heading to Barrett-Jackson Northeast We’re starting to see some of the offerings that’ll be
crossing the block in a couple of weeks at BarrettJackson’s inaugural Northeast auction. The all-new 3day event takes place June 23rd through June 25th
at the Mohegan Sun Hotel and Casino in Uncasville,
CT.
One serious Corvette selling at no reserve there is
Lot 667, a rare 1967 L89 Corvette convertible. If it
looks familiar that’s because it’s the same L89 that
sold (twice) out of the Falbo Collection at Leake
Oklahoma City back in February for $167,000.
RPO L89 added aluminum cylinder heads to the
already potent 427 cubic in engine. The lightweight
cylinder heads lifted from the L88 racecars took 75
lbs off of the front of the car which resulted in a lower center of gravity, better rear wheel weight bias, and an
improved overall power to weight ratio. Horsepower was listed at an underrated 435 hp which was the same as the
435hp L71 engine, though the L89’s aluminum heads had larger exhaust valves yielding more airflow. Estimated
horsepower for L89’s is somewhere around 500. In the end, just 16 L89 Corvettes were produced in St. Louis.
This particular example is finished in Marlboro Maroon with a white interior and white soft top. Other options include a
4-speed manual transmission, power steering, power brakes, side mount exhaust, and bolt on wheels wrapped in
white wall tires.

This
particular Corvette been has inspected by Roy
Sinor, former NCRS National Judging Chairman
and 1967 National Team Leader, and
Bloomington Gold engine-stamp and trim-tag
judge. Through his examination he confirmed
that all of the visible body tags, casting dates
and casting numbers appear correct. It is
interesting to note here that the seller clearly
calls out that he has no GM documentation on
the car.
For the numbers guys: The car was built June
21, 1967 based on the never-removed trim tag.
The block was cast on March 31, 1967 and the
engine was assembled on May 12, 1967 as
noted by the T0512IU engine stamp.
Since the 1967 L89 Corvette is selling at auction twice within roughly 4 months, this will give us a good opportunity to
see if there’s any consistency in the market or if the selling venue affect value. Back in February, the car was a
relatively new find so potential bidders may not have found about the car in time to take a swing at owning it. It will
be interesting to see if the Barrett-Jackson pageantry adds or deletes from the final sale price of this car now that is
