Carousel Private Party Rooms
Woodland Park Zoo’s Historic Carousel features hand-carved vintage carousel horses and
two chariots, one of which has been retrofitted to accommodate wheelchairs. Dedicated in
2006, the Historic Carousel was a gift from Linda and Tom Allen and the Alleniana Foundation.
Solar panels were added in 2011 with help from Seattle City Light, producing enough energy to
offset the carousel’s 100,000 annual rides.
A wall of windows provides the Carousel Party Rooms with a full view of the carousel, and the
one-way glass maintains privacy. The two rooms are equal in size with access to the carousel
and outdoors. Designed for children’s birthday parties, they can also be used for holiday
parties, showers and other events.
Capacity:
25 per room, 50 in both rooms
Rental Time: May - September – 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., 12:30 - 2:30 p.m., 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
October - April – 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Rental times include setup and cleanup time.
Includes: (1) standard 6’ x 2 ½ ' rectangle table, (2) child height 6’ x 2 ½ ' rectangle tables,
(16) kid sized chairs, (8) adult chairs
Room features:

• Small refrigerator
• Private restroom
Additional rental equipment (tables, chairs, canopies, A/V equipment, etc.) available for a fee.

The Carousel Party rooms include carousel horse cut-outs on two walls and the best feature
of all – a view of the carousel itself!

• One free carousel ride for 16 people (15 guests plus birthday child)

Hooks around the room allow for easy hanging of banners, streamers, etc. Party host is
welcome to hang décor from the walls with masking or painters tape. Fasteners that leave a
mark or residue are not permitted.
Tables measure 6’ x 2 ½ ' – party host is encouraged to bring in table cloths.

Restrictions
The health and well-being of our animals is our primary goal. As such, certain items are
prohibited on zoo grounds, including: balloons, straws, piñatas, balls, Frisbees and other
flying objects, confetti, glitter, clowns, mascots, costumes and other “circus” type items, pets,
skateboards, bicycles and firearms.

Additional Party Guest Policy
If your guest count exceeds the number of people included in your package each additional party
guest (adult or child) is $10 per person. If the party host is a zoo member, each additional guest
is $9 per person. All guests must have their admission fees paid for as part of the party package total
regardless of the guests' membership status.

If your desired date and time are available, the Birthday Party Coordinator will email a
reservation agreement to hold the date and time and add any activities to your party.
Upon receipt of the reservation agreement, party host has 3 days to review, sign, and
return the agreement with payment information included to secure the date and time.
Venue Reservation Policy: Party host will be charged full package fee plus additional
activities upon booking. All fees and payments are non-refundable.

will facilitate the reservation, setup and removal of this equipment. For both rental and A/V
equipment, delivery and setup charges apply.

days or less prior to the event date require full payment of the rental fee.

Food options
Lancer Catering, Woodland Park Zoo’s exclusive, on-site catering company, can provide
scrumptious treats and refreshing beverages for your party. Your Birthday Party Coordinator
can provide you with a birthday party menu. When Lancer provides food and beverage, they
also provide all service ware, cups, plates, utensils, etc.
Party host is welcome to provide food and (non-alcoholic) beverages. If providing food and
beverage, party host is responsible for providing service ware, cups, plates, utensils, etc.
No deliveries to zoo Entrances are accepted. No food from outside caterers is permitted.

porcupine or a cuddly bunny. Your guests will have a wild time!

furry, feathery and leathery critters. Learn about their struggle for survival and discover what
Woodland Park Zoo is doing to help conserve and protect these fascinating animals and their
habitats. Choose your tour from the following exhibits: Northern Trail, Tropical Rain Forest
and African Savanna.
Each Zoofari tour is available during regular zoo hours and lasts approximately 45-60 minutes.
Maximum group size is 30 people per tour.
