THE AMERICAN COLONIES felt
so strongly against the Stamp Act
that they called a meeting of all of
the colonies. It was called the
Stamp
Act
Congress.
Representatives came from nine
of the colonies and they met in
New York in October of 1765.
They wrote an official protest to
the Stamp Act. This was the first
such “congress” in the colonies
and was a precedent for later
gatherings in Philadelphia. Brought to you by Gunnison Valley
Chapter DAR (Daughters of the
American Revolution) (2/10).
