Global Lubricants – North America
Texaco and Chevron
Commercial &
Industrial Brands
Merged This Month
Chevron Global Lubricants North America merged the Texaco and Chevron
Commercial and Industrial (C&I) family of brands under the Chevron master
brand name effective July 14, 2008. The brand transition will help us leverage the
strength from both the Chevron and Texaco C&I family of brands.
It is important to note that Chevron will continue to market its premium
consumer product offering under the Texaco Havoline® product line, leveraging
its strong brand equity in the marketplace. This includes the Texaco Xpress
Lube and Havoline Installer facilities, which will remain an important asset in
delivering Havoline products to consumers.
One of the exciting advantages to the brand transition is that Texaco Xpress
Lubes now have access to the Delo® brand, including Delo 400 LE. Details on an
upcoming Delo promotion are included inside this issue of Xpress News.
Thank you for your continued partnership and business. If you have questions
during this time of transition, please contact your Automotive Installed Specialist
or Marketer sales representative.
Safety Moment:
Avoiding Back Injury
Back injuries are all too prevalent and easy to sustain, even for those who
don’t perform regular heavy lifting as part of their jobs. Be sure to follow these
tips from www.spine-health.com when lifting items at home or on the job to
help avoid a back injury:
JKeep your chest forward: always keep your chest forward, bend at the
hips and never twist when lifting an object. Keeping the chest pointing
forward will ensure a straight back.
JLead with the hips, not the shoulders: when changing directions,
move the hips first so the shoulders will move in unison. When moving
the shoulders first, the hips tend to lag behind creating the dangerous
twisting that can cause back injury, especially to the joints in the back
and pelvis.
JKeep the weight close to the body: the further an object is held from
one’s center of gravity, the more force required to hold that object up. The
closer the object is to one’s body, the less likely it is to lead to back injury.
This safety moment ties into Chevron Products Company’s operational
tenets # 2: Always operate in a safe and controlled condition, and
# 4: Always follow safe work practices and procedures.

Credit and Debit
Card Processing Fee
Structure Now in
Effect
Chevron is pleased to announce a significant revision to our Credit and Debit
Card Processing Fee Structure that took effect June 1, and is one of the lowest
total costs of credit in our industry. The new permanent fee structure includes
lower rates on most credit cards.
Please see the chart below comparing the lower rates for many credit and
debit card options.
Chevron continues to look for ways to promote the use of our “no fee”
Chevron and Texaco credit cards, which can help reduce the total cost of credit.
In addition, we plan to introduce a co-branded credit card later this year that
is currently planned to offer significant value to consumers and to provide our
retailers with another “no fee” payment option.
Chevron will continue to pursue long-term solutions through engagement with
third party card companies by actively supporting the NACS Merchant Payments
Coalition.
For questions regarding the changes to our processing fee structure, please
contact Mark Rittenour at [email protected].

Bosch Reducing Size
of its Havoline® Oil
Filter Canisters
Robert Bosch LLC, a leader in filtration innovation, is reducing the height on
its Havoline® oil filter canisters by approximately ½” to ¾”. Bosch’s goals in
reducing the height of the canisters are to simplify the installation and removal
process for Havoline installers and customers, to reduce transportation costs, and
to positively impact the environment.
According to the company, the environmental advantages include:
JReduced steel for less raw material use
JA decrease in packaging materials
JMore economical transportation due to an increase in pallet piece count
and weight reduction
Conversion to the new size will be done on a running change basis.
For questions about the conversion to the smaller Havoline oil filter canisters, please
visit www.boschautoparts.com or contact your Automotive Installed Specialist.
Juan Pablo Montoya
Recipient of Recent
Media Attention
In case you missed it, Juan Pablo Montoya, NASCAR’s No. 42 Texaco/Havoline
driver, has received plenty of attention both on and off the track recently. Earlier
this summer, Montoya was featured in USA Today as one of the leaders of former
IRL drivers who have made the jump to NASCAR, and he earned a spot on People
en Español’s 50 Most Beautiful of 2008 list.
And for those more interested in following his chase up the Sprint Cup
standings, plenty of races remain in the 2008 season. NASCAR’s schedule
provides multiple upcoming opportunities to see Montoya behind the
wheel of the Texaco/Havoline-sponsored Dodge Charger,
including races Aug. 3 at the Pocono Raceway, Aug. 17
at Michigan International Speedway and Aug. 31 at
California Speedway.
