apfcu now offers tiered lending - Aloha Pacific Federal Credit Union
JUNE 2014
PRESIDENT’S
MESSAGE
Vince J. Otsuka
W
e received nearly 60 qualified applications for our Masami Oishi
Scholarship program and have begun the
extensive grading process. On July 9, we
will award $30,000 in scholarship money
to 15 aspiring college or trade school students in an evening ceremony at our Fort
Street branch.
This month we will be offering an upgrade to our KalaRewards VISA check (debit) card. Starting mid-June, all new members will be able to select their PIN (Personal
Identification Number) by phone. By the
end of the year, all members will be able to
change their PIN at any Aloha Pacific Federal Credit Union ATM. Details on how to
change your PIN will be available online.
In June, we will conduct the first full
test of our system upgrade. This will not
affect member service, but will help us
make the transition as smooth as possible.
We will send notices prior to our live conversion date, which is September 2.
Last month there were security warnings
about Microsoft’s Internet Explorer web
browser, Windows XP and the “Heartbleed
Bug.” We have taken precautions at the
credit union, but computer experts also recommend that individuals regularly update
their home systems and anti-virus software.
Member Appreciation Day at the 50th
State Fair is on June 7. My kids can’t wait.
I hope to see you there!
Thank yyou,,

APFCU NOW OFFERS TIERED LENDING
A
s of May 1, Aloha Pacific FCU has
launched a tiered or risk-based pricing system for some of our consumer loan

few key lending criteria such as ability to
repay the loan and an individual’s credit
profile.
The products that are included in the
new tiered structure include our VISA
Gold and Classic credit cards, loans for
new and used autos, personal loans and
unsecured lines of credit.
Other consumer loan products such
as our VISA Classic Share Secured credit
card, share secured loans and lines, and
our Home Equity Line of Credit will

on’t forget about Aloha Pacific Federal Credit Union’s Home Equity
Line of Credit, which features an extraordinary 3.50% Annual Percentage Rate for
59 months. After the 59 months, the rate
is variable, currently at 5.00% APR.
Our HELOC can be your long-term
funding solution. Need to consolidate
bills? Pay for private-school or college tuition? Renovate your kitchen or bathroom?
Install a photovoltaic system? Finally go
on that once-in-a-lifetime vacation? Any
and all of these are possible with a HELOC because what you do with the funds
is completely up to you.
Visit any branch, www.alohapacific.com,
or call 531-3711 for more information.
Rate effective 06/01/14 & subject to change. Membership
($100 in a regular savings) required. Subject to credit approval. APR = Annual Percentage Rate. Contact an employee for more information about applicable fees & terms.
Some restrictions may apply. Programs may be modified
or canceled at any time. HELOC offer is a fixed APR for
59 months at time of closing. After 59 months, the APR
is variable. The current index rate is based on the prime
rate published in the Wall Street Journal, plus 1.00%,
adjusted quarterly (5.00% min. & 18.00% max), with
a 10-year draw and 30-year amortization period. Applies
to owner-occupied properties with required insurance and
maximum loan-to-value of 80% in Hawaii. Estimated
3rd party fees (ALTA policy, appraisal, trust review & attorney) for a $250,000 HELCO are $500 to $1,200. We
offer a $500 closing credit against all 3rd party fees with
an initial draw of $10,000 or more at closing.

TIERED LENDING
(continued from front page)
SATURDAY, JUNE 21 FROM 10:00 A.M. TO 4:00 P.M.
remain the same.
Why did APFCU launch a tiered system?
“This way we could be more competitive in pricing our consumer loan products and offering them to a wider range
of members with different credit profiles,”
said Vince J. Otsuka, president and CEO
of APFCU.
“High credit scores are important in
today’s financial landscape. We hope all
of our members maintain or work toward
high scores so that they can receive the best
possible loan rates.”
For more information, visit any APFCU
branch or call 531-3711.
HOW TO IMPROVE
YOUR CREDIT SCORE
Your credit score is based on
your credit history – that is, your
pattern of credit payments.
Consumers who have high
scores have a better chance of
qualifying for the lowest possible
interest rates on auto loans, mortgages and other products.
What can you do to boost
your credit score? Financial experts agree on these three main
points:
n Always pay your bills on time.
n Keep balances low in credit
cards and other revolving
credit such as department
store credit cards.
n Don’t apply needlessly for
more credit cards.
