Roundy’s
Foundation
Annual
2015 Report
A Message from Bob Mariano
At the Roundy’s Foundation, we are fortunate to be able to partner with wonderful
ambassadors who share their commitment and dedication to those in need. The Foundation
supports organizations that are integral components of the hunger relief and domestic
strife support systems in the communities we serve. Now in our 13th year of operation, we
continue to embrace these two priorities.
For many individuals or families with economic constraints, food may be a discretionary
item in their household budget. Unfortunately, hunger is not discretionary. It does not
target one age group, one nationality or one ethnicity. It affects people in all walks of life.
Whether a family is marginally food insecure or fully food insecure, hunger makes
them vulnerable. The connection between hunger and health is well-documented.
Undernourishment leads to malnutrition which can lead to health issues, both physical
and emotional. If we can provide a child, a parent or a senior citizen a meal they might not
otherwise get or help to resolve discord within a family setting, then we have succeeded
in our mission of providing opportunity and hope.
The Roundy’s Foundation provides us a direct philanthropic channel into the community
and strengthens our resolve in the fight against hunger and domestic strife. There is a
proverb that reads, “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.” The Roundy’s
Foundation, along with the many wonderful organizations we work with, will continue to
light candles in the communities we serve.

Store Teams In Action
Our retail store teams provide a needed extension of the Foundation that
demonstrates our commitment to provide opportunity and hope in the
communities we serve. Store teams continue to build relationships with their
customers and as well as with the Foundation’s partner agencies in their area.
Often stores recruit the help of their customers to collect food or funds for
local pantries or raise awareness for local domestic violence programs. The
generosity of our customers and the enthusiasm of the store groups continue
to inspire all of us in our mission to fight hunger and domestic violence.

Roundy’s Foundation Golf Classic – 11th Anniversary
The Eleventh Anniversary of the Golf Classic was another top notch success! We were pleased to have a beautiful day of
sunshine and a fantastic turnout of friends and supporters. With the support of the hardworking team at Geneva National
Golf Club and our team of gracious volunteers, our guests were treated to another day of fellowship, food, fabulous
golf and gifts! The annual event was attended by over 425 golfers, and raised over $750,000! We were proud to host
LeRoy Butler, Pick `n Save Brand Ambassador and inventor of the Lambeau Leap. Our special guest for the evening was
College Football Coaching Legend, Lou Holtz.
Coach Holtz filled us with laughter and inspiration. The Roundy’s Foundation Golf Classic has solely funded the
Foundation’s efforts to provide food and funds to pantries, meal programs, women and family violence shelters and
violence prevention education throughout Wisconsin and Illinois. We are grateful for the generosity of our many
supporters. Their support makes it possible to succeed in our mission of providing hope in our communities.

Partnerships
HUNGER TASK FORCE
Along with the Foundation’s contribution to the Thanksgiving Drive-Thru Food Drive of a truckload of
cereal and $30,000, Pick `n Save comprehensively works with Hunger Task Force throughout the year. A
few of the key opportunities include sponsorship of the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, host to the All
Star Food Drive and Food For Families. In addition, a new component to the partnership was launched,
the Pick `n Save Fresh Picks Mobile Market. This grocery store on wheels will travel throughout
Milwaukee County to visit neighborhoods and communities that have limited access to fresh foods.
13
STUFF THE SQUAD
Shoppers at participating stores purchase
pre-stuffed $5 or $10 grocery bags which are
donated to neighborhood food pantries. “STUFF
THE SQUAD”, which originated with our Green
Bay stores, has expanded to our Milwaukee
and Chicago stores in conjunction with those
communities’ police departments and is now
an annual event. Working in union with the
Milwaukee Police Department, the Foundation
also contributed family meal and homeless
outreach boxes during the winter months.
FEEDING AMERICA EASTERN WISCONSIN
Roundy’s donated 2.6 million pounds of food
last year as part of the food rescue program,
which equates to 2.2 million meals. Nearly all
of that food was meat product, providing vital
protein to food insecure families. Roundy’s also
contributed more than $60,000 through special
events and promotions. Pick `n Save continues
to be a host to Stuff the Bus at Thanksgiving with
the Foundation donating more than $20,000 in
food and funds to the event.
GREATER CHICAGO FOOD DEPOSITORY
In addition to an annual grant of $50,000 from the
Foundation, Mariano’s also contributes product
to the Food Rescue Program throughout the year.
Mariano’s team members joined up to volunteer
at the depository for a day of service in the Fall.
The year ended with the Grand Giving campaign
in which Mariano’s partnered with baseball star
Curtis Granderson to raise $150,000 for the
Greater Chicago Food Depository.
NORTHERN ILLINOIS FOOD BANK
An annual grant of $10,000 was given to the food
bank for their back pack program. The back pack
is to provide access to nutritious food for lowincome children on the weekends to help them
develop healthy bodies and minds. Mariano’s,
along with baseball star Curtis Granderson raised
$78,000 for the Northern Illinois Food Bank from
the Grand Giving Event.
SECOND HARVEST FOODBANK OF
SOUTHERN WISCONSIN
The Mobile Pantry Program received a grant
of $15,000 from the Foundation for food. In
Dane County, 20 Copps and Pick `n Save stores
contribute regularly to the Food Rescue Program
for an annual contribution of nearly 500,000
pounds. In addition, our stores host a variety of
food drives and sponsor the NBC15 Share Your
Holidays event.
