Thought
for Today: Living in the Present:
One day at a time, this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past.
For it is gone. . . and do not be troubled about the future. For it has not yet
come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful. That it will be worth
remembering.
Highway to Humility: As I thus get down to my right size
and stature, my self-concern and importance become amusing.
Then faith grows that I do have a place on this Highway; that I
can advance upon it with deepening peace and confidence. . .This is a great
gift, this knowledge that I do have a destiny.
Rationalization:
"We 'constructively criticized' someone who needed it, when our real motive
was to win a useless argument. We were depressed and complained we felt
bad, when in fact we were mainly asking for sympathy and attention. This odd
trait of mind and emotion, this perverse wish to hide a bad motive underneath
a good one, permeates human affairs from top to bottom. Learning daily to
spot, admit, and correct these flaws is the essence of character-building and
good living."
Bill W., Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, pp. 94-5

Step 11: Sought through prayer and meditation to
improve our conscious contact with God as we
understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His
will for us and the power to carry that out.
Tradition 11: Our public relations policy is

based on attraction rather than promotion; we
need always maintain personal anonymity at the
level of press, radio and films.
Promise 11: We will intuitively know how
to handle situations which used to baffle us.
Concept 11: The trustees should always have the
Annual Gratitude Dinner
best possible committees, corporate service directors,
executives, staffs, and consultants. Composition,
qualification, induction procedures, and the
rights and duties will always be matters of
serious concern.
Please Come and Join us at our Annual Gratitude
Dinner.

“I have come to believe that hard times are not just meaningless suffering and that something good might turn up at
any moment. That's a big change for someone who used to come to in the morning feeling sentenced to another day
of life. When I wake up today, there are lots of possibilities. I can hardly wait to see what's going to happen next.”
"Helping others is the foundation stone of your recovery. A kindly act once in a while isn't enough. You have to act
the Good Samaritan every day, if need be. It may mean the loss of many nights' sleep, great interference with your
pleasures, interruptions to your business. It may mean sharing your money and your home, counseling frantic wives
and relatives, innumerable trips to police courts, sanitariums, hospitals, jails and asylums. Your telephone may jangle
at any time of the day or night."
“The word ‘anonymous’ has for us an immense spiritual significance. Subtly but powerfully it reminds us that we are
always to place principles before personalities; that we have renounced personal glorification in public; that our
movement not only preaches, but actually practices a truly humble modesty.”

A PRICELESS GIFT :
By this time in all probability we have gained some measure of
release from our more devastating handicaps. We enjoy
moments in which there is something like real peace of mind.
To those of us who have hitherto known only excitement,
depression, or anxiety--in other words, to all of us--this
newfound peace is a priceless gift.
